Book excerpt: Islam and the Glorious Ka'abah presents a unique guide that provides the background information about Islam since the time of Prophet Ibrahim (peace upon him). It begins at the time when he came to Makkah and left his wife, Hajar, and his baby son, Ismael. Years later he journeys back to Makkah to meet his son who by then had grown to be a young man, and built with him the Ka'aba, which became the center point for the Muslims around the world, and it provides the direction for their prayers and worshipping Allah in a unified way. Author Sayed / Farouq M. Al-Husseini offers a wide range of information about the religion of Islam, its teachings and fundamental beliefs, and the worshipping acts of its believers. He explains the holy book of Islam, the Qur'an, explaining how its revelations began and what it contains. Additionally, the text includes a summary of the life of the prophet of Islam, Mohammad (peace be upon him), from his birth and early years through his receiving of the revelations and, ultimately, his prophethood. It also covers his propagation of Islam in Makkah and migration to Al Madinah, where the cradle of Islam was established. Most importantly, this guide explores his personality, his sayings, and his deeds, which have been changing the world for fourteen centuries.

Book Synopsis Islam by : Sri G. Ananda

Download or read book Islam written by Sri G. Ananda and published by . This book was released on 2015-02-21 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Basics of IslamSeeing that the subject of Islam is complex and controversial, Sri G. Ananda has made great efforts to edit and revise many years worth of writings on Islam, to be most sensitive to the deeply held beliefs of all faiths, seeing how Islam is perceived in a 360 degree angle, across a wide spectrum--of Jews, Christians, Hindus and Buddhists. In Islam: A Guide for India and the West, many essential subjects are explained. While many Christians are afraid to see God in the name Allah, you will see how this word is actually more biblical than the word God, as it is found in Hebrew as well as in Arabic, in the same way that Shalom in Hebrew becomes Salaam in Arabic. In this way, many of the beliefs, or Five Pillars, of Islam are very much Jewish in nature, keeping to the same spirit found in the Jewish Bible. For this reason, this book looks at the parallels of history, from Creation to the Flood of Noah, and from the Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to the Exodus of Moses, to show that the Qur'an is actually a paraphrase of the Bible, containing all essential stories, and some are told in even more detail. In this book, you will see supernatural evidence, of how the Qur'an was divinely inspired, and you will also see a heart of conviction for truth, but of compassion for those who do not share Sri G. Ananda's personal beliefs, so that a message of peace and empathy is at the heart of all interfatih dialogue, even if it is with Muslims or about Islamic belief, for peace is the purpose of life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is a comprehensive repertoire on the religion of Islam written in a simple language for people of other faiths curious to develop general grasp of this fastest growing and controversial religion. To understand Islam, one must know the importance of its two main pillars, Muhammad, its originator and Quran, the Allah's revelations to mankind, so they have received at length treatment. Details on the life of Muhammad as a person and controversies surrounding his harem, and as a prophet with his teachings and conquests are provided. The main themes of Quran including the importance of Allah and Muhammad, the story of prior prophets, Muslim laws, the rituals and doctrines, divine predestination of human life, along with debates on the Satanic verses and abrogation of some earlier verses are deliberated. Hadith and Sharia, the basis for Muslim personal, social and legal rules are reviewed. The topic of Jihad because of its current wide attention is analyzed in detail. The Quranic injunction making 'Jihad with Sword' a compulsory duty for all able-bodied Muslims, the material rewards for those engaging in Jihad in this life and the comfort and luxury including a horde of heavenly women in afterlife, historical accounts of Jihads, the rules of Jihad, and the basis for the separation of nations into the Abode of Islam, Abode of War and Abode of Peace are explained. Lures of heaven for Muslims and torment of hell for Non-Muslims are vividly described in the Quran and the sayings of Muhammad. This book does likewise. Place of women in Islamic societies is very contentious topic of discussion. Muslim laws on inheritance, punishment for adultery, weight as witness, and social customs especially veil, confinement within the house, employment, and birth control are covered to give Islamic point of view and outside assessment. In the chapter on marriage and divorce, narration centers on the institution of marriage, responsibilities of husband and wife in a marriage, temporary marriage, and different types of divorces with the particular attention to the controversial "triple talaq" where a husband can irrevocably divorce his wife by verbally announcing his intention three times. Islamic perception on moral issues such as homosexuality, nudity, alcohol and gambling, narcotics, and adoption constitute part of a separate chapter. Since Islam is the only institution of high importance which has not yet formally denounced slavery and guidelines for slave men and slave women and concubines remain part of the Quran and sayings of Muhamad, a chapter is also devoted to this topic. At the end of the book, the philosophy, messages, doctrines, and rituals of Islam are summarized. Most of the materials for the book have been sourced from the Quran, sayings of Muhammad, and the writings of imminent Islamic scholars but a small portion also procured from outside avenues. Essentially, the book provides all the information to quench the curiosity of a layperson regarding Islam.
