Book Synopsis Holocene Delta in Western Lake Geneva and Its Palaeoenvironmental Implications by : Ira Baster
Download or read book Holocene Delta in Western Lake Geneva and Its Palaeoenvironmental Implications written by Ira Baster and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Lake Systems from the Ice Age to Industrial Time by : Daniel Ariztegui
Download or read book Lake Systems from the Ice Age to Industrial Time written by Daniel Ariztegui and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-03-07 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the 20th century, lake research has become an internationally recognised field of scientific activity, improving our understanding on physical, chemical and biological processes, on fresh water ecology, and water resources among others. The interdisciplinary approaches mainly developed in historical research, as performed by archaeologists and earth scientists, to reconstruct the environmental and climate history of the continents, of human settlements and culture, and to evaluate human impact on the local and global environments. The Geological Society of Switzerland publishes in this volume a selected number of contributions presented during a scientific conference on "Lake Systems from Ice Age to Industrial Time" at Yverdon from 17 to 20 October 2001.

Book Synopsis Geochronological, Structural, Isotopes and Fluid Inclusion Constraints of the Polymetallic Domo de Yauli District, Peru by : Sébastien Beuchat
Download or read book Geochronological, Structural, Isotopes and Fluid Inclusion Constraints of the Polymetallic Domo de Yauli District, Peru written by Sébastien Beuchat and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Stratigraphy, Petrology, and Geochemistry of Nevado de Longaví Volcano, Chilean Andes (36.2°S) by : Daniel Fernando Sellés Mathieu
Download or read book Stratigraphy, Petrology, and Geochemistry of Nevado de Longaví Volcano, Chilean Andes (36.2°S) written by Daniel Fernando Sellés Mathieu and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Sedimentary Basins by : Gerhard Einsele

Book Synopsis Ostracoda as Proxies for Quaternary Climate Change by :
Download or read book Ostracoda as Proxies for Quaternary Climate Change written by and published by Newnes. This book was released on 2012-12-31 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ostracod crustaceans, common microfossils in marine and freshwater sedimentary records, supply evidence of past climatic conditions via indicator species, transfer function and mutual climatic range approaches as well as the trace element and stable isotope geochemistry of their shells. As methods of using ostracods as Quaternary palaeoclimate proxies have developed, so too has a critical awareness of their complexities, potential and limitations. This book combines up-to-date reviews (covering previous work and summarising the state of the art) with presentations of new, cutting-edge science (data and interpretations as well as methodological developments) to form a major reference work that will constitute a durable bench-mark in the science of Ostracoda and Quaternary climate change. - In-depth and focused treatment of palaeoclimate applications - Provides durable benchmark and guide for all future work on ostracods - Presents new, cutting-edge science
Download or read book The Aral Sea written by Philip Micklin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-22 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is structured into six core parts. The first part sets the scene and explains how the use of Aral basin water resources, primarily used for irrigation, have destroyed the Aral Sea. The team explains how spheres and events interact and the related problems. Part 2 examines the social consequences of the ecological catastrophe and the affect of the Aral Sea desiccation on cultural and economic conditions of near Aral region. Part 3 explores the scientific causes of the destruction using detailed analyses and data plus some of their own research spanning aquatic biology, terrestrial biology, hydrology, water management and biodiversity. They also share some of the latest archaeological discoveries and paleobotanical analysis to delineate past levels and characteristics of the Aral Sea. There is particular focus on modern remote sensing and GIS techniques and how they can monitor the Aral Sea and the environment. Part 4 discusses regional and international initiatives to mitigate human and ecological problems of the Aral Sea and the wider political and economic consequences. With thorough insight of the total environment cost, the final chapters of the book will provide lessons for the future. There are insightful case studies throughout. Multidisciplinary by nature, all titles in our new reference book series will explore significant changes within the Earth’s ecosystems and to some extent, and will tackle ways to think about our changing environment.
