Book excerpt: This set includes all five books of the Yasmin Peace Series: Finding Your Faith, Believing in Hope, Experiencing the Joy, Learning to Love, and Enjoying True Peace. Yasmin Peace is a young girl dealing with the harshness of life's lessons. Unfortunately, this is the case for many children. In the Yasmin Peace Series, the author would like to send the message to our youth that even in the midst of calamity, you can always trust and depend on God. Join Yasmin Peace on her journey through this series that will encourage character growth and development. In Finding Your Faith, Yasmin takes on the responsibility of overseeing what's left of her family after her oldest brother's tragic suicide. Through it all, she learns perseverance. As she sheds her tomboy exterior and finds her faith, Yasmin blossoms into the young lady God destined her to become. In Believing in Hope, family tensions and school unrest soar to a fever pitch. A school counselor begins the LIGHT club, a club dedicated to helping eighth grade girls deal with issues like gangs, depression, teen suicide, and self esteem. Yasmin discovers that there is hope on the other side of every obstacle—if she holds on to her faith. Even as some situations seem to get worse, she realizes that her hope is in the Lord, and we witness how she learns to rely on Him. In Experiencing the Joy, Yasmin is graduating from the eighth grade and headed to high school. With the help of the LIGHT club, she ends the school year on a positive note, as she learns about self-esteem and true joy. What Yasmin learns will be put to the test over the summer and at the beginning of her first year in high school as she encounters new drama with family and friends. Through it all and in less than perfect circumstances, Yasmin manages to hold on to her hope, keep her head up and experience joy. In Learning to Love, Yasmin, her brothers and mother lose their apartment in a fire. As if that was not enough, Yasmin's grandmother is diagnosed with Alzheimers. Through all of these seemingly bad situations, Yasmin does not lose hope that things will get better. As she heads off to high school, that hope pays off and things are finally starting to look up. She has three great friends, her father is out of jail and finally, the drama is behind her. At least that's what Yasmin thinks. She has yet to learn the lessons of love as she finds out that loving those who are the closest to her is not always an easy thing to do. In Enjoying True Peace, the triplets, Yasmin, York and Yancy finally see the light at the end of the tunnel after what seems like so many years of struggling due to the death of their big brother and their missing in action father;. Mom has a great job, everyone's grades are up, they're all making new friends and have even gotten involved in afterschool activities. Now their father is back in the picture and it's smooth sailing from there, right? Wrong. Yasmin's father wants to prove that he can bring everyone back together, so he decides to move the family. As a result, the whole house is in an uproar. Though she’s grown in her faith and learned quite a bit about hope, joy and love, Yasmin is challenged to continue depending on God to help her remain calm through it all and find peace in the midst of this new storm. Remembering that He’s still there to comfort her, Yasmin sets her heart on trusting God and enjoying true peace.

Book excerpt: When best friends Helen Martin and India Evans walk into a room, people take notice. The best friends embody everything the average professional woman is: attractive, driven and looking for love. While they are both searching, Helen and Indias paths could not be any more different. Helen Martin is a hospital administrator at St. Marys hospital and is known throughout the hospital as a no-nonsense person who keeps to herself and gets the job done. While content with her professional life, Helens best friend at work, a homosexual janitor named Steven, urges her to take advantage of everything life has to offer. It isnt until Helen runs into Kenny Drake that those urges turn into reality. With his own baggage in tow-including a daughter named Asia and a complicated relationship with her mother-Helen battles between her desire for happiness and keeping her wall up. India Evans is a paralegal at a top law firm and has the personality, sarcasm and drive to give any man a run for his money. Even though India is drop-dead gorgeous and has men willing to do anything to get close to her, she had yet to find someone who had captivated her heart, body and mind. When India is set up on a blind date with the mysterious Marcus, all bets are off the table; soon, India is head over heels and looking toward her future. It isnt until Helens best friend, Steven, drops a bomb about his relationship with Marcus that Indias mind begins to wander. Deciding whether she can stomach the thought of the rumors and actually doing toy with Indias sanity and heart. From the outside, both ladies are living dream lives. They have decent jobs, beautiful looks and men who worship the ground they walk on. However, most outside perceptions can be terribly misleading. When Kennys ex-reenters the picture and places doubt in Helens mind about everything she thought they stood for; Helen is forced to deal with whether or not she or her heart are actually ready for love. As India deals with the rumors about Marcus, while conducting her own investigation, she learns that the truth may have always been a lie. While both women struggle towards their own happiness, they are surprised when their worlds collide, as pieces of their puzzles begin to be pieced together. As everything is revealed, the sneaky double lives and tales will compel everyone to figure out who was true and who had been living a lie the entire time. Finding Love At All Cost deals with the difficult transition necessary to move on from hurt, betrayal and lies once the decision to love has been decided on. Deciding to love, despite hurt, will prove to be the biggest decision of Helen and Indias lives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Late in the eleventh century the First Crusade culminated in the conquest of Jerusalem by Christian armies. Five centuries later, when Torquato Tasso began to search for a subject worthy of an epic, Jerusalem was governed by a sultan, Europe was in the crisis of religious division, and the Crusades were a nostalgic memory. Tasso turned to the First Crusade both as a subject that would test his poetic ambition and as a reflection on the quandaries of his own time. He sought to create a masterpiece that would deserve comparison with the great epics of the past. Gerusalemme liberata became one of the most widely read and cherished books of the Renaissance. First published in 1581, it was translated into English by Edward Fairfax in 1600. That translation has been the standard, even though Fairfax was only a good, not a great, poet. Fairfax tried to fit Tasso's verse into Spenserian stanzas, adding to and subtracting from the original and often changing Tasso's meaning. Anthony Esolen's new translation captures the delight of Tasso's descriptions, the different voices of its cast of characters, the shadings between glory and tragedy—and it does all this in an English as powerful and clear as Tasso's Italian. Tasso's masterpiece finally emerges as an English masterpiece.

Instead of using violence to make his mark in the world, he is now armed with a university degree in architecture and a new guiding light—Buddhist philosophy. The biker is on a mission to reunite with his fourteen-year-old daughter Justine, the only surviving member of his family, but a restraining order and condition of parole prohibits Blues from seeing her. The restraining order, put in place by the maternal grandparents who have raised the girl since the death of her mother and brother, mandates that Blues will return to jail if he contacts the teenager. Appearing to lead an exemplary lifestyle, Blues has hardly become a model citizen. As he tries to rebuild his life, he crosses paths with bikers who have anything but his best interest at heart. The biker breaks parole by contacting his daughter, and learns in the process that she harbors a deep hatred for him, as he begins the long, hard journey to reconnect with the only family he has left.
