This book was released on 2009-06-29 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Innovation in product design starts with materials. Developing successful commercial products demands a sound understanding of the materials that go into those products—their uses, their costs, their lifetime performance. However, the valuable knowledge of materials engineers is often not fully leveraged in the creative phase of the product design cycle. Gessinger seeks to bridge this gap that exists in many companies.Written from the bottom-up perspective of the engineer or scientist on a product design team, Materials and Innovative Product Design introduces business, economics and strategic product development to the materials specialist and demystifies materials selection for other members of the design team and manufacturing management. Using case studies from innovative organizations, such as ABB, and successful start-ups, such as NDC, Day4Energy, and Metoxit, Gessinger illustrates how the integration of different engineering and business disciplines can power innovation in the design process. By addressing the real world needs of innovators, this book allows the reader to unlock the potential of the new material types that have been changing the face of product design and deploy an integrated business approach to materials selection and the design process. - Allows engineers to develop a fuller understanding of economics and business objectives in order to contribute more effectively to innovative product design - Introduces the business opportunities and practical challenges of deploying new material types to design and manufacturing management - Illustrates how to harness the power of R&D within the design cycle through case studies of innovative and successful organizations that have brought new materials technologies to known markets and known materials to new markets

Book excerpt: Innovation is of critical value in the modern global economy, as it performs several important economic functions. The first is related to supporting the sustainability of socio-economic systems, preventing the emergence of crises and, if they do occur, providing solutions to overcome their consequences. Secondly, innovation allows for the activation of economic growth and social progress through the rationalization of economic activities. Thirdly, innovation supports the global competitiveness of economic systems, allowing for the specialization of production and sales of unique goods that are in high demand in both domestic and global markets. At the same time, innovational development in economic systems is required to mitigate the high levels of risk and requires both effective management and a reliable normative and legal foundation. This book studies the economic and legal foundations of managing the innovational development of economic systems from an interdisciplinary perspective, bringing together the thoughts of international scholars in management, economics and law.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Developing countries need additional, cross-border capital channeled into their private sectors to generate employment and growth, reduce poverty, and meet the other Millennium Development Goals. Innovative financing mechanisms are necessary to make this happen. 'Innovative Financing for Development' is the first book on this subject that uses a market-based approach. It compiles pioneering methods of raising development finance including securitization of future flow receivables, diaspora bonds, and GDP-indexed bonds. It also highlights the role of shadow sovereign ratings in facilitating access to international capital markets. It argues that poor countries, especially those in Sub-Saharan Africa, can potentially raise tens of billions of dollars annually through these instruments. The chapters in the book focus on the structures of the various innovative financing mechanisms, their track records and potential for tapping international capital markets, the constraints limiting their use, and policy measures that governments and international institutions can implement to alleviate these constraints.

The first section focuses on water systems, including rivers and seacoasts, and on new growing methods for more sustainable agriculture. The second section addresses energy and wastewater. The country’s rapid growth is a major challenge in terms of reinforcing the electrical infrastructures, and as such this section offers an overview of the government’s planned measures and their impact on the Vietnamese power system. The third section highlights cities and utilities in the context of increasing urbanization, exploring the urban morphology of the Vietnamese metropolis, particularly Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

This book was released on 2023-07-31 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The formation and development of market relations in the Ukrainian economy necessitate the improvement of the management mechanism of agricultural enterprises, the orientation of the management system to market conditions, and the ability to respond quickly and flexibly to changes in the environment and within the enterprise. Currently, only a small proportion of enterprises use marketing management methods in their business operations, and only a few of them use a systematic approach to organizing management based on marketing. Military actions on the territory of our country have had a great impact on this course of events and the development of enterprises at the present time. Marketing management of an enterprise is an opportunity to organize its activities on the principles of optimal use of the available potential and obtaining the greatest profit, taking into account the satisfaction of consumer needs. An analysis of the company's capabilities allows to obtain reliable information on the state of assets and liabilities of production, to analyze the external marketing environment. A systematic approach to organizing management and developing a marketing strategy is a scientifically sound way to increase profitability, save costs and improve the company's market position. An integral part of the company's marketing management system is to ensure proportionality of development, support and preservation of social guarantees for employees. However, after the Russian Federation started military operations on the territory of Ukraine, agricultural enterprises experienced major problems in production, sales, and procurement of inputs. The big problems caused by the war are clearly visible in logistics processes - losses in trade relations by sea, suspended river traffic, heavy load on border crossing points on railways and highways, lack of air traffic. Due to the constant bombardment by the Russian aggressor, a large number of critical infrastructure facilities have been damaged, forcing our companies to significantly increase the cost of processing agricultural products and thus stay afloat without stopping their operations. A large number of companies from the east and south were forced to move to the western and central parts of the country to resume their operations. However, given that in Ukraine marketing management of agricultural enterprises is a separate, very large and problematic aspect, the theoretical and methodological framework is not sufficiently covered, there are problematic issues, and the strategy for the transition of enterprises from outdated forms and methods of management and business to new, scientifically based market methods, such as marketing management, has not been developed. This will allow our enterprises to develop and meet the needs of consumers and at the same time ensure the country's food security in this difficult military period for Ukraine. The results of the research presented in this monograph are determined within the framework of the initiative topic of the Department of Marketing and International Trade of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine "Development of Marketing at Agricultural and Processing Enterprises", state registration number 0120U100630.
