Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Migrating is difficult in itself. It becomes even more difficult if you don't have family or friends who can help you along the way. Although you can research and read about Canada before you arrive, nothing beats first-hand experience and lessons from someone who actually went through it. Done it and succeeded. I migrated to British Columbia, Canada in 2015, together with my husband and then 2 kids. Just like you, my husband and I were worried about the new life we would have in Canada.I lied awake at night wondering what life really was in store for us in Canada. We were unsure if we were making the right decision. How do you get a job before your savings run out? Do you really need to juggle two to three jobs just to make ends meet? How do you adjust to a diverse culture? Where do you meet new friends? I looked for resources that can hopefully provide me with information. I wanted to know what Canadian immigrant life looked like but all I heard was unhappy, horror stories of why we shouldn't pursue migrating.Although there are a lot of helpful organizations in Canada, their focus is mainly on job hunting. Moreover, you can only access them when you already have a valid visa to Canada.Fortunately, we were able to get a job in less than 60 days. What's even better?! We were paid above the minimum wage!In less than six months, we were able to make a contribution to the Canadian education savings program for our kids.In less than two years, we were able to buy our own home.More than luck, I believe that our mindset coupled with our actions made this happen, and I would like to share them with you.In the past six years, I have gathered lessons and experiences that can make living and settling in Canada, easier and faster. A lot of these I wish I had known before we landed in Canada. Most were not taught in Canadian orientations we attended . Most we had to figure out on our own.You might think that getting a job is just about sending resumes to as many companies as you can. Or you can just Google on how to save and grow your money every month. Or you can just ask Canadian friends and families on how to get back the taxes you paid to CRA.But you don't have to do this alone. You don't have to do this by trial and error. You don't have to make the same mistakes as we did. Join me in this journey to learn the secrets on how to make Canadian employers hire you. Read through this book to learn about the Canadian way of life so that you can minimize culture shock. You'll also be able to manage your expectations by learning about the facts versus the myths about living in Canada. This book is not only for immigrants already in Canada. In fact, this book will also serve those who are seriously considering to migrate to Canada. This book will give you a glimpse of the Canadian immigrant life. This book will help you decide if you will continue with your Canada immigration plans.Sit back, relax and let me guide you on how to adjust to your new life in Canada. Let me share my experiences. I want you to know that you too can be successful in Canada - even if it means it will take a few sacrifices.

Dinosaurs that have been tower in height on screen, are often smaller (and sometimes larger) than what we have been led to believe; this book paints a picture of six of the most famous dinosaurs who have roamed the Earth. In this book, you'll learn all about what made this massive giant great--from what they looked like and ate to where they lived and what they did all day. The book covers the following dinosaurs: Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Apatosaurus, Diplodocus, Velociraptor This is an anthology of six books; each book may also be purchased individually. Just search the dinosaurs name and “KidsCap.” KidCaps is an imprint of BookCaps; each month we are adding more history books (just for kids!) to our library. Stop by our website to learn more.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Renowned as a passionate Canadian, bestselling author Mel Hurtig has combed through world statistics to see how Canada really measures up — and the results are astonishing, and often shocking. This book is about how Canada has changed, very much for the worse, in the last twenty years. As a result of these profound (often hidden) changes, we are no longer the people we think we are. To take one example, the Canadian media usually leaves us with the impression that Canadians are really heavily taxed. Yes, compared to the U.S.A., the usual point of comparison. No, compared to other countries with our standard of living, other OECD countries, for example; there we come in 23rd on the high-tax scale. The shocks in this book build up, chapter by chapter. How do we rank in the world in voter turnout? Try 109th. Number of physicians per 100,000 population? Try 54th. Our rank in reducing pollution? 126th out of 146 countries. Some of the statistics are internal, comparing Canada then and now. They back up two of the book’s most powerful themes: the failure of Canadian big business to turn record profits into ongoing investment in our country, and (no coincidence) the sellout of our assets at a rate that no other country would allow. This statistics-based book ranges across all areas of our lives — including health, wages, productivity, culture, the media (“the most concentrated in the world”), and much else. Mel Hurtig’s message is that we can’t do anything to fix the direction we’re drifting in unless we recognize it — and recognize The Truth About Canada.

Book excerpt: When you do an internet search about Canada, you can easily access a number of sites to get information. We have noticed, as people who came to Canada as immigrants and experienced the country themselves, that these sites contain a lot of information which are inaccurate or out of date. What we observed was that many of them were written without being based on a serious work and without being crosschecked, including many misleading and inapplicable information, and repeating each other in some cases. Another issue that drew our attention on such web sites was that, there were irresponsibly written contents creating pink dreams on the minds of people about Canada, leading these people to come to Canada by taking quick decisions without having comprehensive and realistic information. We even noticed the presence of some sites prepared for the purpose of getting ads or infecting your computer with malicious software. After coming to Canada and experiencing the country ourselves; we have seen that even some sites prepared by certain government agencies are written in a language encouraging potential immigrants excessively, probably as a reflection of the country's immigration policies. We have realized that even some official reports published on different dates addressing issues like demographic structure of labour force in the country or the need for skilled immigrants by cities and regions can be misleading not only for potential immigrants but also for investors and researchers trying to understand Canada through statistics. If we consider the fact that many studies and resources do not take into account the effects of the economic recession of recent years, this finding becomes even more accurate.Because of these reasons, we wanted to describe Canada, which is defined with magic words at almost every site on the web, realistically and without exaggeration. Thus, we started to write down the information about what people, thinking of moving to Canada, might face, in the form of a guide. In doing so, we based what we wrote on real data and examples, without making generalizations from optimistic or pessimistic exceptional cases. We, as immigrants living in this country, aimed at telling you the life in Canada step by step through real examples. Our purpose is to support you in forming your decisions, expectations and budget in a sound way, in both the process of application and preparation. We wanted to provide you with the information that is unpredictable and cannot be found elsewhere, especially for the newcomers and those planning to come.In this e-book, you will find answers to a lot of questions which have already come to your mind or which have not, as you have not arrived in Canada yet. What you read and learn will help you review your own conditions comprehensively. If you are about to make an important decision like applying to Canada as an immigrant, you will make your decision quite consciously, thanks to the information you read here. If you decide to come to this beautiful country, which is one of the most preferred cities in the world for immigration, as a result of your assessments, or if your immigration application have already been approved; throughout the process, you will encounter many changes and you will have to do a lot of things starting from your country and continuing in Canada. Since you will be better prepared for your life in Canada with the help of information provided in this e-book, and will have your questions answered beforehand, you are assured that you will have a comfortable process of settling starting right from the airport. We invite you to find out about your life in Canada and what awaits you there, no matter at what stage you are. Now you can sit back and start to think as if you have been admitted to Canada and continue reading as such.

The strong Canadian dollar is making the trip more affordable and attractive than ever. But post-9/11, Canadians face tighter security, higher health costs, and higher fuel costs when traveling to the US. Canadians must budget accordingly. Especially for first-timers, how can they properly plan their trip to ensure a worry-free time away from home? Among the topics this book includes are: the Snowbird lifestyle; financial planning; what documents you need to enter the US; what types of insurance and coverage are recommended; ensuring you have an up-to-date will; how US tax law applies to Canadians if money is earned or property sold; snowbirding in Mexico and Costa Rica; plus FAQs, checklists, and sources of further information.
