Je me suppose en face d'un enfant suffisamment instruit de son catéchisme, et âgé de neuf à quatorze ou quinze ans. Il y a néanmoins, quant à la science de la piété, des enfants bien plus vieux que cela, des enfants de trente, quarante et même quatre-vingts ans; sauf la forme, qui n'est pas faite pour eux, je prends la liberté de leur offrir, à eux aussi, mon petit travail. Simpson also examines the many difficulties the Congrégation faced, which included natural disasters and the dangers involved in trying to reach women and children in settlements throughout New France, as far away as Acadia.
