Book Synopsis The Land Before the Kingdom of Israel by : Brendon C. Benz
Download or read book The Land Before the Kingdom of Israel written by Brendon C. Benz and published by Penn State Press. This book was released on 2016-05-12 with total page 511 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ancient Israel is widely regarded as having been set apart from the nations, representing a unique sociopolitical entity in the ancient world. United by a common tribal identity and a commitment to worshiping the God who delivered them from Egypt exclusively, the Israelites established an egalitarian community that stood in contrast to the hierarchical polities of their polytheistic. In spite of these traditions, modern scholarship for the most part has recognized the points of continuity between Canaanite religion and Israelite religion and concluded that the two religious systems largely developed from the same cultural milieu. However, scholars continue to contend that the Canaanites’ and Israelites’ social and political structures were distinct. Most scholars agree that the Israelites were geographical, economic, and/or political outsiders. The Land before the Kingdom of Israel responds to this modern perspective by contributing an original reconstruction of the sociopolitical landscape of the Late Bronze Age Levant that exposes points of continuity between the polities and populations that inhabited the land and those that were later identified with Israel. By examining multiple sources, Brendon Benz isolates and accounts for complex social and political realities that have gone unnoticed. In so doing, he sets the stage for viewing premonarchic Israel and the Bible’s depiction of it in a new way. In addition to shedding light on historical memories embedded in the books of Judges and Samuel that do not conform to conventional wisdom regarding Israel’s early history, Benz demonstrates that a contingent of the early Israelites was heir to the social and political structures of their Late Bronze Age Levantine predecessors.
Book Synopsis The Israeli Economy (Routledge Revivals) by : Yair Aharoni

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1991, during a significant stagnation in the Israeli economy, this title discusses the causes of the economic downturn, and assesses the country’s prospects. Throughout, Aharoni measures the economic problems Israel has endured against the social and economic successes it has been able to achieve. He highlights the incongruities of the aspirations of Israel’s founders and supporters and the reality, as well as the interplay of economic and political forces that have shaped this. With a detailed introduction to the ideology and development of the state of Israel, and a history of the Israeli economy and its institutional structure, this title will be of significant value to any student studying the economic history of Israel and the Middle East.

Book Synopsis A Great Revealing for All Peoples & All Nations by : Ernest Reagan Clark II
Download or read book A Great Revealing for All Peoples & All Nations written by Ernest Reagan Clark II and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2019-08-16 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After many years of study and research the author came to the realization that what most Christians believe contradicts the very WORD of GOD. This is a major cause for all the angst in the world today, as well as in America. Seminaries and preachers contradict the very WORD of GOD every Sunday. He recently shared a copy of this with a seminary degreed missionary/preacher that spent about 35 years on the mission field in South America. Three weeks later he got a phone call from the man. He confessed that he had been taught a lie in seminary and also confessed that his eyes had been opened to truth. The man said that he would like to call the author “father” but that he would take the admonishment of Jesus “to call no man on earth father” seriously. He said that he would be considered least in the kingdom of God for all of time due to what he had taught and preached for many decades. Are you ready to be set free from the chains that bind?

Download or read book Matthew's Messianic Shepherd-king written by Joel Willitts and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2007 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In two places in the First Gospel (Matt 10:5b-6; 15:24) the Messianic mission of Jesus and his disciples is limited to a group called 'the lost sheep of the house of Israel'. In light of Matthew's intense interest in Jesus' Davidic Messiahship and the Jewish Shepard-King traditions surrounding King David it is argued that the 'lost sheep of the house of Israel'refers to remnants of the former northern kingdom of Israel who continued to reside in the northern region of the ideal Land of Israel.
