Book Synopsis Live Free and Prosper by : Thomas R Saving
Download or read book Live Free and Prosper written by Thomas R Saving and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2015-12-22 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The central theme of this manuscript is that the sanctity of the individual stands above all other aspects of life. From this simple idea flows the benefits of free exchange. Because free exchange generates benefits to both sides of the exchange a surplus is created. It is this surplus that is the great benefit to those in the exchange but a temptation to those outside the exchange. The existence of the free exchange surplus is part of the reason that individual freedom, while written about extensively, has historically been rare. Governments be they democracies or dictatorships covet the surpluses generated by free exchange. This great country is perhaps the longest lasting bastion of freedom that the world has known. But as we dilute of constitutional protection of the individual in favor of the village we are going down a path leading to the eventual elimination of individual freedom. In part one of this book I lay out the benefits of freedom of exchange and the forces that make its achievement so difficult. Then in part two I analyze the aspects of current economic issues whose solutions have been driven by political considerations. For each of these societal problems I suggest solutions that are freedom enhancing in contrast to the current government solution that solves problems by limiting individual freedom. Ultimately the future of freedom depends on finding a way to allow individual freedom within the necessity of a communal reaction to world events. Essentially representative democracy necessitates that we have agents acting on our behalf. The problem is finding ways to ensure that these agents act on our behalf.

Download or read book Liberal Democracy written by Max Meyer and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-01-01 with total page 77 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book aims to show which factors have been decisive in the rise of successful countries. Never before have so many people been so well off. However, prosperity is not a law of nature; it has to be worked for. A liberal economy stands at the forefront of this success - not as a political system, but as a set of economic rules promoting competition, which in turn leads to innovation, research and enormous productivity. Sustainable prosperity is built on a foundation of freedom, equal opportunity and a functioning government. This requires a stable democracy that cannot be defeated by an autocrat. Autocrats claim that "illiberalism" is more efficient, an assertion that justifies their own power. Although autocrats can efficiently guide the first steps out of poverty, once a certain level of prosperity has been achieved, people begin to demand a sense of well-being - freedom and codetermination. Only when this is possible will they feel comfortable, and progress will continue. Respect for human rights is crucial. The rules of the free market do not lean to either the right or left politically. Liberalism and the welfare state are not mutually exclusive. The "conflict" concerns the amount of government intervention. Should there be more or less? As a lawyer, entrepreneur, and board member with over 40 years of experience in this field of conflict, the author clearly describes the conditions necessary for a country to maintain its position at the top.

Book Synopsis Economic Freedom and Interventionism by : Ludwig Von Mises
Download or read book Economic Freedom and Interventionism written by Ludwig Von Mises and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Economic Freedom and Interventionism is both a primer of the fundamental thought of Ludwig von Mises and an anthology of the writings of perhaps the best-known exponent of what is now known as the Austrian School of economics. This volume contains forty-seven articles edited by Mises scholar Bettina Bien Greaves. Among them are Mises's expositions of the role of government, his discussion of inequality of wealth, inflation, socialism, welfare, and economic education, as well as his exploration of the "deeper" significance of economics as it affects seemingly noneconomic relations between human beings. These papers are valuable reading for students of economic freedom and the science of human action. Ludwig von Mises (1881-1973) was the leading spokesman of the Austrian School of economics throughout most of the twentieth century. Bettina Bien Greaves is a former resident scholar and trustee of the Foundation for Economic Education and was a senior staff member at FEE from 1951 to 1999.

Book Synopsis Biblical Economic Policy: Ten Scriptural Truths for Fiscal and Monetary Decision-Making by : David Arnott PhD
Download or read book Biblical Economic Policy: Ten Scriptural Truths for Fiscal and Monetary Decision-Making written by David Arnott PhD and published by AuthorLoyalty. This book was released on 2021-09-06 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does the Bible say about economics? A lot. What about socialism, which is becoming an increasingly common concern in US economic policy discussions? In Biblical Economic Policy, Arnott and Saydometov build a biblical framework for analyzing national economic policy that takes on everything from taxes to spending to tariffs to minimum wage. The Bible has something to say about all these critical present-day issues, and this book explains how to apply it to 21st-century policies. Authors Dave Arnott and Sergiy Saydometov hold up the mirror of the Bible and ask their fellow Christians, “Is this the way we're supposed to run a biblical economy?” What the book is not: ● It is NOT a financial advice book. ● It is NOT about how to apply business principles at work. ● It is NOT about stewardship or giving. ● It is NOT about how to run your business for the glory of God. Biblical Economic Policy takes the macroeconomic view and analyzes how well America's economic policies align with biblical principles. This book tackles difficult present-day economic policies, including taxes, spending, national debt, interest rates, and money supply. Written with sound biblical grounding, in accessible language, Biblical Economic Policy will turn the common reader into a biblical economic analyst.
