Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Once before God called out a people to be His special people and a priestly nation before the world. Now again God has called out people to be His and walk before Him as an example to all peoples, calling the people of the world to Him. Now as then He is ingathering us from the far country to which we had wandered and setting us on our betrothal journey home. We can discern much from the first such journey of ingathering that can assist and encourage us as we set out on our own journey of ingathering. This is one persons look at what God has told us about our Tabernacles and what to expect and watch for along the way. It is a walk through Gods Word, searching to see the intent and symbolism contained in the Tabernacle/Temple structure, decorations and rituals with an eye to how these thing might apply to us today. For we have been told that our bodies are now the temple or tabernacle of the Holy Spirit and God has told us previously His specifications for maintaining this space properly so that when we go to Him, He can be found. This book looks at what was lost when man was banished at the beginning; as this is what will be restored at the end times. From there a look was taken at what was elaborated in His Word about Gods purpose, requirements and expectations via the Covenants, Prophets and Law. The last section concentrates on the Tabernacle, its specifications, attendants and Feast Day. For today each of us is now serving as priest before the presence of the Holy Spirit within us.

Book excerpt: The chronology of the Bible continues to be a popular and much debated subject to both scholars and students of Scripture. Over the years many have offered a chronology of events in an unsuccessful attempt to accurately predict when their particular brand of divine intervention would occur. These failed predictions have led many denominations to preach that an accurate prediction is not even possible; however, I disagree. By administering the sabbatical and jubilee year system into the chronology of Scripture, a pattern of numbers are revealed, that can be utilized to accurately forecast the commencement of what I refer as the 'Great One-Thousand Year Day of Ingathering'.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A primary source analysis of the migration of Jews from Argentina to Israel. Between Exile and Exodus: Argentinian Jewish Immigration to Israel, 1948–1967 examines the case of the 16,500 Argentine Jewish immigrants who arrived in Israel during the first two decades of its existence (1948–1967). Based on a thorough investigation of various archives in Argentina and Israel, author Sebastian Klor presents a sociohistoric analysis of that immigration with a comparative perspective. Although many studies have explored Jewish immigration to the State of Israel, few have dealt with the immigrants themselves. Between Exile and Exodusoffers fascinating insights into this migration, its social and economic profiles, and the motivation for the relocation of many of these people. It contributes to different areas of study— Argentina and its Jews, Jewish immigration to Israel, and immigration in general. This book's integration of a computerized database comprising the personal data of more than 10,000 Argentinian Jewish immigrants has allowed the author to uncover their stories in a direct, intimate manner. Because immigration is an individual experience, rather than a collective one, the author aims to address the individual's perspective in order to fully comprehend the process. In the area of Argentinian Jewry it brings a new approach to the study of Zionism and the relations of the community with Israel, pointing out the importance of family as a basis for mutual interactions. Klor's work clarifies the centrality of marginal groups in the case of Jewish immigration to Israel, and demystifies the idea that Aliya from Argentina was solely ideological. In the area of Israeli studies the book takes a critical view of the "catastrophic" concept as a cause for Jewish immigration to Israel, analyzing the gap between the decision-makers in Israel and in Argentina and the real circumstances of the individual immigrants. It also contributes to migration studies, showing how an atypical case, such as the Argentine Jewish immigrants to Israel, is shaped by similar patterns that characterize "classical" mass migrations, such as the impact of chain migrations and the immigration of marginal groups. This book's importance—its contribution to the historical investigation of the immigration phenomenon in general, and specifically immigration to the State of Israel—lies in uncovering and examining individual viewpoints alongside the official, bureaucratic immigration narrative.Scholars in various fields and disciplines, including history, Latin American studies, and migration studies, will find the methodology utilized in this monograph original and illuminating.