Book excerpt: Smart spaces have started to become an entire ecosystem in our life to help and support people in their fulfillment, and technology has proven to be an unavoidable part of this area. This study aims to evaluate criterion under the development of technology of smart space using the Technology-Organization-Environment model (T-O-E), the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) and the Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL). Data of 10 sub-categories that capture the characteristics of existing smart space and from experts in this area is collected and analyzed. The findings show that TOPSIS can generate close rankings. We used the relative closeness to obtain the ranking and we observed that the alternative with the best relative importance of aspects is S7 (Tools and Equipment management), thus chosen as the best performing one. We performed a sensitivity analysis on the TOPSIS to assess how the weights assigned to the criterion would affect the result in the rankings, and this was performed on the weight C4 (Technology Availability) following 8 scenarios. The results shows the changes variations in weight input values have significant changes on the rankings, classifying S3 (Cloud services) as the best performing one. The DEMATEL results show that S9 (Software development), and S10 (Data tools for business) have a great influence on other factors since they have the largest prominence (DI+RI) followed by S3 (Cloud services), S4 (Apps market). With the results we obtained, we can conclude that the smart space field has been influenced by technological development, both TOPSIS and DEMATEL methods can help to reduce unreliability and validate the results. From the manager's implications, they should not only rely on the development of technology and management equipment but also consider human centric which is the approach of empowering humans since they are the center of everything for better management and optimal use of the smart space. They also have to take into account the availability of technology, data tools for businesses and cloud services because the world is changing rapidly and businesses need big data and new technologies for their interest.
