Book Synopsis Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic Modeling and Simulation by : Peter L. Bonate
Download or read book Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic Modeling and Simulation written by Peter L. Bonate and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-05-14 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A natural hierarchy exists in pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modeling culminating in population pharmacokinetic models, which are a specific type of nonlinear mixed effects model. The purpose of this book is to present through theory and example how to develop pharmacokinetic models, both at an individual and population level. In order to do so, however, one must first understand linear models and then build to nonlinear models followed by linear mixed effects models and then ultimately nonlinear mixed effects models. This book develops in that manner – each chapter builds upon previous chapters by first presenting the theory and then illustrating the theory using published data sets and actual data sets that were used in the development of new chemical entities collected by the author during his years in industry. A key feature of the book is the process of modeling. Most books and manuscripts often present the final model never showing how the model evolved. In this book all examples are presented in an evolutionary manner.
Book Synopsis Design of Experiments for Reliability Achievement by : Steven E. Rigdon
Download or read book Design of Experiments for Reliability Achievement written by Steven E. Rigdon and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2022-05-04 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ENABLES READERS TO UNDERSTAND THE METHODS OF EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN TO SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCT LIFE TESTING TO IMPROVE PRODUCT RELIABILITY This book illustrates how experimental design and life testing can be used to understand product reliability in order to enable reliability improvements. The book is divided into four sections. The first section focuses on statistical distributions and methods for modeling reliability data. The second section provides an overview of design of experiments including response surface methodology and optimal designs. The third section describes regression models for reliability analysis focused on lifetime data. This section provides the methods for how data collected in a designed experiment can be properly analyzed. The final section of the book pulls together all of the prior sections with customized experiments that are uniquely suited for reliability testing. Throughout the text, there is a focus on reliability applications and methods. It addresses both optimal and robust design with censored data. To aid in reader comprehension, examples and case studies are included throughout the text to illustrate the key factors in designing experiments and emphasize how experiments involving life testing are inherently different. The book provides numerous state-of-the-art exercises and solutions to help readers better understand the real-world applications of experimental design and reliability. The authors utilize R and JMP® software throughout as appropriate, and a supplemental website contains the related data sets. Written by internationally known experts in the fields of experimental design methodology and reliability data analysis, sample topics covered in the book include: An introduction to reliability, lifetime distributions, censoring, and inference for parameter of lifetime distributions Design of experiments, optimal design, and robust design Lifetime regression, parametric regression models, and the Cox Proportional Hazard Model Design strategies for reliability achievement Accelerated testing, models for acceleration, and design of experiments for accelerated testing The text features an accessible approach to reliability for readers with various levels of technical expertise. This book is a key reference for statistical researchers, reliability engineers, quality engineers, and professionals in applied statistics and engineering. It is a comprehensive textbook for upper-undergraduate and graduate-level courses in statistics and engineering.
Download or read book Biometrika written by D. M. Titterington and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The year 2001 marks the centenary of Biometrika, one of the world's leading academic journals in statistical theory and methodology. In celebration of this, the book brings together two sets of papers from the journal. The first are specially commissioned articles that review the history of the journal and the most important contributions made by papers in the journal to a number of important areas of statistical activity, including general theory and methodology, surveys and time sets. The second group are a selection of particularly seminal articles from the journal's first hundred years. In the process these papers give a full description of the general development of statistical science during the twentieth century.
Book Synopsis Advanced Analysis of Variance by : Chihiro Hirotsu
Download or read book Advanced Analysis of Variance written by Chihiro Hirotsu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-07-19 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introducing a revolutionary new model for the statistical analysis of experimental data In this important book, internationally acclaimed statistician, Chihiro Hirotsu, goes beyond classical analysis of variance (ANOVA) model to offer a unified theory and advanced techniques for the statistical analysis of experimental data. Dr. Hirotsu introduces the groundbreaking concept of advanced analysis of variance (AANOVA) and explains how the AANOVA approach exceeds the limitations of ANOVA methods to allow for global reasoning utilizing special methods of simultaneous inference leading to individual conclusions. Focusing on normal, binomial, and categorical data, Dr. Hirotsu explores ANOVA theory and practice and reviews current developments in the field. He then introduces three new advanced approaches, namely: testing for equivalence and non-inferiority; simultaneous testing for directional (monotonic or restricted) alternatives and change-point hypotheses; and analyses emerging from categorical data. Using real-world examples, he shows how these three recognizable families of problems have important applications in most practical activities involving experimental data in an array of research areas, including bioequivalence, clinical trials, industrial experiments, pharmaco-statistics, and quality control, to name just a few. • Written in an expository style which will encourage readers to explore applications for AANOVA techniques in their own research • Focuses on dealing with real data, providing real-world examples drawn from the fields of statistical quality control, clinical trials, and drug testing • Describes advanced methods developed and refined by the author over the course of his long career as research engineer and statistician • Introduces advanced technologies for AANOVA data analysis that build upon the basic ANOVA principles and practices Introducing a breakthrough approach to statistical analysis which overcomes the limitations of the ANOVA model, Advanced Analysis of Variance is an indispensable resource for researchers and practitioners working in fields within which the statistical analysis of experimental data is a crucial research component. Chihiro Hirotsu is a Senior Researcher at the Collaborative Research Center, Meisei University, and Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo. He is a fellow of the American Statistical Association, an elected member of the International Statistical Institute, and he has been awarded the Japan Statistical Society Prize (2005) and the Ouchi Prize (2006). His work has been published in Biometrika, Biometrics, and Computational Statistics & Data Analysis, among other premier research journals.

Book Synopsis Optimal Design of Experiments by : Friedrich Pukelsheim
Download or read book Optimal Design of Experiments written by Friedrich Pukelsheim and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2006-04-01 with total page 527 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optimal Design of Experiments offers a rare blend of linear algebra, convex analysis, and statistics. The optimal design for statistical experiments is first formulated as a concave matrix optimization problem. Using tools from convex analysis, the problem is solved generally for a wide class of optimality criteria such as D-, A-, or E-optimality. The book then offers a complementary approach that calls for the study of the symmetry properties of the design problem, exploiting such notions as matrix majorization and the Kiefer matrix ordering. The results are illustrated with optimal designs for polynomial fit models, Bayes designs, balanced incomplete block designs, exchangeable designs on the cube, rotatable designs on the sphere, and many other examples.
