Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The central theme of the New Testament is God's love for you as an individual. This love was revealed through Christ's coming into the world and living among men, His dying on the cross and rising from the dead. Through Christ's death God offers you forgiveness for your sins, and through His resurrection the promise of everlasting life. Christ died and rose again for the whole world, but for you to become a Christian is an individual matter. The only way to establish a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is to accept His offer of forgiveness and everlasting life. The following Scripture passages show God's part and yours. Read each verse and believe it, for it is the Word of God speaking to you. God's love is revealed "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 God loves you and all of mankind. He wants to bless your life and make it full and complete. He offers you not only an abundant life here and now, but a life which is eternal--His very own life. Man is sinful "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 The saying, "Well, we are just human--nobody is perfect," is biblically sound. When we acknowledge this truth, we can see our separation from God, for He is holy. Sin has a penalty "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23 To continue in sin will result in spiritual death, which is separation from God forever. The alternative is to personally receive God's free gift, which is pardon for sin and provision of life everlasting. Christ paid the penalty "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 You may think you must lead a "good" life and do charitable acts before God will love you. This is not so. God loves you even in your sin. He sent Christ to die in your place and to pay the penalty for your sin so that you can be reconciled to Him. Salvation is a free gift "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8,9 Grace means undeserved favor. God graciously offers to you what you could never do for yourself. God's gift to you is free. You do not, and cannot, work for a gift. All you need to do is receive it. Believe with all your heart that Jesus Christ died for you to provide deliverance from your sins and to give you eternal life. We must receive Christ "But as many as received Him [Christ], to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name." John 1:12 When you receive Christ--when you accept what He has done for you--you become a child of God. Picture, if you will, Jesus Christ standing at the door of your life. Invite Him in. He is waiting to be received into your life. Receive Christ now You can invite Jesus Christ into your life right now by praying to God something like the following: Dear Lord, I know that I am a sinner and that I need Your forgiveness. I believe that Christ died in my place to pay the penalty for my sin and that He rose from the dead. I now invite Jesus Christ to come into my life as my Savior. Thank You for making me Your child. Help me learn to please You in every part of my life. God's Promises from His Word. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13 If you just now received Christ by calling upon the name of the Lord in prayer, the following took place: your sins were forgiven (Colossians 1:14); you became a child of God (John 1:12); you were made an heir to all of God's blessings (Romans 8:16,17); and you now possess everlasting life (1 John 5:12, 13)! You became a Christian the moment you received Christ. Don't trust your feelings, for they will change. Take God at His Word and believe His promises. Review the above passages whenever doubts arise. You should be able to say with assurance, "I have received Christ. On the authority of God's Word, I have eternal life." May God grant you "all joy and peace in believing" Romans 15:13

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CHRIST IS ALIVE I have found that one can tell how a person values life by his estimation of death. I once talked with a man who had never given serious thought to death until it was discovered that he had cancer. "Immediately my entire world changed," he said. "The things I valued most became worthless, and the things that I thought were of little value are now the most important things in the world to me." GETTING READY FOR ETERNITY Physical life is a possession that we all cling to, and yet we know we must all sooner or later bow to death. It enters the home of the rich as boldly as it enters the apartment in the projects. It brings down the final curtain as swiftly on the famous as it does on the unknown. Before this year ends, many people reading this message will keep their appointment with death. There are many who say, "I believe in life after death, but I'm not concerned about crossing that bridge until I get to it." How strange that people should spend years preparing for retirement and not take so much as five minutes to prepare to meet God ANOTHER ATTITUDE TOWARD DEATH IS THIS: "I STAND WITH CHRIST, THE LORD OF LIFE AND DEATH, AND REST MY CASE IN HIS HANDS." David said, "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me" (Psalm 23:4). The apostle Paul said, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain" (Philippians 1:21). Both men were looking ahead to death with calm assurance. They knew that this life is only a dressing room for eternity. Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live" (John 11:25). Death need not be a bitter end--it can be a bright dawning. ASSURANCE IN LIFE-- AND IN DEATH Christ is alive And because he is alive, that makes all the difference in the world. In his resurrection, evil has been defeated, love has conquered hate, death has lost its sting, and Satan has been defeated. In his death on the cross, Christ declared that the full penalty for sin has been paid. And one day all of creation will burst forth into a new song. Christ is alive The early Christians proclaimed that truth. They believed that the same power that raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will work in and through us to rescue us from our doubts, our darkness, our failure, and even our death. As we look at the world today we cannot help but be disturbed by what is happening. But the resurrection of Christ tells us, as his followers, that we need not press the panic button. It is true that we are concerned and burdened, and it is certain that we are going to die, but we do not cry in terror as others do. The day before John Hus, a fifteenth-century martyr condemned for his faith in Christ, was to be burned at the stake, he wrote, "I write this in prison and in chains, expecting tomorrow to receive the sentence of death--full of hope in God that I shall not swerve from the truth." Is this hope, peace, and joy yours? Can you face death with a smile, with full confidence that you are going into the presence of Christ? You can have this hope if you are willing to turn from sin and trust Christ. "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." ROMANS 10:9

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the years I have talked to thousands of people who have asked me how to find their way to God. Some have sat in church pews all their lives but never come to personally know God. Others have sought for ultimate meaning in all sorts of ways but never found the peace of mind for which they were searching. Some simply realize that there is something vital missing in their lives. The Bible teaches that this sense of lostness is rooted in the fact that we live in a fallen world. We are all handicapped by a sin nature: "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). And despite our best efforts, we are unable to remove the haunting weight of guilt that separates us from our Creator. God sent his Son to solve the dilemma caused by our sin. "God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). Jesus Christ made the way to God for us by his death on the cross. He purchased our salvation by the shedding of his blood. His death and resurrection made a new and everlasting covenant between God and humanity. Jesus told his disciples, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). He did not merely point the way to God. He himself claimed to be the only way to the Father and the source of eternal truth and life. The way to God is through personal faith in Jesus Christ. Intellectual acceptance of Christ is not enough. You must come to him determined to turn from what displeases him, with a total trust in Christ's saving power for you. Christ promises those who turn to him: "Whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life" (John 5:24). Today you can come to him by surrendering your life and heart to Christ. The Bible says: "To all who did receive him [Jesus Christ], who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12). Right where you are you can pray something like this: Lord, I know that I have sinned and need your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ died for me and rose from the dead. I invite you into my life to be my Lord and Savior. If you sincerely put your faith in Christ, God promises not only to forgive you, but also to adopt you into his family. It's the greatest gift you will ever receive!

Book excerpt: A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a common belief today that "all roads lead to God." While it is noble to respect each other's religious faith, the Bible teaches that the only way a person can be reconciled to God is on God's terms. Here are five "landmarks" that set Christianity apart from other roads. The Bible is the only inspired, infallible Word of God! Historians agree as to the authenticity of the New and Old Testament writings, and contrary to popular belief, transmission of the text was completed with 99.99% precision. Conclusive evidence for the infallibility of the Bible includes: the bibliographicaltest; historical and archaeological confirmations; the Bible's harmony and unity (considering it contains 66 books written over 1,500 years, by 40 authors on 3 continents); and the Bible's fulfilled predictive prophecies. There were 330 specific prophecies about the coming Messiah in the Old Testament--fulfilled with 100% accuracy in the life of Jesus centuries later! God spoke to the Old Testament prophets revealing history in advance because he is outside of time. The Bible itself declares, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God [by the Holy Spirit] . . . ." REFERENCE: 