This book was released on 2022-10-11 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aerodynamic Heating in Supersonic and Hypersonic Flows: Advanced Techniques for Drag and Aero-heating Reduction explores the pros and cons of different heat reduction techniques on other characteristics of hypersonic vehicles. The book begins with an introduction of flow feature around the forebody of space vehicles and explains the main parameters on drag force and heat production in this region. The text then discusses the impact of severe heat production on the nose of hypervelocity vehicles, different reduction techniques for aerodynamic heating, and current practical applications for forebody shock control devices. Delivers valuable insight for aerospace engineers, postgraduate students, and researchers. Presents computational results of different cooling systems for drag and heat reduction around nose cones Explains mechanisms of drag reduction via mechanical, fluidic, and thermal systems Provides comprehensive details about the aerodynamics of space vehicles and the different shock features in the forebody of super/hypersonic vehicles Describes how numerical simulations are used for the development of the current design of forebody of super/hypersonic vehicles

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 770 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last decade, rapid growth of knowledge in the field of jet, rocket, nuclear, ion and electric propulsion has resulted in many advances useful to the student, engineer and scientist. The purpose for offering this course is to make available to them these recent advances in theory and design. Accordingly, this course is organized into seven parts: Part 1 Introduction; Part 2 Jet Propulsion; Part 3 Rocket Propulsion; Part 4 Nuclear Propulsion; Part 5 Electric and Ion Propulsion; Part 6 Theory on Combustion, Detonation and Fluid Injection; Part 7 Advanced Concepts and Mission Applications. It is written in such a way that it may easily be adopted by other universities as a textbook for a one semester senior or graduate course on the subject. In addition to the undersigned who served as the course instructor and wrote Chapter I, 2 and 3, guest lecturers included: DR. G. L. DUGGER who wrote Chapter 4 "Ram-jets and Air-Aug mented Rockets," DR. GEORGE P. SUTTON who wrote Chapter 5 "Rockets and Cooling Methods," DR . . MARTIN SUMMERFIELD who wrote Chapter 6 "Solid Propellant Rockets," DR. HOWARD S. SEIFERT who wrote Chapter 7 "Hybrid Rockets," DR. CHANDLER C. Ross who wrote Chapter 8 "Advanced Nuclear Rocket Design," MR. GEORGE H. McLAFFERTY who wrote Chapter 9 "Gaseous Nuclear Rockets," DR. S. G. Book Synopsis Aerodynamic Characteristics of Towed Cones Used as Decelerators at Mach Numbers from 1.57 to 4.65 by : Nickolai Charczenko

This book was released on 1962 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Towed and sting-supported cones were tested in the wake of various payloads at supersonic speeds to determine their drag and stability characteristics. The investigation extended over a Mach number range from 1.57 to 4.65 and included such variables as Reynolds number, cone angle, ratio of cone base diameter to payload base diameter, and trailing distance. Cones towed in the wake of a symmetrical payload at supersonic speeds, in general, had good drag and stability characteristics if towed in the supersonic flow region. A cone with an included angle between 80 and 90 degrees gave 2 maximum drag while still maintaining stability. In order to minimize wake effects, the ratio of cone base diameter to payload base diameter should be at least one and preferably around three. A trailing distance of three times the payload base diameter, in most cases, is of sufficient length to avoid low drag and instability of the decelerator. (Author).

Download or read book Fluid Dynamics Transactions written by W. Fiszdon and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 655 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fluid Dynamics Transactions, Volume 2 compiles 46 papers on fluid dynamics, a subdiscipline of fluid mechanics that deals with fluid flow. The topics discussed in this book include developments in interference theory for aeronautical applications; diffusion from sources in a turbulent boundary layer; unsteady motion of a finite wing span in a compressible medium; and wall pressure covariance and comparison with experiment. The certain classes of non-stationary axially symmetric flows in magneto–gas–dynamics; description of the phenomenon of secondary flows in curved channels by means of convection of rotation lines; and some variational problems of gas dynamics are also deliberated in this text. This publication is a good reference for physicists and students researching on the natural science of fluids in motion.
