Download or read book The Regulatory Approach to Air Quality Management written by Winston Harrington and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-03-17 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the wake of the Clean Air Amendments of 1970 in the United States, sources of emissions could be held accountable for the degradation of air quality in the local environment. This case study of air quality management in New Mexico was produced to shed some light on the procedures and activities used by agencies in order to control air quality. Originally published in 1981, Winston Harrington uses New Mexico as a case study for its largely centralised control system in Santa Fe to explore the behaviour of air quality agencies and pollution sources and comments on policy implications from this study’s conclusions. This title will be of interest to students of environmental studies and policy makers.

Book Synopsis Use of Electrostatically Charged Fog for Control of Fugitive Dust Emissions by : Stuart A. Hoenig
Download or read book Use of Electrostatically Charged Fog for Control of Fugitive Dust Emissions written by Stuart A. Hoenig and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We have demonstrated that most industrial pollutants acquire an electrostatic charge as they are dispersed into the air. If this charged, airborne material, is exposed to an oppositely charged water fog there is enhanced contact between the particulates and the fog droplets. After contact is made the wetted particulates agglomerate rapidly and fall out of the atmosphere. This technique has been tested on a wide variety of industrial pollutants ranging from silica flour to sulfur dioxide and fly ash. In general, there has been significant suppression with a minimum of water fog. The system is therefore suited to control of moving or fugitive dust sources where the usual duct and baghouse systems are too costly or ineffective.
