Acute kidney injury receives extensive attention, including pre-renal, intra-renal, and post-renal injuries. The book also outlines the role of clinical pharmacy in chronic kidney disease and end stage renal failure. Additional chapters provide detailed information on the methods and pharmacokinetics of renal dialysis, and the epidemiology and management of drug-induced nephrotoxicity. The Advanced Clinical Pharmacy series provides a review of core pharmaceutical concepts, a foundation for optimizing pharmacotherapy, and an introduction to advanced clinical practice. The editors and contributors are international experts who distill the core knowledge of each specialty. The books offer real-world insights to benefit both new practitioners, and experienced pharmacists exploring new areas of clinical pharmacy

Book Synopsis Chronic Kidney Disease - Novel Insights into Pathophysiology and Treatment by : Giovanni Palleschi
Download or read book Chronic Kidney Disease - Novel Insights into Pathophysiology and Treatment written by Giovanni Palleschi and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2024-07-03 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In clinical practice, all physicians have to deal with patients suffering from chronic kidney disease. Large numbers of these patients suffer from mild conditions, but nevertheless, they deserve special attention because inappropriate management may accelerate kidney function deterioration. On the other side, patients affected by end-stage renal disease require replacement therapies and often represent a challenge for clinicians due to their complex pathophysiology. Therefore, an adequate knowledge of the most important clinical and therapeutic aspects of renal failure is an essential requirement for every doctor, especially if we consider the increasing incidence and prevalence of this condition. The book summarises the most important etiopathogenetic and pathophysiologic aspects of chronic kidney disease and focuses the attention on important emerging topics: nutritional and dietary management, renoprotective interventions, new evidence about pathophysiological mechanisms provided by base research, innovations in pharmacological treatment, and strategies to improve patient’s quality of life. Data are reported in clear and concise language, supported by graphics, tables, and pictures that facilitate the comprehension of all the arguments.

Book Synopsis Experimental and computational aspects of bioactive proteins from animal venoms: An insight into pharmacological properties and drug discovery by : Michelle Yap
Download or read book Experimental and computational aspects of bioactive proteins from animal venoms: An insight into pharmacological properties and drug discovery written by Michelle Yap and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-02-23 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Animal venoms are complex mixtures of bioactive peptides and proteins with diverse pharmacological effects. These active molecules make up the components of venom toxins responsible for many pathological outcomes in snake envenomation. Although venom toxins can be deadly, they can potentially be lifesaving once their respective pharmacological targets and mechanistic actions are better understood. For example, the discovery of captopril from Brazilian viper, Bothrops jararaca venom which has been shown to antagonise angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) for the treatment of hypertension.

Download or read book Network Pharmacology written by Shao Li and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-09-29 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces “network pharmacology” as an emerging frontier subject of systematic drug research in the era of artificial intelligence and big data. Network Pharmacology is an original subject of fusion system biology, bioinformatics, network science and other related disciplines. It emphasizes on starting from the overall perspective of the system level and biological networks, the analysis of the laws of molecular association between drugs and their treatment objects, reveals the systematic pharmacological mechanisms of drugs, and guides the research and development of new drugs and clinical diagnosis and treatment. After it was proposed, network pharmacology has been paid attention by researchers, and it has been rapidly developed and widely used. In order to systematically reveal the biological basis of diagnosis and treatment in traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine, we proposed a new concept of "network target" for the first time, which has become the core theory of "network pharmacology". The core principle of a network target is to construct a biological network that can be used to decipher complex diseases. The network is then used as the therapeutic target, to which multicomponent remedies are applied. This book mainly includes four parts: 1) The concept and theory of network pharmacology; 2) Common analysis methods, databases and software in network pharmacological research; 3) Typical cases of traditional Chinese medicine modernization and modern drug research based on network pharmacology; 4) Network pharmacology practice process based on drugs and diseases.
