Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The centrality of God in all things is not a novel concept to Christianity, at least not in theory. For centuries, it would appear that the Church has somehow allowed herself to remove the God-centered gospel definition from marriage and has subsequently fashioned a culturally subjective definition of love, marriage, and divorce that has left God, in many respects, far from the center. This book, however, will pay less attention to our own domestic legacies of love, marriage, and divorce. It is more so about the church, covenants, conditions, true fidelity, perseverance, God-centered joy, authenticity, fraud, legalism, and apostasy. It is a journey into the kingdom of God wherein the visible and invisible church, along with love, marriage, and divorce, all seem to collide with the gospel of glory and grace.

Book excerpt: Suffering is, in the end, God’s invitation to trust him. “As he did in his best-selling book, Heaven, Randy Alcorn delves deep into a profound subject, and through compelling stories, provocative questions and answers, and keen biblical understanding, he brings assurance and hope to all.” –Publishers Weekly Every one of us will experience suffering. You may be in such a time now. We see the presence of evil in the headlines every day. It all raises questions about God—Why would an all-good and all-powerful God create a world full of evil and suffering? How can there be a God if suffering and evil exist? Atheists such as Richard Dawkins and even former believers like Bart Ehrman answer the question simply: The existence of suffering and evil proves there is no God. But in this illuminating book, best-selling author Randy Alcorn challenges the logic of disbelief, and brings a fresh, hopeful, and thoroughly biblical insight to the issues these important questions raise. Alcorn offers insights from his conversations with men and women whose lives have been torn apart by suffering, and yet whose faith in God burns brighter than ever. He reveals the big picture of who God is and what God is doing in the world—now and forever. And he shows the beauty of God’s sovereignty—how it ultimately triumphs over suffering and evil in our lives and the world around us.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dogmatic study addresses two perennial questions. First, how do we reconcile God's sovereignty with human freedom, not just in general, but particularly with respect to the Church's full understanding of God's plan of salvation as a work of grace? Second (and equally crucial) is the question of how we reconcile God's universal salvific will with the mystery of predestination, election, and reprobation. The author of this study does theology within the normative tradition of confessional Catholicism, and thus in the light of Catholic teaching. But this study is also an ecumenical work, indeed, a work in receptive ecumenism, and hence he listens attentively to the reflections and arguments not only of his fellow Catholic theologians (Matthias Joseph Scheeben and Hans Urs von Balthasar) but also theologians of the Evangelical and Reformed traditions (John Calvin, Herman Bavinck, Karl Barth, and G. C. Berkouwer). This book concludes with a Catholic synthesis regarding the doctrine of divine election in dogmatic and ecumenical perspective.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the seed of life is sown in their hearts, God’s people grow up beautifully and gloriously. Taking up this botanical analogy, The Beauty and Glory of Christian Living opens by discussing the divine roots of the Christian life in being united to Christ in faith, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit, becoming spiritually minded, and living by the means of grace. It then explores how our Christian lives branch out to influence our families, our workplaces, and the world. Finally, a series of chapters deal with weathering the storms of life, when we are pelted with affliction, sexual temptation, negative thought patterns, hard times, sickness, and death. In all of this, we see a faithful God who causes His people to flourish for His glory. Contributors include Michael Barrett, Ian Hamilton, John Tweeddale, Joel Beeke, William VanDoodewaard, Brian Najapfour, Josh Dear, Gerald Bilkes, Brian Croft, and David Murray. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a daily devotional from the Promises of God. Zep 3:17 He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. Here is a verse filled with the tender and loving nature of God, offering us a beautiful glimpse into His heart. "He will take great delight in you." These words convey a profound truth about God's attitude toward His people. The Creator of the universe finds great joy and pleasure in His creation, particularly in His beloved children. It's a reminder that we are not just a part of God's plan; we are recipients of His deep affection. "He will quiet you with His love." This phrase paints a picture of God's love as a soothing and calming presence. In moments of turmoil, uncertainty, or distress, God's love can provide a sense of peace and security that quiets our anxieties. It's a reminder that His love is a source of comfort and refuge. "He will rejoice over you with singing." This is an incredibly intimate image. God not only loves us, but He also rejoices over us with singing. It's as if He takes delight in expressing His joy through a beautiful melody. This verse highlights the joy and celebration in heaven when even one soul is saved and reconciled to God. Zep 3:17 is a powerful reminder of God's deep love and affection for His children. It speaks to His desire to bring peace into our lives and to celebrate our presence in His divine plan. As you meditate on this verse, let it fill you with a profound sense of God's love and His delight in you. Embrace His love, find solace in His presence, and join in the heavenly chorus of rejoicing over the wonderful relationship you have with your Heavenly Father. The profound truths of Scripture often require spiritual discernment to fully grasp and appreciate. They may not resonate with those who have not yet come to faith or experienced a personal relationship with God. 1Co 2:14 acknowledges this concept: "The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit." This verse highlights that spiritual understanding is a gift of the Holy Spirit, and without that spiritual discernment, the truths of God may seem incomprehensible or even foolish to those who are not yet believers. Recognizing and acknowledging our sinful condition is a crucial step in becoming a child of God. This acknowledgment is foundational to the process of salvation and reconciliation with God. Here are some key elements of this process: Recognizing Sin: The first step is to acknowledge that we have all fallen short of God's perfect standard (Ro 3:23). We must come to terms with our sinfulness and realize that it separates us from a holy and righteous God. Repentance: Once we recognize our sinful condition, we should be moved to repentance. Repentance involves a genuine sorrow for our sins and a turning away from them. It's a change of heart and mind that leads us to seek forgiveness and a new way of living. Faith in Jesus Christ: Accepting our sinful condition is only part of the equation. We also need to place our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. It is through faith in Jesus that we receive forgiveness of sins and become children of God (Joh 1:12). Confession: Confessing our sins to God is an important aspect of the process. When we confess our sins, we are agreeing with God about our need for forgiveness and cleansing. God is faithful and just to forgive us when we confess our sins (1Jo 1:9). Receiving God's Grace: Salvation is a gift of God's grace. We cannot earn it through our efforts or good works. It is by God's grace that we are saved through faith (Eph 2:8-9). New Life in Christ: Once we accept our sinful condition, repent, place our faith in Christ, and receive God's forgiveness, we are born again as children of God. This new birth transforms us, and the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within us, empowering us to live a life that is pleasing to God. Accepting our sinful condition is the starting point of a journey toward becoming a child of God. It's an acknowledgment of our need for a Savior and a recognition of God's abundant love and grace that provides the way for us to be reconciled to Him.

It is a spiritual roadmap and guide that reflects the Bible for the ultimate answer and a practical, biblical, and theological resource for the church to take a deep dive into the Psalms. The primary focus is to carefully examine the psalms for hope and protection in a world of persuasive tactics of scheming. Believers are encouraged to trust God by reading what I call the Great Affirmation of faith in Ps 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” This book tells how the psalmists communicated to God amid personal encounters with enemies during turbulences of life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are many devotional books available containing brief, daily inspirations that benefit all who read them. This book is different in two respects. The first is obvious: it contains two readings per day—732 in all. The second, more important difference is that the author wanted to do more than offer inspiration; this would make this book no different than so many others. The messages in the book are study sketches in that the content is not only inspirational, but also educational, challenging, and encouraging. Most of these writings were based on author Michael J. Akers’s teaching of adult Bible studies for more than thirty years and learning what really brought adults to want to deepen their knowledge and application of the Word of God.
