Book excerpt: Adoption of new technologies in logistics and supply chain processes is crucial for the continued effectiveness of supply chains. Technology has the potential to address the issue of logistics and supply chain visibility throughout the supply chain, from raw materials through manufacturers and end users. When properly implemented, improved forecasting of inventory levels, employee productivity, adequate accountability, and higher warehouse savings are all possible. Additionally, businesses must upskill their supply chain workers and recruit and manage digital talent in cross-functional teams. The Handbook of Research on Promoting Logistics and Supply Chain Resilience Through Digital Transformation discusses the ways in which global logistics and supply chains have been severely disrupted by digital technology transformation. The book helps policymakers in designing a resilient framework that can absorb external shocks like the COVID-19 pandemic and also enhances the performance and operational capability of the logistics and supply chain network. Covering topics such as oil and gas maintenance support, stakeholder management, and business optimization strategy, this major reference work is essential for logistics professionals, business leaders and executives, IT managers, government officials, manufacturers, students and faculty of higher education, librarians, researchers, and academicians.
Book Synopsis Supply Chain Social Sustainability for Manufacturing by : V. Mani
Download or read book Supply Chain Social Sustainability for Manufacturing written by V. Mani and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-26 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights a number of social sustainability issues at different stages of the supply chain, and demonstrates how these issues can be addressed by adopting social sustainability practices in the manufacturing supply chain. In the wake of emerging social issues in developing countries, research on social sustainability has gained importance for academics and practitioners alike. The three distinguishable social sustainability dimensions in manufacturing that emerge as a result of this research provide insights for supply chain managers and practitioners who might otherwise be unaware of what constitutes social sustainability. A better understanding allows supply chain managers to address these issues more appropriately to increase their supply chain competitiveness in the market. The book presents a social sustainability scale that can be used by practitioners to measure supply chain social sustainability to benchmark their supply chains globally. The research also helps academicians to gain an understanding of the social issues related to the manufacturing supply chain, while the social measures developed serve as reference material for policy-makers and sustainability experts in emerging economies.
Book Synopsis Supply Chain Performance Measurement Framework by : Asawin Pasutham
Download or read book Supply Chain Performance Measurement Framework written by Asawin Pasutham and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the most significant paradigm shifts of modern business management is that individual businesses no longer compete as solely autonomous entities, but rather as supply chains. Firms worldwide have embraced the concept of supply chain management as important and sometimes critical to their business. The idea of a collaborative supply chain is to gain a competitive advantage by improving overall performance through measuring a holistic perspective of the supply chain. However, contemporary performance measurement theory is somewhat fragmented and fails to support this idea. Therefore, this research develops and applies an integrated supply chain performance measurement framework that provides a more holistic approach to the study of supply chain performance measurement by combining both supply chain macro processes and decision making levels. Therefore, the proposed framework can provide a balanced horizontal (cross-process) and vertical (hierarchical decision) view and measure the performance of the entire supply chain system. Firstly, literature on performance measurement frameworks and performance measurement factors of supply chain management will help to develop a conceptual framework. Next the proposed framework will be presented. The framework will be validated through in-depth interviews with three Thai manufacturing companies. The fieldwork combined varied sources in order to understand the views of manufacturers on supply chain performance in the three case study companies. The collected data were analyzed, interpreted, and reported using thematic analysis and analysis hierarchy process (AHP), which was influenced by the study's conceptual framework. This research contributes a new theory of supply chain performance measurement and knowledge on supply chain characteristics of a developing country, Thailand. The research also affects organisations by preparing decision makers to make strategic, tactical and operational level decisions with respect to supply chain macro processes. The results from the case studies also indicate the similarities and differences in their supply chain performance. Furthermore, the implications of the study are offered for both academic and practical use.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Special Issue is dedicated to the investigation and optimization of supply chain management in the context of sustainable development. In order to meet the needs of social development, enterprises are gradually innovating their supply chains to achieve sustainable development. Sustainable supply chain management can improve the competitiveness of enterprises; promote the sustainable development of enterprises; and realize the coordinated development of society, the economy, and the environment. However, the current development of sustainable supply chain management is not perfect. Therefore, scholars have become more and more interested in investigating supply chain management optimization. Supply chain management problems usually include product production and pricing, transportation location, upstream and downstream supply, and marketing problems. Existing research usually selects some of these problems and combines optimization methods, such as data-driven robust optimization methods, to optimize the status quo. Finally, an optimized scheme can be obtained, and some constructive suggestions are put forward to achieve sustainable and optimized development of supply chain management.

