Hier wird Armut auf das Freizeitverhalten dargestellt und welche Auswirkungen es auf die Peergroup von Kindern haben kann. Die Armutssituation von Kindern lässt sich auch in dem Bereich der Freizeit erkennen. Der Begriff Freizeit wird dabei in zwei Stränge definiert. Zum einen gibt es den negativen Freizeitbegriff, damit sind Tätigkeiten wie die Grundbedürfnisse gemeint, beispielsweise Essen und Schlafen oder auch Erledigung von Hausaufgaben, die aber der Nicht-Freizeit zugerechnet werden. Mit positiven Freizeitbegriff ist zum anderen die Freie Zeit, die zur Verfügung steht, gemeint und damit wird die tatsächliche freie Tätigkeit als Freizeit definiert. Positive Freizeit stellt Heranwachsenden viele Erfahrungs- und Erlebnismöglichkeiten bereit, die von großer Bedeutung für deren Bedürfnisse und Zufriedenheit sind. Somit können soziale Kompetenzen entwickelt werden, die wichtig für die Persönlichkeitsbildung, für die Problembewältigung und die Grundlage für das Bewerkstelligen der Entwicklungsaufgaben von Heranwachsenden sind. Ihre Freizeit verbringen sie eher mit Gleichaltrigen als mit Erwachsenen oder ihren Eltern und im Sinne ihrer Vorstellung. Digitale Medien spielen seit langer Zeit eine große Rolle bei Heranwachsenden. So dass bei der Freizeitgestaltung von Kindern der Anteil an digitalen Medien beziehungsweise Bildschirmmedien kontinuierlich ansteigt, was das Freizeitverhalten konstitutiv geändert hat. Laut der KIM Studie aus dem Jahr 2018 beträgt der Anteil von 51 % der befragten Kinder, die schon ein eigenes Smartphone besitzen. Bei den Treffen mit Freunden wir das Smartphone am häufigsten genutzt, für die Organisation im Freundeskreis. Von Armut betroffene Kinder haben eine weniger schöne Freizeitgestaltung und erfahren folglich eine Benachteiligung, weil ihre Familien arm sind. Die dadurch sozial benachteiligten Kinder haben weitere schwerwiegende Problematiken, die von Armut beeinflusst wird. Die Armut von Kindern bedeutet unter anderem, dass sie dadurch sozial benachteiligt sind, und unterversorgt in Hinblick unter anderem auch auf Kultur oder Konsum. Die Armutslage von Kindern haben wesentliche Auswirkungen auf die soziale und gesundheitliche Entwicklung und auch die Freizeit. Kinderarmut führt weniger zur Persönlichen Entfaltung und Entwicklung. Durch fehlende Freizeitaktivitäten entsteht bei Kindern, die von Armut betroffen sind, Scheu zu kulturellen Angeboten, wie die Oper.

Ein weiterer Aspekt, der mich dazu bewegt und motiviert hat diese Arbeit zu schreiben, ist die Tatsache, dass Armut zeitlos ist und nicht erst seit kurzem besteht. Auf Grund unserer eigenen Wahrnehmung und Vorstellung von Armut entsteht oft das Gefühl, dass Armut ausschließlich in den Entwicklungsländern existiert. Doch auch in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland sind sehr viele Familien und somit auch die in den Familien lebenden Kinder von der Armut betroffen und müssen am Existenzminimum leben. Gerade kinderreiche Familien und Alleinerziehende sind in Deutschland häufig von Armut betroffen. Da Armut nicht nur die reine Lebensqualität, sondern auch beispielsweise die Bildungschancen der Kinder und Jugendlichen beeinflussen wird Armut zunehmend auch als ein gesellschaftliches und soziales Problem gesehen. Armutsforscher sehen deshalb in den Kindern die Gruppe, die durch die Armut am stärksten beeinträchtigt wird. Trotz allem gerät das Problem der Armut in der Öffentlichkeit oft in Vergessenheit und in das Unterbewusstsein der Bevölkerung, dabei wird es in der heutigen Zeit immer wichtiger sich mit der Frage zu beschäftigen: “Poverty is a problem, or it is nothing. What it cannot be is not a problem” (Albrecht zit. n. Alcock, 1993, S.4). Im Folgenden werde ich versuchen diese Frage zu beantworten und behandle hierfür einige Aspekte, die die Armut mit sich bringt. Im Nachstehenden werde ich zunächst eine Definition von Armut, sowie eine Definition von Kind aufführen, da sich meine Leitfrage auf die soziale Armut in der Kindheit bezieht und diese in den einzelnen Bereichen unterschiedlich definiert werden. Im Anschluss daran werde ich mithilfe von Fakten und Zahlen belegen, dass gerade die Kinderarmut immer drastischer zunimmt und werde die Folgen verdeutlichen, die gerade die soziale Armut mit sich bringt.

The authors of this collection seek to fill that gap in the ethnographic record by drawing attention to the deep historical attachments of island communities to rivers, and the ways in which those attachments are changing in response to various forms of economic development and social change. In addition to making a unique contribution to Pacific island ethnography, the authors of this volume speak to a global set of issues of immense importance to a world in which water scarcity, conflict, pollution and the degradation of riparian environments afflict growing numbers of people.
