Book excerpt: It was a murder made for TV: a trail of tiny bloody footprints. An innocent toddler playing beside her mother's body. Stay tuned for the next riveting thriller in the Taylor Jackson series by New York Times bestselling author J.T. Ellison. Cameras and questions don't usually faze Nashville homicide lieutenant Taylor Jackson, but when pregnant Corinne Wolff is brutally murdered in her own home, the media frenzy surrounding the case is particularly nasty. When the seemingly model mommy is linked to an amateur porn website with underage actresses and unwitting players, the sharks begin to circle. The shock is magnified when an old adversary uses the sexy secret footage to implicate Taylor in a murder—an accusation that threatens her career, her reputation and her relationship. Both cases hinge on the evidence—real or manufactured—of crimes that go beyond passion, into the realm of obsessive vengeance and shocking betrayal. Just what the networks love. Previously Published. Book Synopsis Judas: A Lenten Drama by : Sharon Thompson

Book excerpt: I recently attended a performance of Peter Shaffer’s play, Equus. The play was inspired by an irrational crime—a young man had intentionally blinded a number of horses with a sharp object. The playwright knew nothing about this individual or the circumstances surrounding the crime—only of the crime itself. The play seeks to create a mental world where the crime can be made comprehensible. This short drama is of the same nature. We do not really know Judas: we only know his crime. What could make the crime of Judas comprehensible? We have limited information about Judas. He was from a Judean village, Kerioth; he was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus of Nazareth, the only non-Galilean. He was appointed treasurer of the group; he betrayed Jesus into the hands of the Jewish authorities and subsequently committed suicide. Since we do not know the “real” Judas, or never will, his characterization must, of course, be imaginary. This drama is an attempt to present one possible set of circumstances that could have motivated Judas to act as he did.

Book excerpt: Liam Neeson starred on Broadway in this compelling depiction of Oscar Wilde just before and after his imprisonment. Act One captures him in 1895 on the eve of his arrest. He still has a chance to flee to the continent but chooses to let the train leave without him. In the second act, Wilde is in Naples more than two years later, after his release from Reading Gaol. In exile, he is drawn to a reunion with his unworthy lover and a final betrayal. -- Publisher's website.

Download or read book The Completely Guilty Bystander written by Mark Gaberman and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2000-03 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After reading Whitman's "Leaves of Grass", Robert Louis Stevenson called it "a book which tumbled the world upside down for me." Stevenson died in 1894, so we can only imagine what he might have thought of "The Completely Guilty Bystander". Perhaps after leafing through stories such as "Grace Jones and the Garden of Eden", "Playing Doctor at the Reception" or "Mortal Combat with the Paper Pillow", Mr. Stevenson's view of the world might once again have spun dangerously out of control. Maybe "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" would have mentioned the hidden but surprisingly possible benefits of organized crime to the community. Or the desperate lengths a man will go to in the course of trying to get his phone service re-connected. The world can only be left to wonder if he even would have added a section on anger in everyday life and how it could relate back to TV''s "The Incredible Hulk". Of course, if Robert Louis Stevenson read those stories today, he'd be about 150 years old, so really, that act alone would have been very impressive.

Book excerpt: From a #1 New York Times–bestselling author: The story of Judas Iscariot—and the stunning betrayal that changed the course of history. One of the great dramas of the biblical era is brought to thrilling new life in this epic novel told from the unique perspective of Judas Iscariot himself. This is the story of Judas the myth, condemned by Dante to the most terrifying circle of Hell; Judas the man, the son of wealth and power who fought to suppress the lusts of the flesh and the sin of pride to become one of the twelve original disciples of Jesus Christ; and Judas the apostle, victim of a diabolical lie, history’s arch traitor, who sold his Lord for thirty pieces of silver, and sealed his fate with a kiss. From Judas’s years as the young rebel of an affluent family undone by his own idealism to his victimization by Pontius Pilate to the crucifixion and Christ’s resurrection, I, Judas “read[s] like a modern novel of intrigue and thrills” (Chattanooga Times). The final entry, following Dear and Glorious Physician and Great Lion of God, in a trilogy celebrating key historical figures of the Bible, it is one of the most powerful and revelatory works of religious fiction ever published.