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Matthew 5:18, 24:35; Psalm 119:89. COMPARE: No other "written religious authority" in historyhas provided such purity of text, such historical/archaeological confirmations, and such extensive prophecy fulfilled anywhere near 100% accuracy! GOD HIMSELF IS THE FOUNDER OF CHRISTIANITY. The God of the Bible is the eternal, triune God (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit). He is the creator and sustainer of all life, creating the human race to enjoy a relationship with himself. Jesus Christ is the Second Person of the Trinity--God the Son. Jesus humbly took the form of a man and came to earth as Savior to redeem us. Jesus predicted to his disciples that he would die and then rise from the dead three days later, an event which would validate his claims to be God! He did not try to escape death on the cross, but he submitted to it. REFERENCE: John 1:29, 2:19; Philippians 2:6-8; 1 John 4:2; Matthew 12:40, 26:52-54; Titus 2:13; Revelation 13:8. COMPARE: All other religions' "founders" were mere men, not God himself! "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him [ Jesus] should not perish but have eternal life" ( John 3:16)! God the Father gave up his Son for us. His gift of eternal life is free to us, but it cost him crucifixion. God loves every person with an unconditional, divine love! He created us to live in relationship with him, but the Bible says that sin and death entered the world through Adam, in the garden of Eden. Thus, all humanity is guilty of sin against God (Romans 3:23). The penalty of sin is spiritual death (Romans 6:23), but Jesus willingly died on the cross, in our place, to pardon us. If we were to ask God to prove his love for us, he would point to the CROSS! REFERENCE: Matthew 26:31,39; Hebrews 9:22, 13:20; Revelation 13:8; Isaiah 53:4-6. COMPARE: No other religions' "founders" loved people so perfectly, nor sacrificed so greatly to prove it! Other religions require human works for redemption. The good news of Christianity is that God has provided us with the way to himself. THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST IS THE CENTRAL PILLAR OF CHRISTIANITY, and the evidence for its historicity is conclusive. We have the actual eyewitness accounts of this event in the Gospels of Matthew, John, etc.; the empty tomb, despite the presence of the Roman guards, the transformation of the apostles, and the post-resurrection appearances of Jesus. By his resurrection Jesus conquered sin and death, thereby offering new life, eternal life, to us! Jesus declared, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live" ( John 11:25). REFERENCE: John 11:25; Acts 1:3; Hebrews 12:2; Matthew 17:9; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8. COMPARE: No other religions' "founders" ever conquered death by resurrection (returning to life). JESUS CHRIST CLAIMS TO BE THE ONLY WAY TO ETERNAL SALVATION. In his own words Jesus declared: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" ( John 14:6). Logically, if there really is a God, then we must come to him by his own prescribed way! That prescribed road, according to the God of the Bible, is by faith in Jesus Christ! Religions are based on various systems of works, whereas Christianity is based on Jesus and what he has already done for us! REFERENCE: John 14:6; Matthew 25:41; Acts 4:12; John 3:16; Romans 10:9; 1 Peter 3:18. COMPARE: Other religions and philosophies claim that all roads lead to God, but their contradictory beliefs cannot be reconciled. THEREFORE . . . It cannot be true that "all roads lead to God." The various teachings about God from different religions contradict each other in critical ways. God cannot at the sametime be both impersonal and personal, both singular and triune, both finite and infinite, both knowable and unknowable. There is no way to reconcile the various worldviews, such as pantheism, monotheism, and polytheism. Therefore, logically, either none of them--or only one--is true! The real issue is Truth, an issue of infinite importance. IN CONCLUSION: Jesus Christ voluntarily died on a Roman cross 2,000 years ago to pay the penalty for our sins and to demonstrate his love for us. He was "God himself who came in the flesh"--the promised Messiah. The gospel of grace is: Whoever believes in the biblical Jesus Christ--who lived, died, and then three days later resurrected--willhave eternal life in heaven! God longs to have a personal relationship with you through his Son, Jesus Christ, who says: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20). REFERENCE: Revelation 3:20; John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; John 11:25 WHAT'S NEXT? - Read the Bible and Scriptures in the references above to learn more about God. - Believe that Jesus died for you on the cross, came back to life from the grave, and is your only way to heaven. - Pray: Dear Jesus, thank you for saving me from my sins. I believe that you are my Savior, and I now receive you into my life, so I can have forgiveness and life in eternity with you.

Book excerpt: Forgiving someone after they've sinned against you can be difficult--but perhaps even more difficult is the realization that God forgives all of our sins, as long as we humbly ask.
