This book was released on 2015-07-21 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Insects of Economic Importance Outlines of Lectures in Economic Entomology Not all insects of economic importance are included in these outlines. To discuss them all, a book of many times the size of this would be needed. However, the principal pests of our main fruits, vegetables, cereals, farm animals, shade-trees, and of the household are discussed. A brief summary of the life habits of each, so far as they are known, is made, and the latest methods of control are outlined. In addition, a concise discussion of insecticides is given together with formulae and directions for making and applying them. Finally, references are given to the more important sources of information regarding the insects and their control. As far as possible, references are made to bulletins available to the general student and to those publications giving good illustrations of the insects, together with the most approved methods of control. It is neither possible nor desirable to give references to all the literature on any one insect pest but additional references to the later literature as it appears from time to time will be cited during the course.
