Book Synopsis Concrete Materials by : Sandor Popovics
Download or read book Concrete Materials written by Sandor Popovics and published by William Andrew. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 674 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents an in-depth approach to concrete ingredients and their relationships to concrete by discussing their properties, pertinent test methods, specifications, proper use and selection, and solutions to problems in practice. The approach is practice oriented, and the book assists in the improved application of concrete through a thorough understanding of its ingredients. This is aided by the discussion of certain fundamental aspects and relationships in quantitative forms, and by also presenting the interpretation of research and experience. An extensive bibliography is included. The book is a current, organized summary of knowledge concerning concrete-making materials, which will enable the engineer/user to make the best possible product using these materials.
Book Synopsis Design Loads for Inserts Embedded in Concrete by : Thomas W. Reichard
Download or read book Design Loads for Inserts Embedded in Concrete written by Thomas W. Reichard and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Detailed test procedures are presented for a research program on cast-in-place inserts embedded in reinforced concrete. Three types of inserts, two of malleable iron and one of ductile steel, capable of receiving a 3/4 inch threaded rod were tested. It was found that the pull-out load for an insert could be approximated by a linear function of the concrete unit weight and square root of the compressive strength in a statically loaded reinforced concrete slab. Design recommendations are presented.

Book Synopsis Structural Evaluation of Steel Faced Sandwich Panels by : J. H. Pielert
Download or read book Structural Evaluation of Steel Faced Sandwich Panels written by J. H. Pielert and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A series of structural evaluation tests performed on components and materials intended for use in one of the Operation BREAKTHROUGH housing systems is described. Four samples of steel faced, paper honeycomb, sandwich panel material and four full size prototype roof panels were evaluated. The samples of sandwich panel material were used to evaluate the variability of panel material properties and the effect of aging on tensile and shear strength. The roof panels were used to determine the behavior in service considering the effects of adverse environmental conditions on ultimate strength and mode of failure. In addition, the performance of one panel under sustained loading was evaluated. (Author).
Book Synopsis Structural Deflections by : Theodore V. Galambos
Download or read book Structural Deflections written by Theodore V. Galambos and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A literature survey and state-of-the-art study was complied using 233 primary source documents, research papers, and texts. Over 800 documents were scanned to arrive at the primary source documents. The problem of structural deflections is discussed and reviewed in its component areas of static and dynamic deflections as related to forcing functions and structural characteristics. Also the interactions of major structural dflections with building structures subsystems and human occupants is reviewed. Emphasis is placed on serviceability limit states of deflections. Detailed comparisons of human response to structural vibrations are also made. The report is broad in scope and covers the areas of analysis, design and experimentation. (Author).
