Book excerpt: First Edition received 2012 First Place AJN Book of the Year Award in Nursing Research! “This is a resource for success and should be a part of any researcher's library." --Doody's Medical Reviews (Praise for the First Edition) Written for researchers, clinicians and doctoral students, the newly revised edition of this comprehensive reference continues to deliver the essentials of intervention research with added content on evidence-based quality improvement, a must for improving healthcare quality, safety and population health outcomes. Although typically it takes years for research-based interventions to make their way to real world clinical settings, this “prolonged time for translation” frustrates researchers and their interprofessional teams. This second edition now delves even deeper into key strategies for rapidly moving research-based interventions into real world settings in the form of evidence-based quality improvement as well as the challenges of working in an increasingly diverse professional research environment. Intervention Research and Evidence-Based Quality Improvement, Second Edition begins at the pilot study phase for intervention research and highlights every step of the way through to full-scale randomized controlled trials. Written in user-friendly format, content covers designing, conducting, analyzing, and funding intervention studies that improve healthcare quality and people’s health outcomes. Chapters cover writing grant applications and show examples of actual applications that have been funded by NIH and other organizations. These real-life samples are available online, alongside additional progress reports and final reports. Real-world examples of evidence-based quality improvement projects that have improved outcomes also are highlighted in this second edition. New to the Second Edition: Describes evidence-based quality improvement and specific steps in conducting EBQI projects, which are essential for enhancing healthcare quality, safety and costs along with enhancing population health outcomes. Emphasizes the importance of interprofessional teams Focuses on using research-based interventions in real-world settings Six new chapters o Generating Versus Using Evidence to Guide Best Practice o Setting the Stage for Intervention Research and Evidence-based Quality Improvement o Evidence-based Quality Improvement o Translational Research: Why and How o Factors Influencing Successful Uptake of Evidence-Based Interventions in Clinical Practice o Using Social Media to Enhance Uptake of Research-Based Interventions into Real World Clinical Settings Key Features: Provides a practical, comprehensive resource for designing, conducting, analyzing, and funding intervention studies Outlines the specific steps in designing, conducting and evaluating outcomes of evidence-based quality improvement projects Includes examples of funding research grants, progress reports, and final reports Serves as a core text for students in doctoral nursing and other health sciences programs

Book excerpt: The Manual of Tests and Criteria contains criteria, test methods and procedures to be used for classification of dangerous goods according to the provisions of Parts 2 and 3 of the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Model Regulations, as well as of chemicals presenting physical hazards according to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). As a consequence, it supplements also national or international regulations which are derived from the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods or the GHS. At its ninth session (7 December 2018), the Committee adopted a set of amendments to the sixth revised edition of the Manual as amended by Amendment 1. This seventh revised edition takes account of these amendments. In addition, noting that the work to facilitate the use of the Manual in the context of the GHS had been completed, the Committee considered that the reference to the "Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods" in the title of the Manual was no longer appropriate, and decided that from now on, the Manual should be entitled "Manual of Tests and Criteria".

Book excerpt: The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the Paris Climate Agreement are examples of initiatives where countries show recognition of their interconnected interests and goals. This is particularly evident in the case of global environmental issues because they require global decision-making. The emergence of global environmental issues such as climate change, marine pollution and biodiversity loss has brought new challenges to governance and requires political support and innovation of global public policies. In addition, many social problems arise because of the environmental crisis. Environmental Issues and Social Inclusion in a Sustainable Era discusses environmental and social inclusion in a socio-economic perspective. The contributions analyse the management of global environmental problems at local, national and international levels, with a special focus on multilevel governance, innovative public policies, and economic development finance and business. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microbial Diversity in the Genomic Era, Second Edition presents techniques used for microbial taxonomy and phylogeny, along with their applications and respective strengths and challenges. Though many advanced techniques for the identification of unknown bacterium are available in the genomic era, a far fewer number of the total microbial species have been discovered and identified to date. With that in mind, this book incorporates recently developed biosystematics methods and approaches to assess microbial taxonomy, with suitable recommendations for where to apply them across the range of bacterial identification and infectious disease research. Here, international researchers in the field first provide a broad overview of microbial genomics research and microbiome directed medicine, followed by sections on molecular tools for microbial diversity research, extremophilic microbial diversity, functional microbial diversity across application areas, microbial diversity and infectious disease research, and future directions for research. Step-by-step methodologies are provided for key techniques, along with applied case studies breaking down recent research studies into the practical components, illuminating pathways for new studies across the field. This new edition has been fully updated to address advances in the field of microbiome directed medicine, and whole genome sequencing for studying microbial diversity, considering both recent technological advances and new applications areas, from extremophile studies to the latest approaches in human microbiome analysis. Instructs in techniques used for microbial taxonomy and phylogeny, with discussions of their applications and respective pros and cons Reviews the evolving field of microbial typing and the genomic technologies that enable comparative metagenomic analysis of complex microbial environments Covers microbiome directed translational research, as well as whole genome sequencing for studying microbial diversity, with newly added research protocols and case studies Reviews future applications in the field of microbiome directed medicine Features chapter contributions from global experts in the field

The International Conference on Educational Technology and Management (ICEMT) is held to bring together academics, researchers, teachers, educational entrepreneurs, practitioners, and policy makers. They are responsible for implementing educational technology by leveraging resources through education management to create and enable ecosystem capabilities and access to education. The Covid-19 pandemic teaches that aspects of information and communication technology in education management are full of limitations. Inevitably, educational users have moved dramatically to online channels. Students and teachers are accustomed to learning from home. There are opportunities, as well as challenges. Although the pandemic isn’t over yet, future updates are needed.
