Esta perspectiva histórica es el núcleo de sentido de SS2, que nos permite entender cómo funcionan los procesos de mediatización, no sólo desde un punto de vista conceptual sino, fundamentalmente, analítico e histórico. De este modo, la SS2 es el cierre, y la profundización, de una teoría sobre la semiosis y, al mismo tiempo, una apertura a una semiótica posthumanista.
