Book excerpt: Improper List Building Strategy Results in a Low Quality, Unproductive Subscriber List! Effective Email List Building for Product and/or Service Marketing is Much, Much More Than Just Gathering a Huge List of Worthless Leads! When it comes to making money online, developing a targeted subscriber base of active and repeat customers is an essential ingredient in the recipe to success. Having a list in your marketing arsenal will instantly maximize your outreach, while making it easier to make money with less work involved. For example, with a mailing list you can simply create broadcasts that go out to your entire subscriber base that feature a blend of high quality information and content with promotional based offers. You can then include affiliate promotions for products and services that you are interested in advertising, as well as gaining valuable feedback from your subscribers on the different types of products that they are interested in. This information will help you develop your own product line of high quality, in demand products with a ready-made customer base waiting to purchase your releases. It’s an exceptionally easy thing to build a list, even if you are a complete newcomer to the world of online marketing and business. The trouble comes with people approach list building in such as a way as to hinder their chances of actually being able to fully monetize their mailing list. Below are some of the information that you are about to learn: Not using a professional autoresponder Poorly structured squeeze page Failing to split test Failing to build brand awareness Promoting irrelevant products Failing to deliver quality content Letting their lists run cold Failing to segment Copy & paste fanatics Failing to monetize

Book excerpt: Often in international comparative studies, it is difficult to refer to older basic texts because they are hidden in old publications, difficult to locate. This book makes a selection of such old but 'essential' texts available and wants to docu-ment the long history of the international/ comparative perspective. 'Standing on the shoulder of giants' allows not only a grounded look back but hopefully also a reliable and experience-based look in the future. The editor of this book, Jost Reischmann, Prof. em., Bamberg University, Germany, has a long history in international and comparative adult education. He presented papers on conferences around the world, from San Diego (USA) to Soul (Korea). When the International Society for Comparative Adult Education (ISCAE) was founded in 1992, he became the first president and developed this society over many years. We hope this new book will help old-timers and new-comers to contribute to the enriching world of international comparative adult education.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The old saying ‘safe as houses’ is being challenged around the world like never before. Over recent decades homeowners have experienced the devastating effects of defects like asbestos, leaky buildings, structural failings, and more recently the combustible cladding crisis. The provision of safe and secure housing is a critical starting point to ensure that social value can be delivered in the built environment. However, some of these dangerous defects have resulted in a lack of security, safety, health, well-being, and social value for households and the wider community. The problems homeowners experience go beyond the substantial financial costs for defect rectification. Too often there has been a lack of government and industry support to help the housing consumer through these issues or to prevent them from occurring to begin with. It is time for a rethink and restructure of government policy, support, and industry practices to better protect housing consumers and deliver high-quality and sustainable housing that creates social value. Through evidence-based research and international case studies, this book focuses on the effects that dangerous defects have on the housing consumer. The ongoing construction cladding crisis is used as a primary case study throughout to highlight these implications, with other previous large-scale defect examples, such as leaky buildings and asbestos. Based upon the range of emerging evidence, we propose ideas for policy makers, construction and built environment professionals, owners corporations, and households on how to move forward towards a higher-quality, sustainable, and socially valuable way of residential living. Government policy has long focused on ‘making industry work’ through building regulations and standards. It is now time for greater government and industry focus on the consumer to make ‘consumer protection work’ in the built environment. There is a need to prevent dangerous defects like combustible cladding, better support consumers when defects emerge, and to create buildings for social value rather than minimum standards. Now is the time to build a better future for the end-user.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our nation is still reeling from the 346 fatalities suffered on two flights of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes, the first in May 2017 and the second in March 2019. These are just one of the series of costly and deadly consequences of defective products described in this book. Besides the Boeing 737 planes, the examples of bad products include automobiles, electrical energy networks, pipelines, bridges and other large structures, banks, drinkable water, and financial services. While the immediate or proximate causes of the disasters have been bad design or bad production, the root or underlying causes have been bad corporate management and business cultures caused by corporate leaders. The final five chapters provide short essays on product design, production, quality control, management, and culture and what the leaders of our private companies and government agencies might do to reduce the pitfalls that have led to so many defective products and their dire consequences.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The New Deal and American Society, 1933–1941 explores what some have labeled the third American revolution, in one concise and accessible volume. This book examines the emergence of modern America, beginning with the 100 Days legislation in 1933 through to the second New Deal era that began in 1935. This revolutionary period introduced sweeping social and economic legislation designed to provide the American people with a sense of hope while at the same time creating regulations designed to safeguard against future depressions. It was not without critics or failures, but even these proved significant in the ongoing discussions concerning the idea of federal power, social inclusion, and civil rights. Uncertainties concerning aggressive, nationalistic states like Italy, Germany, and Japan shifted the focus of FDR's administration, but the events of World War II solidified the ideas and policies begun during the 1930s, especially as they related to the welfare state. The legacy of the New Deal would resonate well into the current century through programs like Social Security, unemployment compensation, workers' rights, and the belief that the federal government is responsible for the economic well-being of its citizenry. The volume includes many primary documents to help situate students and bring this era to life. The text will be of interest to students of American history, economic and social history, and, more broadly, courses that engage social change and economic upheaval.
