Book Synopsis Rückblicke auf die Literatur der DDR by :
Download or read book Rückblicke auf die Literatur der DDR written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2016-08-09 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis The Readability of the World by : Hans Blumenberg
Download or read book The Readability of the World written by Hans Blumenberg and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2022-12-15 with total page 423 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Readability of the World represents Hans Blumenberg's first extended demonstration of the metaphorological method he pioneered in Paradigms for a Metaphorology. For Blumenberg, metaphors are symptomatic of patterns of thought and feeling that escape conceptual formulation but are nonetheless indispensable, because they allow humans to orient themselves in an otherwise overwhelming world. The Readability of the World applies this method to the idea that the world presents itself as a book. The metaphor of the book of nature has been central to Western interpretations of reality, and Blumenberg traces the evolution of this metaphor from ancient Greek cosmology to the model of the genetic code to access the different expectations of reality that it articulates, reflects, and projects. Writing with equal authority on literature and science, theology and philosophy, ancient metaphysics and twentieth-century biochemistry, Blumenberg advances rich and original interpretations of the thinking of a range of canonical figures, including Berkeley, Vico, Goethe, Spinoza, Leibniz, Bacon, Flaubert, and Freud. Through his interdisciplinary, anthropologically sharpened gaze, Blumenberg uncovers a wealth of new insights into the continuities and discontinuities across human history of the longing to contain all of nature, history, and reality in a book, from the Bible, the Talmud, and the Qur'an to Diderot's Encyclopedia and Humboldt's Cosmos to the ACGT of the DNA code.

Download or read book Lesarten written by Alexander Schwarz and published by Peter Lang Gmbh, Internationaler Verlag Der Wissenschaften. This book was released on 1990 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern literature has been treated using a variety of different methods and no one would question the necessity of methodic approach. With regard to medieval literature, the subject of Lesarten, this seems to be less obvious. The main thesis of Lesarten is, however, that methodological explicity plays an even bigger role in the study of medieval texts because here we are investigating a distant culture whose native readers we cannot interview. Lesarten is a collection of papers by American, Canadian and Swiss scholars on semiotic, pragmatic, post-structuralist, psychoanalytic, feminist and new historicist ways to read texts including Parzival, Sir Launfal, Le Roman de la Rose, as well as poems by Guillaume d'Aquitaine or Oswald von Wolkenstein.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Critique in German Philosophy by : María del Rosario Acosta López
Download or read book Critique in German Philosophy written by María del Rosario Acosta López and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 2020-11-01 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Critique has been a central theme in the German philosophical tradition since the eighteenth century. The main goal of this book is to provide a history of this concept from its Kantian inception to contemporary critical theory. Focusing on both canonical and previously overlooked texts and thinkers, the contributors bring to light alternative conceptions of critique within nineteenth- and twentieth-century German philosophy, which have profound implications for contemporary philosophy. By offering a critical revision of the history of modern European philosophy, this book raises new questions about what it means for philosophy to be "critical" today.
