Book excerpt: Slow down the aging process and live well for longer Do you know exactly how and why you age? And what you can do— whatever your current age—to slow that process and have a longer, healthier life? In The Longevity Code, medical doctor Kris Verburgh illuminates the biological mechanisms that make our bodies susceptible to heart attacks, dementia, diabetes, and other aging-related diseases. With the facts laid out, he provides the tools we need to slow down the aging process. His scientifically backed Longevity Staircase outlines a simple yet innovative step-by-step method offering better health and a longer life span– especially the crucial role of proper nutrition and exercise. But diet and exercise might not be the only way to crack the “longevity code”: With each passing day, advances in biotechnology that were once the stuff of science fiction are emerging. Dr. Verburgh discusses how new types of vaccines, mitochondrial DNA, CRISPR proteins, and stem cells may help us slow and even reverse aging—now and in the future—and when paired with the right lifestyle, lead to longer, healthier lives than we’ve ever imagined.

McDonald uses cutting-edge research to provide novel dietary therapies, methods for improving physical activity and sleep, and strategies for dealing with psychological and emotional well-being. Mainstream medicine has accomplished a lot, but it hasn't done much to combat the aging diseases that kill the majority of people: cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer's disease, and type 2 diabetes. All too frequently, it delays treatment until it is too late to make a difference, increasing lifespan but lowering health span and quality of life. According to Ruben M. McDonald, we need to ditch this antiquated model and instead implement a tailored, preventative approach to health and longevity. An evidence-based strategy and tactical approach to improving our physical, mental, and emotional health and prolonging lifespan-this is not "biohacking," but science. The Author's goal is not so much to prescribe specific actions as it is to teach you how to prioritize your health over the long haul so that you can develop a personalized strategy. Aging and longevity are significantly more changeable than we imagine; our fate is not set in stone. With the appropriate blueprint, you may create a different path for your life, one that allows you outlive your genes to make each decade better than the one before. Make sure to grab a copy of this life-changing book of an experience.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past and in many developing countries today, a disease is attributed to malnutrition. Lack of adequate food leads to a vitamin deficiency, prohibiting the body from functioning properly and being able to fight off illness, and ultimately, starvation. Modern society, though, has a bit of a paradox: simultaneous overnutrition and malnutrition. Many of the diseases that plague modern society, though, such as cancer, heart disease, obesity, and type 2 diabetes, are actually associated with an overabundance of food. The problem isn't that food is not available but that so many of the foods that are typically consumed in a modern Western diet are high in calories and very low in essential vitamins and minerals. As a result, as a society, we are overfed but still suffering from malnutrition. We get too much protein, calories, sodium, sugar, carbs, and bad fats but few of the essential nutrients that our bodies need to function properly. Many people insist that they need to eat a lot of carbs, especially sugar, to raise low blood sugar or provide quick energy. However, they are only masking the myriad of problems caused by poor diets. Our bodies don't need any sugar other than what is found naturally in fruit. We don't need more than 50 grams of protein a day. And we don't need any hydrogenated oils or any of the chemicals that are found in processed foods. The easiest way to reverse this trend of disease and malnutrition and gain back your own health is to adopt a plant-based diet. A plant-based diet is about eliminating sugar and all processed foods in favor of health-enhancing fruits and vegetables. Dairy, meat, and other animal products are gradually replaced with healthier options that give our bodies what they need. At its fullest extent, the plant-based miracle diet is veganism, though you don't have to become a vegan to reap the benefits. When people think of a vegan diet, they may envision slim, long-bodied hippies who are protesting against whatever they feel needs to be challenged. In reality, though, the plant-based diet is for anyone who wants to reverse the health problems related to modern society and poor lifestyles. If it is a protest against anything, it is a protest against poor health and disease. People who adopt a plant-based diet, even those that only do so part-time by changing one or two meals a day from being meat-based to being plant-based, routinely report higher levels of energy, weight loss, and all-around better well-being and health. Instead of consuming large amounts of nutrient-deficient meat and empty calories from carbs, they are enjoying a variety of fruits and vegetables that they might not have otherwise even tried. By replacing those empty calories with nutrient-dense foods, you give your body what it needs to heal itself from chronic diseases and acute illnesses, thereby adding life to your years and even more years to your life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: People who eat a plant-based diet have significantly lower rates of obesity; in fact, the plant-based miracle diet is the single most effective way of losing weight and keeping it off. As previously mentioned, obesity is linked to many health problems, including heart and cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and high levels of stress. While in the 20th century and earlier most disease was due to starvation and malnourishment, obesity-related diseases are actually the product of a combination of overnutrition (too many calories) and malnutrition (not enough vitamins, minerals, and fiber). When fiber intake is increased and the body is getting (and absorbing) enough nutrients, the excess weight begins to melt off. With reduced levels of sugar, hormones such as insulin become stabilized. Hormonal diseases, such as metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, and type 2 diabetes, start to reverse. The wall of the gut begins to heal itself and the microbiome becomes healthy, causing problems such as autoimmune diseases and IBS to disappear without any medicinal intervention. The mood elevates, alleviating or even eliminating psychological problems such as depression and anxiety. Hardened arterial walls begin to soften, causing blood pressure to lower and thereby reducing the risk of stroke and other heart diseases. Without trans fats and bad cholesterol, arterial blockages are reduced and even eliminated, allowing for blood to flow freely throughout the body. In summary, the benefits of the plant-based diet simply cannot be overstated. One of its most immediate effects is that high levels of blood sugar and high blood pressure begin to drop and reach safe, stable levels. In addition, it allows the body to heal itself so that other diseases and health problems, such as high cholesterol, obesity, and autoimmune diseases, are able to resolve themselves.