It develops models, frameworks, and theoretical concepts related to supply chain resilience to enhance efficiency and improve visibility of supply chains. Covering topics such as change management, production relocation, and supply chain risk, this book is an essential reference for business leaders, corporate executives, industry practitioners, researchers, academicians, educators, and students.
Book Synopsis Supply Chain Resilience by : Venkatachalam Anbumozhi
Download or read book Supply Chain Resilience written by Venkatachalam Anbumozhi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2021-05-23 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book investigates individual companies’ and industries’ supply chain risk management approaches to identify risk drivers and verify effective risk-reduction measures and business continuity plans. Typically, supply chain risk assessments focus on normative guidelines based on single best practice examples or vulnerability events, and there has been little work exploring how the concepts of supply chain risk management and resilience are related. However, since this relationship has implications for developing integrated response strategies, a clear understanding of the possible consequences is a fundamental step in building socio-economic resilience along the supply chain. Against this background, the book addresses three main topics: firstly, it defines the conceptual and sectoral domains of supply chain risk management and resilience by examining the welfare effects of extreme weather events and other economic shocks on selected global supply chains. It then presents an in-depth analysis of the scope of public–private partnerships to tackle the risks, by empirically exploring supply chain risk effects and information management. Thirdly, it proposes a regional cooperation framework in the context of major supply chain vulnerability events such as disasters and global financial crises.
Book Synopsis (Sustainable) Supply Chain Management at the Base of the Pyramid by : Raja Usman Khalid
Download or read book (Sustainable) Supply Chain Management at the Base of the Pyramid written by Raja Usman Khalid and published by kassel university press GmbH. This book was released on 2018-01-01 with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Base-of-the-pyramid (BoP) research talks about market based solutions for the development of marginalized sections of informal market economies. However, absence of sound theoretical foundations is obstructing development of the discourse. Relatively mature, (sustainable) supply chain management ((S)SCM) literature has many analogous concepts to the BoP research. The integration of the two research streams can not only provide BoP with the much needed theoretical infrastructure, but can also open new research frontiers for the (S)SCM research. The extent dissertation is an effort to integrate the BoP and (S)SCM research. The results of the systematic literature review highlight the theoretical commonalities among the two research streams and led to development of certain frameworks based upon the results of contingency analysis. The empirical part of the dissertation tries to explore the (S)SCM practices significantly affecting the purchasing performance of indigenous BoP firms in a B2B context. Argumentation of the resource dependency theory is employed to get deeper insights into the empirical results of the study.

This book was released on 2020-07-17 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses supply chain issues and models with examples from actual case studies. Recent advances in sustainability, supply chains and technologies have brought promising potential for the management of sustainable global and local supply chains. While most of the current literature seem to consider developments in the field of sustainable supply chains and in the field of Industry 4.0 as two distinct entities, this book attempts to explore the synergy in bringing these two distinct fields together. The book features chapters on management of sustainability and industry 4.0 on supply chains as a whole, with several case studies on issues related to the application of sustainable supply chains in specific application sectors. They employ mathematical modeling and statistical analyses, as well as descriptive qualitative studies. They cover a range of application areas including multiple sectors (restaurant, manufacturing, logistics, furniture, food and insurance), domains (supply chains, logistics, marketing, and reverse logistics) and multiple country contexts (UK and India). The potential links between sustainability and the recent technological innovations from Industry 4.0 have been explored in detail. The book offers a valuable tool for managerial decision-making on the current practice and future potential on the use of Industry 4.0 tools for sustainable supply chains to facilitate competitive advantage with case studies in various industry sectors. In addition, some intriguing mathematical models will appeal to students and researchers interested in modeling the logistics process and the application of evolutionary game theory for integrating the social and economic aspects of sustainable supply chains. Some of these supply chain issues have been addressed in a previous book by the Editors.
