Book Synopsis School-Age Child Care by : Michael Allenson
Download or read book School-Age Child Care written by Michael Allenson and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 1993-04-30 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Families need child care more in the 1990s than ever before. Those hours surrounding school time are particularly troublesome for working parents. In this new edition of a pioneering work, Seligson and Allenson explore the challenges that child care providers will encounter as the 21st century approaches. The authors skillfully balance a practical business operations text with an investigation into the meaning of social obligation. The central theme of partnership in offering care underscores each of the 12 chapters. These general planning elements form guidelines designing and managing a caring program for children aged 5-12. Topics covered include administration, curriculum, legal issues, budgeting, and assessment. Careful consideration is given to an outline for human resources development. The authors take an in-depth look at the day-to-day operation of a center--detailing concerns from behavioral and medical to scheduling and transportation. The concept of a child care professionalism which reflects respect, partnership, and caring, is sustained throughout this practical manual. An important contribution to the research and practice of child care, this volume draws providers and practitioners together in a process of self-reflection in order to effectively respond to the needs of today's--and tomorrow's--families.
Book Synopsis Confessions of a Christian Spinster by : Alisha Plummer
Download or read book Confessions of a Christian Spinster written by Alisha Plummer and published by Kregel Publications. This book was released on 2023-05-16 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Encourages, challenges, and orients singles and ministry leaders to the role of the unmarried in church Being single in today's church often feels like a waiting game. You're put on hold in ministry, service, even spiritual growth until you say "I do," and you're either pitied or not seen at all. Unlike today's church, God is not mystified by the presence of unmarried Christ-followers in the pews. In fact, he has masterful plans for those without rings on their fingers. Alisha Plummer points out how God is eager to empower them with purpose and passion. In Confessions of a Christian Spinster, Alisha explores God's design specifically for Christian singlehood through amusing tales and scripturally based truths. She tackles the difficult questions the church often ignores, like: Where do I fit in? Does the church even want me? Has God forgotten about me? What happens if I never get married? Further, she confronts the church, calling for an adjustment to its couple-centric culture, and asking Christians to understand that their single brothers and sisters are not only valued by God but integral to his kingdom. Singles will feel seen through Alisha's words; they'll be encouraged to seize their role in the church and inspire their pastoral staff to reinvent their culture on singleness. Confessions of a Christian Spinster is a powerful resource for those seeking to live and thrive in a perplexed church--and a way forward for the church itself.

Book Synopsis The Historical Books of the Bible: FIRST SAMUEL by : Jeanne Gossett Halsey
Download or read book The Historical Books of the Bible: FIRST SAMUEL written by Jeanne Gossett Halsey and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-06-17 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When I was writing out the verses of 1st Samuel 31, I realized I was mourning the death of Saul, much as I had grieved when I typed out the chapters dealing with the death of Moses. I know he was a real person, I know he was a man whom God looked upon and singled out for His purposes. Too often we focus on "the end" of a person's life (especially if it ended badly) rather than on the whole of his life and celebrate the good things he accomplished. I'm sorry Saul drifted away from his relationship with God, I'm sorry he unjustly persecuted David, I'm sorry he died an ignoble death. It is tragic that his body was butchered and dishonored when he should have received honor and accolades. His sons did not deserve their dishonor either. It remains all the more important that we live our entire lives firmly connected to our Heavenly Father, so that in the end, we will be rightly known as "the children of God" above all else.
