Book excerpt: Ancient man has a very cartoonish, innocent, naive...and almost foolish way of contemplating hell and many of us are finally wise enough to realize where we are. Hell is being given hope and then experience having it being taken away over and over again. Hell is being given love and then watches it go away by every possible creative means under the sun over and over again. Hell is never feeling that you truly belong anywhere, that secret feeling that you have that you doesn’t really belong to this place that you can never get rid of and yet here you are. Hell is living in a world where someone/group/institution/combination/ANYTHING have control over you, you know deep within that you are suppose to be a free agent but in this "place" you are not, you constantly tell yourself this is the way it is but you couldn't really believe it do you... Hell is having the feeling that any time...right about now...something is going to happen and you are going to lose something...everything. The foolish ones wish they could live forever, well I have good news for them, they will, as do all of us. We just don't remember that's all... And on and on it goes... Because the "divine" wishes to live through us...that we may suffer for him that he may experience all that there is to experience...without actually having to be in the shit that we are all in. You may have all the ironically "unconditional love" you ever want from the divine...as long as you continue to do his bidding. You can never die and you can never truly leave...the ONLY REASON you were given the mercy to "get" to forget your past life is so that you are fresh again to experience all that suffering again like it is the first time...everytime... Welcome to Hell. In this book we are going to explore what happened, what led to this.

Book excerpt: Why this book is so important to me and why I would love for everyone to read it: When we find the Naked Jesus, we uncover the freedom to put our faith into action; we desire to do something and not just believe something; we stop talking a good game and get dirty playing the game; we are freed from the institutional church structure that desires to define us and stand invited to the table where the Naked Jesus help us discover who we are; we are freed from the garbage it brings to the party; and we no longer swim in the slime of the shallow end of the pool.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life does not prepare you for losing your mind and there is no guarantee of finding it once you have lost it. The search for my mind and an understanding of why my life had taken such a drastic turn, led me on an investigative journey through my past. Plagued by thoughts of never being whole again, I felt like Humpty Dumpty who fell off the wall. Although I did not have access to the 'king's horses' and the 'king's men', somehow I was 'put back together again.' Perhaps even more than medicine and therapy, love, caring, forgiveness, and nonjudgmental encouragement have been great healers and motivators in my life. This love has also enabled me to love, care, forgive, and encourage others. When I was in a place that I, and others, thought to be a place of no return, I found healing from these unlikely healers. Having been blessed to return from that place, I discovered that sometimes, tragedy is a precursor to triumph and brokenness a prerequisite for wholeness. In my darkest hour, the love and support that I received helped me to find my way. One day while seriously contemplating suicide, sitting with my head in my hands crying, I was startled by a tap on my shoulder from my three year-old son. He patted my shoulder and said, "It's going to be alright daddy, it's going to be alright." Even now, the thought of those words give me a chill, just thinking of how the words of a three-year-old could affect the course of my life. In that moment, a door opened in my mind that allowed me to begin the process of regaining control over my mind and my life. I knew that I did not want to leave him here without a father.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A relevant and timely novel by the New York Times bestselling author of Redeeming Love and The Masterpiece. He seemed like the perfect pastor to lead Centerville Christian Church. She was the perfect pastor’s wife. When Paul Hudson accepted the call to pastor the struggling church, he had no idea what to expect. But it didn’t take long for Paul to turn Centerville Christian Church around. Attendance was up-way up. Everything was going so well. If only his wife could see it that way. Still, he tried not to let her quiet presence disturb him. She knew something wasn’t right, and it hadn’t been for a long time. . . . Eunice closed the bedroom door quietly and knelt beside her bed. “I’m drowning, God. I’ve never felt so alone. Who can I turn to but you, Lord? Where else does a pastor’s wife go for help when her marriage is failing and her life is out of control? Who can I trust with my anguish, Lord? Who but you?” Grasping her pillow, she pressed it tightly to her mouth so that her sobs would not be heard. “This book is a powerful and almost-prophetic statement of the church in America. . . . And the Shofar Blew is a must-read.” —Anne Graham Lotz, bestselling author and speaker “[Rivers] as usual turns in a strong narrative, posing issues that ring loud and clear.” —Booklist “Meticulously plotted, Francine Rivers’s new masterpiece, And the Shofar Blew, brims with unforgettable characters.” —Romantic Times Also available in The Francine Rivers Contemporary Collection (e-book only).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Set in the San Francisco Bay area in the late 1950s, Humpty Dumpty in Oakland is a tragicomedy of misunderstandings among used car dealers and real-estate salesmen: the small-time, struggling individuals for whom Philip K. Dick always reserved his greatest sympathy. Jim Fergesson, an elderly garage owner with a heart condition, is about to sell up and retire; Al Miller is a somewhat feckless mechanic who sublets part of Jim's lot and finds his livelihood threatened by the decision to sell; Chris Harman is a record company owner who for years has relied on Fergesson to maintain his cars. When Harman hears of Fergesson's impending retirement he tips him off to what he says is a cast-iron business proposition: a development in nearby Marin County with an opening for a garage. Al Miller, though, is convinced that Harman is a crook, out to fleece Fergesson of his life's savings. As much as he resents Fergesson he can't bear to see that happen and - denying to himself all the time what he is doing - he sets out to thwart Harman.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few can offer a more experienced view on religion than Ray Bradley. Having been raised as a 'winner of souls for Christ' in the 1940s, he spent the next 40 years as an atheist professor of philosophy and an outspoken critic /debater of religion. Revered for his work in logic and his meticulous approach to debate, God's Gravediggers is Bradley's coup de grâce to religion. A career's worth of work on a subject that could hardly be more important. Approaching the moral, logical and scientific arguments - using rich analogies, rational arguments and examples that non-academics would understand - he explores not only whether God exists, but also what damage the concept of God does. A timely book in an age of religious fundamentalism, hatred and conflict. "Bradley does not gloss over difficult points of logic and reasoning. A pleasure to read." Professor Graham Oppy, Chair of Council of the Australasian Association of Philosophy "From a young person's rejection of Christianity, to a mature philosopher's cogent critique of all religions. This compelling defense of atheism is a brilliant read." Professor Robert Nola, University of Auckland. "Bradley's forte is logic and he brings that to bear throughout the work. It is well-written and thoroughly absorbing. I have nothing but praise for his project." Theodore Drange, Professor Emeritus, West Virginia University
