Book excerpt: La elaboración de una propuesta de diseño de un Sistema Integrado de Gestión Bibliotecaria (SIGB), que recoja las necesidades que existen y analice los flujos de información que se producen en la biblioteca, es el objetivo genérico de este trabajo, lo que obliga a cumplir otros objetivos más específicos: * Identificar un modelo metodológico para un Sistema Integrado de Gestión Bibliotecaria. * Determinar un elenco de subsistemas que defina la estructura de la biblioteca. * Realizar un estudio funcional que permita identificar los elementos de cada subsistema. * Definir las relaciones de cada subsistema. La metodología empleada es consecuencia de los fundamentos teóricos del Análisis de Sistemas expuestos previamente y, tras decidir que el modelo que se va a emplear para el diseño del sistema es el Modelo Entidad- Relación, por las ventajas que supone, se desarrolla la propuesta de un modelo de sistema, presentando el Modelo Entidad Relación con los distintos subsistemas contemplados en la biblioteca y los diagramas correspondientes: el Diagrama de Contexto presenta el listado de los acontecimientos que se producen en cada uno de los subsistemas y Diagramas subsiguientes y el Diagrama de Flujo de Datos del Modelo de Comportamiento presenta los Diagramas de Flujo de Datos asociados a cada uno de los acontecimientos referidos anteriormente. Las conclusiones obtenidas en el presente trabajo son: * Los Sistemas Integrados de Gestión Bibliotecaria son el resultado de un modelo funcional. * El Modelo Entidad-Relación refleja la estructura organizativa a través de los subsistemas. * La aplicación del Modelo Entidad-Relación al diseño de un SIGB permite la mejora de la gestión. * Un SIGB permite adaptar la actuación a las necesidades, suministrando información de distintas fuentes.
