This book was released on 2019-02-07 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Je t'aime Je t'adore, is French for, I love you I adore you. Love lost and found, it lust that was mistaken for love. Je t'aime Je t'adore is a love story that breaks your heart because of the characters failure to put pride aside and work to fix what was broken. The book begins with the two main characters focusing so much on hurting the other although they were in love just couldn't say it anymore, fearing that it would make them look weak, or just because they were scared that the other really didn't love them. There are some aspects of the storyline that reflects on what happens in the real world, with real lovers. The book goes on to show how weak the main character really is when it comes to being hurt. The words in the book highlight a sort of self-abuse as well as mental abuse, on oneself and on each other. Je t'aime Je t'adore has so much meaning, so many emotions; the author herself structured the content of the book on her struggles with love. Her own fear concerning love is embedded into the pages. The book is ended with an understanding of 'love is where you are, love is home.' And only in the end, it is highlighted that while love was being searched for it was only left behind in the first place.

Book Synopsis Georges Bizet's Carmen by : Nelly Furman
Download or read book Georges Bizet's Carmen written by Nelly Furman and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2020-01-22 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The popularity of Carmen endures across generations and continents, with one of the most frequently performed and instantly recognizable operatic scores of all time and a libretto derived from Prosper Mérimée's novella of the same name, written 30 years prior to the opera's 1875 debut. In Georges Bizet's Carmen--the latest volume in the Oxford Keynotes series--author Nelly Furman explores the evolution of Carmen's story and its meaning, illuminating how the titular heroine has maintained her status as a universally recognizable cultural icon. Grounded in Ludovic Halévy's and Henri Meilhac's libretto--and drawing on a wealth of mostly French critical theory--this book traces the textual, operatic, and cinematic tellings and retellings of the story, from its success as a novella in the industrial age through to its iconic position in our own cinematic era. As Furman delicately navigates the fraught terrain of racial and gendered discourse and ideology that Bizet's setting of Mérimée's work traverses, she uncovers the elements of the story that give it cultural salience and resonance, both in its own right and in support of Bizet's acclaimed musical score. In doing so, Furman reveals how past and present renderings of the Carmen tale mirror the changing concerns and shifting values of individual authors and their societies--and how each new rendering has helped to embed Carmen into the global conscience.

Book Synopsis Eleanor Roosevelt by : Keri F. Dearborn
Download or read book Eleanor Roosevelt written by Keri F. Dearborn and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2022-06-30 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Eleanor Roosevelt was an American influencer. Using her own words, personal documents, past perspectives, and new biographical research, this book introduces young adult readers to Roosevelt not only within her own historical context, but connected to contemporary issues. Using Eleanor Roosevelt's own words, personal correspondences, private documents, and a wide range of past perspectives and new biographical research, this book tells the intimate story of a real woman who struggled with a lack of self confidence but built a supportive network of like-minded activist women to realize change. One hundred years ago, Roosevelt was drawn into politics and public service by events that seem ripped from current events—an opiate crisis, a global pandemic, unsafe working conditions for immigrant women, and the human costs of war. Roosevelt's story mirrors the challenges of the 21st century and offers real examples of how change is possible. For students of history, politics, and women's studies, this book brings together past perspectives with new biographical scholarship, primary resources, and Roosevelt's own words to understand the female role models who shaped her and how Roosevelt in turn built a women's network of friends and activists that changed U.S. politics and society.

Book excerpt: Ben Rosewood never meant to be bound to a vampire succubus, especially one as sexy-yet-terrifying as Eleonore Bettencourt-Devereux, but he has to admit there are some fang-tastic perks…. Werewolf Ben Rosewood is happy with his life. One hundred percent. Everything is fine. His business, Ben’s Plant Emporium, is thriving, and he’s even expanding the shop. His anxiety disorder is…well, it’s been better, but that comes with the territory of running a business and having beastly urges every full moon, right? As for romance—who has the time? Though his family is desperate to see him settled, Ben is fine approaching forty as a single werewolf. But after drunkenly bidding on and winning a supposedly-possessed crystal on eBay one night, he finds himself face-to-face with a beautiful yet angry vampire. Eleonore Bettencourt-Devereux is a rare breed—a vampire succubus born from two elite European bloodlines during medieval times. Thanks to an evil witch, she’s been stuck in a crystal since she was thirty, forced to obey orders from the possessor of the rock. Eleonore's been dreaming of breaking the spell and severing the witch’s head for centuries. But did this witch really sell her to someone new, and for only ninety-nine cents? Eleonore would claw this werewolf’s heart out and eat it, if only the binding spell would allow her to. But Eleonore and Ben soon realize they can help each other with both vengeful and less hostile needs. And why not have a little fun along the way?