After all, what good is living an additional decade at the expense of enjoying the previous ones?Far from being just another off-putting list of strict prohibitions, this book zeroes in on the key factor for optimal longevity: balance. Dr. Paster introduces us to the five spheres of wellness: the physical, mental, kinship/social, spiritual, and material spheres. Within each of these, he pinpoints the most threatening busters -- those lifestyle aspects that will, sooner or later, kill you. And for each buster, he recommends the most advantageous boosters -- habits that will counteract the buster and not only extend your life, but also improve your quality of living. The Longevity Code is the long-awaited comprehensive guide to health care for the next century, striking the perfect balance between a healthful diet and a soul-satisfying meal with friends, between growing old gracefully and living life to the fullest.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This skillfully constructed Sci-Fi novel will engage you with an uncannily prediction of a future catastrophic event that might impact mankind's evolution negatively. But the author is ringing the alarm bell for anyone that care to listen to prevent this avoidable future apocalypse. The book is certainly one of the most hilarious but seriously entertaining sci-fi novels that I have read in a long time. Most sci-fi novels tend to be awash with a lot of technical jargon and lexicon that get the average reader pissed off but be rest assured that this one won't. An American government's employee, Leslie Foy who happens to be a computer expert is murdered in London, UK. It starts like your typical crime or thriller story; however you would be in for a mouth-agape shock after you have finished the book to unravel the identity of the psychopathic killer. Has your personal information been archived into your service provider's or government's Biometrics data-bank? Wow! Almost anyone living in a well organized country has. Are you a novice or maven as to the nightmarish scenario of your personal data getting into the hands of some faceless hoodlums or crime-cartels? Well, this novel is for you and you need to painstakingly read through the 827-thought provoking pages to fully comprehend what the gist is all about. Book excerpt: New science updates the "blue zones" secrets to healthy longevity with a flexible, holistic approach that incorporates epigenetics, nutrition, and mental health. Through his documentary film series, The Human Longevity Project, Jason Prall traveled to select regions around the world known for their long-lived, healthy populations. He sought to understand not only the longevity secrets of these societies but also the scientific basis underpinning their health wisdom. Through his travels, he came to the realization that while the pursuit of longevity is sexy, it’s insufficient and hollow—what most of us really want is an extended life filled with vibrant health, meaning, and purpose. We want to thrive as we age. This book combines his own personal experiences with the knowledge and wisdom gained from interviewing more than 100 health experts and dozens of amazing elders from around the world. You’ll discover that when experiential wisdom is supported by the latest scientific research, a more integrated picture emerges of how you can most effectively increase your happiness, health, and longevity. Life is a mysterious process with a natural development, order, and cycle. It is lent to us for a brief moment before the physical body is left behind. If we wish to thrive in the modern world, we must create a mental, emotional, physical, and energetic environment that is congruent with this natural lifecycle. The reality that humanity has created, filled with next-generation technologies and increasing comforts, presents both unique opportunities and novel challenges. We have the option to choose a more harmonious path that establishes greater coherence within ourselves, one another, and the environment. This is the amazing opportunity that lies before us. When we live from alignment, all life benefits.
