Ces réseaux doivent procéder à une évaluation pour repérer les dysfonctionnements et obtenir des financements. Dans ce travail nous avons voulu réfléchir aux indicateurs pertinents qui permettraient d'évaluer les réseaux douleur chronique, travail jusqu'alors jamais réalisé. Nous nous sommes surtout appuyés sur le guide des réseaux de l'ANAES de 2004. Naturellement, les indicateurs évaluant la pluridisciplinarité de l'équipe professionnelle, la proximité et la coordination des soins, la satisfaction de la prise en charge puis l'amélioration de la douleur et de ses retentissements sont apparus comme pertinents. Mais la formation des professionnels de santé se présente comme un critère qui mérite d'être développé puisqu'elle sera à l'origine d'une transformation des pratiques professionnelles libérales et hospitalières en familiarisant ceux-là avec l'esprit de pluridisciplinarité, et la prise en charge globale d'un patient douloureux chronique. Enfin, l'évaluation des retentissements des réseaux douleur, sur les pratiques professionnelles et leur environnement nécessitent des moyens spécifiques, dont les réseaux sont dépourvus, et l'aide des organismes déjà habitués à la démarche d'évaluation.
