Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book excerpt: Written in Spanish by an experienced instructor, this textbook introduces students with no prior background in linguistics to the syntax of Spanish, exploring the building blocks of complex linguistic expressions. Chapter learning objectives, numerous detailed examples, and summaries, enable students to build a solid knowledge and understanding of syntactic ideas from scratch. Both advanced and introductory exercises are included in every chapter, allowing students at all levels to put concepts into practice. Further reading suggestions, and expansion boxes highlight more complex developments, providing students with a platform for further exploration. This is an essential resource for introductory courses on Spanish syntax and linguistics.
Book Synopsis Legal Interpretation and Scientific Knowledge by : David Duarte
Download or read book Legal Interpretation and Scientific Knowledge written by David Duarte and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-09-25 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the question of whether legal interpretation is a scientific activity. The law’s dependency on language, at least for the usual communication purposes, not only makes legal interpretation the main task performed by those whose work involves the law, but also an unavoidable step in the process of resolving a legal case. This task of decoding the words and sentences used by normative authorities while enacting norms, carried out in compliance with the principles and rules of the natural language adopted, is prone to all of the difficulties stemming from the uncertainty intrinsic to all linguistic conventions. In this context, seeking to determine whether legal interpretation can be scientific or, in other words, can comply with the requirements for scientific knowledge, becomes a central question. In fact, the coherent application of the law depends on a knowledge regarding the meaning of normative sentences that can be classified (at least) as being structured, systematically organized and tendentially objective. Accordingly, this book focuses on analyzing precisely these problems; its respective contributions offer a range of revealing perspectives on both the problems and their ramifications.

Book Synopsis Legal Power and Legal Competence by : Gonzalo Villa-Rosas
Download or read book Legal Power and Legal Competence written by Gonzalo Villa-Rosas and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-07-11 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume explores the concepts of legal power and legal competence in fourteen original, cutting-edge chapters by leading legal theorists. Legal power and legal competence are major topics in jurisprudence, as they concern a range of practices, common to all modern legal systems, that empower individuals to bring about changes in the respective system by changing their own legal position or the legal positions of others. This compilation covers five broad themes. The chapters in the first section address open questions on the meaning of legal power and legal competence, while those in the second tackle problems regarding their normativity. The third section is devoted to specifically exploring the relationship between legal power and constitutive norms. The fourth focuses on the analysis of legal officials and legal offices, while the fifth and final section assesses various theories of legal power and legal competence.

Book Synopsis Proportionality, Balancing, and Rights by : Jan-R. Sieckmann
Download or read book Proportionality, Balancing, and Rights written by Jan-R. Sieckmann and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book focuses on Robert Alexy's theory of constitutional rights. Alexy systematically presented the theory in his seminal book Theorie der Grundrechte (1985; Engl. translation Theory of Constitutional Rights, 2002) and continued to develop it in numerous subsequent articles. Arguably still the most influential theory of constitutional rights, it has found widespread academic support, as well as recognition in several constitutional jurisdictions. On the other hand, it has also been the object of considerable criticism. The aim of this book is to outline the central aspects of Alexy's theory as he sees them, and to further develop the principles of constitutional, fundamental, and human rights by applying a constructive criticism of his theory.
Book Synopsis Translation, Mediation and Accessibility for Linguistic Minorities by : María Pilar Castillo Bernal
Download or read book Translation, Mediation and Accessibility for Linguistic Minorities written by María Pilar Castillo Bernal and published by Frank & Timme GmbH. This book was released on 2022-04-15 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Linguistic minorities are everywhere, and they are diverse. In this context, linguistic mediation activities – whether translation or interpreting – are key to the social inclusion of any kind of linguistic minority. In most societies autochthonous linguistic minorities coexist with foreignspeaking minorities and people with (or without) disabilities who rely linguistically or medially adapted on texts to access information. The present volume draws on this broad understanding of the concept of linguistic minorities to explore some of the newest developments in the field of translation studies and linguistics. The articles are structured around three main axes: • accessibility of content, especially audiovisual translation • intralingual translation, including initiatives regarding plain language, easy-to-read and easy language • mediation for minorities in a broader sense and language ideologies.

Download or read book ¿QUOD EST, SUMMUS? ¿EN QUE QUEDAMOS, SUPREMO? written by VIII QUORUM VIII and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2014-08-20 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
