Book Synopsis Pomeriggi in Soffitta by : Giorgio Pannunzio
Download or read book Pomeriggi in Soffitta written by Giorgio Pannunzio and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2011-10-28 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis The Art of Neil Gaiman by : Hayley Campbell
Download or read book The Art of Neil Gaiman written by Hayley Campbell and published by Hachette UK. This book was released on 2017-06-19 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Novelist, comics writer, scriptwriter, poet, occasional artist - a master of several genres and inadvertent leader of many cults - there are few creative avenues Neil Gaiman hasn't ventured down. From unforgettable books like The Ocean at the End of the Lane and American Gods to ground-breaking comics and graphic novels like The Sandman and Violent Cases; from big screen fantasies like Coraline to small screen epics like Doctor Who; and from short stories to songwriting, stage plays to radio plays, journalism to filmmaking, and all points in-between, The Art of Neil Gaiman is the first comprehensive, full-colour examination of Gaiman's work to date. Author Hayley Campbell, a close friend of Neil's since she was a small child, spent many months rummaging through Neil's attic to source the never-before-seen manuscripts, notes, cartoons, drawings and personal photographs for this book; these are complemented by artwork and sketches from all of his major works and his own intimate recollections. Each project is examined in turn, from genesis to fruition, and positioned in the wider narrative of Gaiman's creative life, affording unparalleled access to the inner workings of the writer's mind. Utterly comprehensive, lavishly illustrated, The Art of Neil Gaiman is the fully authorised account of the life and work of one of the greatest storytellers of all time.

Book Synopsis Supernovae and Gamma-Ray Bursters by : Kurt Weiler
Download or read book Supernovae and Gamma-Ray Bursters written by Kurt Weiler and published by Springer. This book was released on 2008-01-11 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the dawn of mankind, observers of the sky have wondered at the sudden appearance of new stars on the seemingly unchanging heavens and, for at least 2000 years, have recorded these phenomena in their annals and archives. Even in more modern times, since the discovery of SN1885A in S Andromeda which ?gured in the important “island universe” discussions of the 1920’s, the puzzle of supernovae (SNe) has played an important role in astrophysics. Only with the seminal work of Fritz Zwicky and Walter Baade in the 1930’s did we begin to understand the di?erences between novae and SNe and the importance of SNe as the fonts of energy for the interstellar medium and as drivers of chemical evolution in galaxies. As recently as the 1940’s and 1950’s the early days of radio astronomy were heavily in?uenced by the familiar names of Cassiopeia A and Taurus A, two young supernova remnants, and two Nobel prizes have been awarded for discovery and study of a related phenomenon, pulsars. In spite of the great age of the study of SNe, since at least the Chinese records of SN185and probably earlier, the ?eld is, in fact, very young having only attracted a large devoted following since the spectacular Type II SN1987A in the Large Magellanic Cloud, the ?rst naked-eye SN in more than 400 years.

Book Synopsis The Philosophy of Rudolf Steiner by : Thomas Redwood
Download or read book The Philosophy of Rudolf Steiner written by Thomas Redwood and published by . This book was released on 2022-06 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nearly a century after his death, the Austrian philosopher and spiritual scientist Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) continues to have an influence in education, medicine, agriculture and art. However, the content of Steiner's philosophy remains largely unknown to the broader public. This book assumes the task of making Steiner's complex spiritual philosophy more accessible. Using simple terms, it presents the fundamentals of Steiner's philosophy as a logical development of key ideas, which Steiner first proposed in The Philosophy of Freedom and later developed into Anthroposophy. As a basic introduction, this book offers a simple first step for further study into Rudolf Steiner and Anthroposophy.
