C'est l'espace d' illusion (D.W. Winnicott), entre réalité et fantasme qui est le garant de l'accès au jeu. Sans lui, le jeu demeure inaccessible à l' enfant. Au cours de l' enfance le jeu se développe : d'un simple exercice musculaire il devient peu à peu recherche de plaisir, apprentissage de la vie adulte, ouverture à l' autre. Les jeux de construction se mettent alors en place, ce sont des jeux support de l'imaginaire par la manipulation des objets, permettant la reproduction des affects. Les jeux de construction développent les capacités de créativité et d' imagination de l' enfant. Toute la vie psychomotrice de l' enfant est reprise dans les jeux de construction : corps, motricité fine, régulation tonique, coordination oculo-manuelle, espace, temps, apprentissage de règles, socialisation. Pourtant, ces jeux en apparence si naturels, rencontrent parfois des barrières et s'en trouvent alors affectés. L' observation pratique nous permet d' appréhender concrètement diverses situations pathologiques et de resituer les jeux de construction dans le champs de la thérapie psychomotrice. Ces jeux s' avèrent révélateurs d'un fonctionnement pathologique, mais aussi de l' évolution psychomotrice de l' enfant.
