This conference has gathered researchers, academicians, and practitioners who are concerned with the topics, developing policy recommendations towards a better resilience amidst crises. The theme of the 5th International Conference on Accounting, Management, and Economics (ICAME 2020) was “The New Normal Economy: Risk-Based Decision Making in Economics, Management, and Accounting Perspectives”. The sudden and rapid emergence of the New Normal Era, particularly in business industry forces various elements in the society to challenge the conventional, and universities as the higher education institutions are no exception. It poses challenges to universities to produce graduates with ability to respond to changes, compete globally, create innovations, and quickly adapt to the vast technology advancements. With this in mind, the 5th ICAME has taken the theme The New Normal Economy: Risk-Based Decision Making in Economics, Management, and Accounting Perspectives. The conference invited speakers from academic and business practitioners who are experts in their fields to share their insights related to business and research orientation in facing the New Normal Era. The conference also invited researchers, academicians, and practitioners to participate in the Call for Papers to share their research results. The organizer hopes that the conference can stimulate various new research and discussions about New-Normal Economy that can help society and business to navigate and adapt in this pandemic era.

However, proper maintenance and management are required. Lack of such management would lead to crop loss or reduced crop yields. Hence, the ability to detect and identify diseases on infected crops is a problem of increasing concern. Real-time disease detection systems do not exist in the current agricultural landscape. It requires tremendous amounts of work, expertise in plant diseases, and excessive processing time. Using precision agriculture techniques, combined with AI, a great deal of work is reduced. Contemporary Developments in Agricultural Cyber-Physical Systems provides a forum for researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas and achieve progress in cyber-physical systems by highlighting agricultural applications, advances, and research challenges. The book features chapters on all aspects pertaining to this multidisciplinary paradigm, in particular in its application to sustainable agriculture developments. Covering topics such as automation, monitoring systems, and smart agriculture, this premier reference source is an excellent resource for scientists, healthcare professionals, data analysts, computer scientists, students and educators of higher education, researchers, and academicians.

Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to showcase a diverse set of directions in empirical research on mediated discourse, reflecting on the state-of-the-art and the increasing intersection between Corpus-based Interpreting Studies (CBIS) and Corpus-based Translation Studies (CBTS). Undeniably, data from the European Parliament (EP) offer a great opportunity for such research. Not only does the institution provide a sizeable sample of oral debates held at the EP together with their simultaneous interpretations into all languages of the European Union. It also makes available written verbatim reports of the original speeches, which used to be translated. From a methodological perspective, EP materials thus guarantee a great degree of homogeneity, which is particularly valuable in corpus studies, where data comparability is frequently a challenge. In this volume, progress is visible in both CBIS and CBTS. In interpreting, it manifests itself notably in the availability of comprehensive transcription, annotation and alignment systems. In translation, datasets are becoming substantially richer in metadata, which allow for increasingly refined multi-factorial analysis. At the crossroads between the two fields, intermodal investigations bring to the fore what these mediation modes have in common and how they differ. The volume is thus aimed in particular at Interpreting and Translation scholars looking for new descriptive insights and methodological approaches in the investigation of mediated discourse, but it may be also of interest for (corpus) linguists analysing parliamentary discourse in general.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anchored in historical pragmatics, historical sociolinguistics, and corpus linguistics, this book weaves together a powerful narrative of the significance of stance marking in the history of English. Focusing on the community of practice that developed during the witch trials in Salem (Massachusetts) in 1692–1693, it showcases how witnesses and the recorders of their ca. 450 depositions deployed linguistic features to signal the evaluation of experiences with alleged witchcraft, the intensification of those experiences, and the sources of the witnesses’ knowledge. The resulting stance profiles for groups of depositions, witnesses, and recorders highlight varying strategies of claiming, supporting, and boosting the importance of the evidence and the role of the witnesses within the community of practice. With its innovative focus on sociopragmatic variation in a historical community, the book demonstrates the essential contribution of synchronic-historical research to the analysis, description, and theorization of stance and historical English more broadly.
