Download or read book Montana Beer written by Ryan Newhouse and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2013-07-30 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Montana's brewing history stretches back more than 150 years to the state's days as a territory. But the art of brewing in Montana has come a long way since the frontier era. Today, nearly forty craft breweries span the Treasure State, and the quality of their output rivals the best craft beer produced anywhere in the country. Maybe it's because there's also a little piece of Montana in every glass, as the state's brewers pride themselves on using cold mountain water and locally sourced barley harvested from Montana's ample fields. From grain to glass, " Montana Beer: A Guide to Breweries in Big Sky Country" tells the story of the brewers and breweries that make the Treasure State's brew so special.
Book Synopsis Brewing in Montana by : Ryan Newhouse
Download or read book Brewing in Montana written by Ryan Newhouse and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2022-10-03 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Montana can trace its brewing roots back more than 150 years to when a barrel of beer was brewed in Virginia City and carried to the town saloon. Since then, Montana has seen breweries large and small erupt along cattle trails and at train stations and riverside trading posts. Some of the brewers and breweries set in Montana were the foundations of future, national-brand breweries, having unique ties to Olympia Brewing and Pabst Brewing Company. And like many other states across the country, Montana was not immune to Prohibition, though not every brewer laid down without a fight. The breweries in the Big Sky state showed resilience when needed, but more so, they were reflections of the diverse communities and economies the state fostered. Fortunately, when Montana's mines began to dry up, agriculture took over, and even in the early 20th century, state officials documented in the Seventh Annual Report 1900-1901 that Montana could be "one the chief beer producing states in the nation" because of the amount of barley growing on the land.
Book Synopsis Virginia City by : Thompson-Hickman County Library
Download or read book Virginia City written by Thompson-Hickman County Library and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2011-04-18 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tucked between the Tobacco Root Mountains and Mount Baldy in southwestern Montana, Virginia City began in May 1863, when gold was discovered in Alder Gulch. Some 10,000 fortune seekers arrived, and the days of whiskey, revolvers, road agents, and vigilantes began. Boot Hill, overlooking the town, is a constant reminder of its rough, tough, and unruly past. A great number of mining towns have become ghost towns, but not Virginia City, thanks to the men and women who gave of themselves to establish a permanent town where families, schools, churches, businesses, and organizations would thrive.
