Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kisses in the Wind begins with attorney Neil Myers recuperating at home from his latest psychiatric relapse. At the time, Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are involved in an intense struggle to be the Democratic Party presidential nominee. A decision about seating Michigan delegates angers Hillary's female supporters. Neil takes this to mean there will be severe female retaliation, which casts him into another mental relapse. Neil believes that men's relevance in the world is slipping. He was once a criminal attorney who switched to representing men in lopsided divorce and child custody cases. When one of his disgruntled clients killed his children's mothers and wounded the female judge in the courtroom, Neil blames her unreasonable ruling in the case as the cause of the shootings. That incident sent Neil for psychiatric treatment and he has never been the same. In his present state of mind, he finds that his fears are being realized. Women have rebelled and are now in total control of the U.S. and most of the world.

Book excerpt: From the author of the international bestseller Papa Hemingway, based on his own experiences: the story of a man struggling to overcome a rare syndrome that causes terrifying hallucinations, who eventually, despite the odds, finds love. Chet Tremaine is living his best life. A successful lawyer with a loyal best friend, the arts and culture of New York City at his doorstep, and a peaceful retreat in Connecticut, Chet has it figured out. Even when a freak tennis accident leaves him blind in one eye, Chet is confident he'll be able to bounce back. But then he starts hallucinating: unknown children playing in his living room, pine needles seasoning his salad, wire grids barring access to his bathroom. His doctor allays his worst fears, only to deliver an even more shocking diagnosis: Chet's eye injury has left him with Charles Bonnet syndrome, and this rare disease is incurable. Chet is going to be plagued by these hallucinations for the rest of his life. His social life impaired, his job in jeopardy, Chet is close to becoming a recluse when he helps a woman who's collapsed on a Manhattan street corner. She turns out to be Emma Vicky, a warm and witty British actress who suffers from Ménière's disease, a condition that causes severe vertigo. Like Chet, she feels restrained by her chronic illness and terribly isolated--until their meeting renews her desire to open up, let another person in. But Chet can't make the same leap. Instead, he decides to make a final Hail Mary attempt to find a cure, embarking on a spiritual quest that will take him all the way to the mountains of Nepal. By turns funny, harrowing, and inspirational, Kissing the Wind is A. E. Hotchner's final, and finest, achievement. AN ANCHOR ORIGINAL.

Book excerpt: My Unsung Soul presents a look into the heart of a poet. It considers six distinctive themeslove, nostalgia, sorrow, life, testimony, and warfare. Within each element the verses explore a gamut of emotions designed to invoke the deepest sentiments, memories, and dreams. These verses feature perfectly painted pictures and gardens of good and evil in equal representation, depicting yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Author Derrick DerRon Holloway has loved and disdained himself between the lines, revealing what served as his souls salvation and leaving judgment and condemnation entirely up to others. He travels deep into his darkest and all too familiar sins, expressed in his addiction to She in the transparency of his testimony pieces. He hopes to hold up mirrors to help others search their souls in an attempt to find redemption in the end. Holloway speaks not of heroics but of things that often go unspoken and unheard. In this collection of poetry, one man presents expressions of his heart and soul, offering moments of nostalgia, reminiscence, and love.

She tells him that she had been abducted by a highly advanced civilization called Pralmist in a parallel dimension. But something went wrong, and she ended up on another world called Maylan, unique in that its reality is everyone has powers that humans only read about in comic books… Now, the Pralmistians are able to transport their armies to other dimensions and have invaded looking for Tina and to bring Maylan under their control. But there is a prophecy that when a woman from an unknown world appears, her abductors will invade. They must bring the Chosen One, the woman’s one true love, to Maylan… Facing overwhelming odds, Jim, Tina, and the Maylan Warriors must go on a journey to find the four Sacreida Stones to form the Sacreida Sword, the one weapon on Maylan that can destroy the Pralmistians. Can a peaceful agrarian warrior society lead by a man with no military training bring an entire world together and lead them against the Pralmistians, whose army has completely conquered their entire universe?