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The essays presented here intend to open afresh the complexity of the question of Paul’s dependence upon and continuity with Jesus. So much attention has been given in the past to this very difficult problem that new solutions are hard to find and suspect when offered. This collection, however, demonstrates diversity in approach, stance, and conclusion. The essays often take issue with the results of current research—including that of Francis Wright Beare, in whose honour they have been produced. They consider a broad range of the recent literature and show that no satisfactory solution has yet been found to the Jesus-Paul quesiton. Indeed, the debate may never be terminated. This collection, however, thoroughly illustrates the debate as it stands now. Of consuming importance to scholars of New Testament theology and text, the volume also admirably depicts the critical approaches that live today within the study of Christianity’s roots.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do people link the past to the present, marking continuity in the face of the fundamental discontinuities of history? A Time to Gather argues that historical records took on potent value in modern Jewish life as both sources of history and anchors of memory because archives presented oneway of transmitting Jewish culture and history from one generation to another as well as making claims of access to an "authentic" Jewish culture. Indeed, both before the Holocaust and in its aftermath, Jewish leaders around the world felt a shared imperative to muster the forces and resources ofJewish life and culture. It was a "time to gather," a feverish era of collecting and conflict in which archive making was both a response to the ruptures of modernity and a mechanism for communities to express their cultural hegemony.Jason Lustig explores these themes across the arc of the twentieth century by excavating three distinctive archival traditions, that of the Cairo Genizah (and its transfer to Cambridge in the 1890s), folkloristic efforts like those of YIVO, and the Gesamtarchiv der deutschen Juden (Central or TotalArchive of the German Jews) formed in Berlin in 1905. Lustig presents archive-making as an organizing principle of twentieth-century Jewish culture, as a metaphor of great power and broad symbolic meaning with the dispersion and gathering of documents falling in the context of the Jews' longdiasporic history. In this light, creating archives was just as much about the future as it was about the past.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ezra and the Second Wilderness addresses the relationship between Ezra, the Ezra Memoir, and the Pentateuch. Tracing the growth of the Ezra Memoir and its incorporation into Ezra-Nehemiah, Philip Y. Yoo discusses the literary strategies utilized by some of the composers and redactors operating in the post-exilic period. After the strata in Ezra 7-10 and Nehemiah 8-10 are identified, what emerges as the base Ezra Memoir is a coherent account of Ezra's leadership of the exiles from Babylon over the course of a single year, one that is intricately modelled on the multiple presentations of Moses and the Israelite wilderness preserved in the Pentateuch. Through discussion of the detected influences, allusions, and omissions between the Pentateuch and the Ezra Memoir, Yoo shows that the Ezra Memoir demonstrates a close understanding of its source materials and received traditions as it constructs the Babylonian returnees as the inheritors of torah and, in turn, the true and unparalleled successors of the Israelite cult. This study presents the Ezra Memoir as a sophisticated example of 'biblical' interpretation in the Second Temple period. It also suggests that the Ezra Memoir has access to the Pentateuch in only its constituent parts. Acknowledging not only the antiquity but also efficacy of its prototypes, the Ezra Memoir employs a variety of hermeneutical strategies in order to harmonize the competing claims of its authoritative sources. In closing the temporal gap between these sources and its own contemporary time, the Ezra Memoir grants authority to the utopic past yet also projects its own vision for the proper worship of Israel's deity.

These events include the ingathering of exiled Israel by a bridegroom-king; his establishment of a kingdom, followed by his violent death; the scattering of Israel in the wilderness, and their subsequent regathering and further imperilment; their rescue by a king from the sky, who establishes his kingdom from Zion, brings peace and prosperity to the earth and receives the homage of the nations. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Before it was written there were a wide variety of views about the end of time held across different Jewish movements. Historically there have been four main methods of interpretation in both Judaism and Christianity, of which we see all on display in the New Testament. The controversy around interpretation of prophecy existed in the days of Jesus, led some to reject Christ, was not resolved by the Protestant Reformers, and still divides our churches today. This book looks at how we got here and proposes a way we should all move forward together. Using only the Scriptures, the sola scriptura approach challenges us to understand what the original audience of the letter from John would have understood. By identifying singularities and parallels within the book, built from years of research and verse-by-verse exegetical study, we will see how it is the fulfillment of the hopes and expectations of the Hebrew prophets and the early church.
