Book Synopsis Language Et Ses Contexts by : Pierre-Alexis Mével
Download or read book Language Et Ses Contexts written by Pierre-Alexis Mével and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2010 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inspired by a postgraduate French studies conference (University of Nottingham, 10 September 2008), this volume explores linguistic form and content in relation to a variety of contexts, considering language alongside music, images, theatre, human experience of the world, and another language. Each essay asks what it is to understand language in a given context, and how, in spite of divergent expressive possibilities, a linguistic situation interacts with other contexts, renegotiating boundaries and redefining understanding. The book lies at the intersection of linguistics and hermeneutics, seeking to (a) contextualise philosophical and linguistic discussions of communication across a range of media and (b) illustrate their intimate relations, despite differing strategies or emphases.

Download or read book Last Falls written by Terence DEN HOED and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-12-31 with total page 546 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This essay about political fiction, popular musical biography, psychological reflection and, in the final chapter, ""A dead-end universe,"" science-fiction, pushes the limits of fiction and makes in the field of literary essays, whose territory is always characterized by terminology problems, at the edge of pure concepts, which are to be found in other essays that aren't expressly apparent here: philosophical essays. One thread that runs through these complementary chapters as tree models is that related approaches create the unity of this essay around high standards, individualism, intellectual rigor and disillusionment. The Last Falls metaphor, explaining the title of the work, is reflected in incomplete elements of truth, which exist in many areas and condemn the exercise undertaken to synthetize information to certain failure.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The late Jean-Louis Chrétien’s responsorial and polyphonic style of thinking is nothing less than a performance of gratitude, which manifests the many ways and manners that our wounded finitude is graced and blessed along the peregrine path of human existence. Finitude’s Wounded Praise: Responses to Jean-Louis Chrétien is a receptive celebratory response to the immense fecundity and potential of Chrétien’s “thank you” of gratitude. This volume gathers leading Chrétien scholars and thinkers to explicate, explore, think with, and commemorate his thought. The essays in the volume engage Chrétien’s work from three primary fields: phenomenological, literary/poetic, and theological. Finitude’s Wounded Praise is a diverse, exploratory, and impressive testament to the expansive and enduring richness of Chrétien’s oeuvre.
Book Synopsis The Brothers Le Nain by : Esther Susan Bell
Download or read book The Brothers Le Nain written by Esther Susan Bell and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2016-01-01 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A beautiful volume that brings to light the forgotten Le Nain brothers, a trio of 17th-century French master painters who specialized in portraiture, religious subjects, and scenes of everyday peasant life In France in the 17th century, the brothers Antoine (c. 1598-1648), Louis (c. 1600/1605-1648), and Mathieu (1607-1677) Le Nain painted images of everyday life for which they became posthumously famous. They are celebrated for their depictions of middle-class leisure activities, and particularly for their representations of peasant families, who gaze out at the viewer. The uncompromising naturalism of these compositions, along with their oddly suspended action, imparts a sense of dignity to their subjects. Featuring more than sixty paintings highlighting the artists' full range of production, including altarpieces, private devotional paintings, portraits, and the poignant images of peasants for which the brothers are best known, this generously illustrated volume presents new research concerning the authorship, dating, and meaning of the works by well-known scholars in the field. Also groundbreaking are the results of a technical study of the paintings, which constitutes a major contribution to the scholarship on the Le Nain brothers.
Book Synopsis Michel Henry et l'affect de l'art by : Adnen Jdey
Download or read book Michel Henry et l'affect de l'art written by Adnen Jdey and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2011-11-25 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The studies in this book set out to examine the labile resonances of phenomenology and art in Michel Henry, by examining the different figures of movement given to the concept of the aesthetic by the philosopher. They are preceded by one of Michel Henry’s own texts.
Book Synopsis The Most Beautiful Ugly Sound in the World by : Catherine Guesde
Download or read book The Most Beautiful Ugly Sound in the World written by Catherine Guesde and published by EDITIONS MF. This book was released on 2020-12-19 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Les sciences humaines dans le centre de l’art written by CORDONNIER Sarah and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2012-09-24 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