Book excerpt: Natalie Gwyn uses humor to brilliantly capture how God led and helped this mother of two to adopt four children from Ethiopia and successfully bond her blended family. A happy, working wife, already birth mother of two healthy young children -- a boy and a girl -- doubled the size of her family by adopting four Ethiopian children. Why? Her answer: "God." Popular blogger Natalie Gwyn has been cited widely for her candid, insightful, often humorous writing on cross-cultural adoptive Christian families (which number more than 4 million). HuffPo has linked to her controversial posts and celebrities like Kathie Lee Gifford have quoted and pictured her on social media. Here Natalie tells her whole mom story, including the only-God-could-do-this backstory. Her lighthearted narrative begins with the nudge of God toward the uncomfortable. She and her husband are almost certain they have misunderstood what the Almighty is asking of them, and with self-deprecating humor Natalie allows readers a glimpse into the process by which this already imperfect mom agreed to transnational, transracial adoption of more children than she already has. Natalie then takes the reader on her family's adventure to Ethiopia to legally adopt the three siblings God has chosen to add to their family. With the skill of a detective novelist, she reveals their discovery of a fourth sibling, their critical decision not to leave this child behind, and their harrowing quest to find, woo and legally adopt her, too. Similar to the laugh-out-loud humor of books on blended step-families, Natalie shares the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen scenes of this adoptive family's huge adjustments. She brilliantly captures each child's and each parent's perspective and, in doing so, reveals God in their midst.

Book excerpt: This book was written based on my experiences in matters of the heart. I realize that at times the heart tells us things that our brains dont comprehend, but we know that we really feel this way. Take for instance teenagers. I suppose that when we mature as adults, we say that we were "infatuated" with love or that we really didnt love the person that we were in love with. Please let me tell you that this process of thinking is wrong! Feelings are feelings, and we must deal with them, whether real, false, love, hate, etc. Shouldnt it be us that deal with our feeling and not have our feelings deal with us? Are we that lovesick, heartbroken teen that aches for someone to love him/her? No, so how dare we tell our daughter/son what to feel. I believe that be should let teens express and deal with their own feelings and only offer sympathetic, understanding, and sound advice, unless of course they will be physically hurt, then that protective "mother lion" in all of us have to say something. So, how do we teach our children what love means? We dont! I mean, will they believe us anyway? I believe that in matters of the heart, words can speak louder than action and perhaps poetry is the path to do so. I mean, what is a lyric, but poetry in music and what is speech, but poetry in motion? Perhaps by reading this book, someone who is heartbroken will look at the good things in a relationship and reflect on those good things as a learning experience and also learn from the bad things as well. By doing so, he/she will not make the same mistake again (we hope). I hope that I have shed some light on this crazy thing called love and have made at least one person, whether male, female, adult, or child (especially teenagers) feel that there will ALWAYS be someone in the world (aside from God) who knows what he/she is going through, has been there, and had learned from these experiences whether good or bad and will turn them into a beautiful gift for all the world to share.

However, they never said anything about kissing a rake… Briar Bourne’s matchmaking career could be summed up in two words—comic disaster. Unless she can learn about the irresistible forces that draw men and women together, her professional future looks rather bleak. But Briar has an intriguing plan—enlisting London’s most irredeemable rake to teach her everything he knows about attraction. Given his notorious reputation, it’s no surprise that Nicholas Blacklowe, the Earl of Edgemont, requests one thing in exchange for his tutelage. For every lesson, he wants a kiss in return. And what harm could there be in a simple kiss? After all, Briar would never fall for a scoundrel… Nicholas has no romantic notions about love, and no intention of changing his ways. He’s only helping Briar so that she can find the perfect bride for his jilted cousin. Yet Briar is so clever, so curious, so candid—so blasted tempting—that soon, Nicholas can’t stop wondering what it might be like if he was irresistible to her. Ten lessons. Ten kisses. And a million ways to fall hopelessly, scandalously in love.
