El peso de la gestión y explotación de la caza recae en esta región en los cotos privados, predominando los de caza menor en número de cotos y superficie acotada de todas las provincias. Dado que la titularidad del aprovechamiento de la caza y la propiedad de los terrenos no coincide necesariamente, se produce un reflejo de los desequilibrios de la estructura de la propiedad, cuando existen, en la distribución de los acotados por intervalos de superficie. Predominan los cotos con titularidad de particulares, seguidos, sobre todo en Ciudad Real y Toledo, por los de sociedades anónimas, sociedades de cazadores y sociedades anónimas, organizaciones de caza.
