Book Synopsis Evil Eye, Jinn Possession, and Mental Health Issues by : G. Hussein Rassool
Download or read book Evil Eye, Jinn Possession, and Mental Health Issues written by G. Hussein Rassool and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Evil Eye, Jinn Possession, and Mental Health Issues raises awareness of the cultural considerations, religion and spirituality involved in the assessment of Muslim patients with mental health problems. The belief that Jinn spirits can cause mental illness in humans through affliction or possession is widely accepted among Muslims, meaning this belief is a crucial, but frequently overlooked, aspect of mental health problems with Muslim patients in psychiatric care. This book explores the nature of such beliefs, their relationship to mental health and the reasons for their importance in clinical practice. The book argues that it is vital to consider mental disorders as a multifactorial affair, in which spiritual, social, psychological and physical factors may all play a role. It suggests differential diagnostic skills may have an important part to play in offering help to those who believe their problems are caused by possession, and provides accessible literature on clinical issues and practice, interventions, management and evidence-based practice to help health workers achieve a better understanding of Muslim beliefs about possession and how to work with patients that hold such beliefs. Evil Eye, Jinn Possession, and Mental Health Issues is an essential manual for mental health professionals, social workers and psychologists. It should also be of interest to academics and students in the healthcare sciences.

Book Synopsis Nurses and Nursing by : Pádraig Ó Lúanaigh
Download or read book Nurses and Nursing written by Pádraig Ó Lúanaigh and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-04-21 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook draws on international contributors with a range of backgrounds to explore, engage with and challenge readers in understanding the many aspects and elements that inform and influence contemporary nursing practice. With a focus to the future, this book explores the challenges facing health services and presents the arguments for a nursing contribution and influence in ensuring safe and quality care. Readers are supported to explore how, as individuals, they can shape their personal nursing identity and practice. The structure of the text is based on the belief that an individual nurse’s professional identity is developed through an interaction between their personal attributes and the influences of the profession itself. Reflecting this approach, the authors engage in a conversation with the reader rather than simply presenting a series of facts and information. Organised around a series of topical and pertinent questions and drawing on perspectives from policy, education and practice, the book explores a diverse range of topics such as: how historical and popular media representations of nursing hold back nursing practice today; the opportunities presented through education and nursing role development to increase the nursing contribution to health services; the economic and political influences on nursing and health care; how the professional regulation of nurses and core values informs your practice; ways to define and develop your own strong nursing identity. Central chapter questions provide ideal triggers for group discussions in class or online and equally as discussion topics between colleagues to support ongoing professional development. There is an emphasis throughout Nurses and Nursing on challenging thinking to recast nursing practice for the future by encouraging the reader to explore and create their emerging nursing identity or re-examine previously long held views. This text supports the reader to better understand health care, nursing and most importantly themselves as nurses.

Book Synopsis Heavenly Holy Hell by : Yvonne Annette Curtis
Download or read book Heavenly Holy Hell written by Yvonne Annette Curtis and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2024-06-30 with total page 501 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heaven is just as much part of earth as Hell is. Heaven wasn't always peaceful and Hell never will be at peace. Hell and Heaven is part of life as we journey through it daily as we face our trials and tribulations. Life is what you make of it, but it is what it is. Heaven is real and so is Hell. Despite what goodness lies ahead, evil always presents itself within. There is a God, despite what many believe. There is always a higher being above- spiritual, but mysterious. Mankind didn't make the world; they're just made to help keep the world going. Many don't believe in a God, but all believes there is a devil. But many people despite their belief, find themselves calling on God in situations; where those who believes knows who God is and what he can do. But through everything, it matters how you choose to live your life and treat people. We're here for one another to love, help, and respect in a way we would want for ourselves. We are not here just to live a life; we are all here for a purpose. We were created out of love and without our choice, God chose our families, our gender, our skin tone as he saw fit. God didn't make us to be superior or inferior over others because of our gender, our skin tone, or because we have or have not. Money and power can't give you the peace of mind, the happiness you deserve, nor the love you desire because the more you get, the more you want. But prayer is powerful and so is faith. In this life the good goes with the bad. We can't live this life alone not needing somebody at some time or another. You're not liable for how people treat you, but you are held responsible for how you treat them. Forgiveness and reconciliation is deep and can be a burden uplifted. It pays to live life at your best doing what's right than living with regrets. We reap what kind of life we sow and what goes around comes around both the good and the bad. Jesus was once a kid and did kid things until he reached adulthood, he put childish things behind. And God like any real father, don't want to see their kid suffering or hurt as he saw the people mistreat his son on earth. But God being a compassionate, forgiving, and loving God accepted his son plea to help bring mankind back to him at whatever it took. Jesus loved us so much despite our attitude and behavior that he gave up a peaceful life in heaven to come to a condemn world to save us from being destroyed. Satan always envied Jesus, but he knew Jesus didn't deserve to be mistreated although him himself tried tempting him as he has done to mankind and the angels in heaven. Jesus took the abuse, tolerated the lies, bears the cross, and dies out of love for us. Satan is desperate for power and control that he only can gain through the people sinful ways. Satan would go through any attempt to get people to give him their soul through lies and temptation. Although, Satan preys on the weak and vulnerable. He doesn't make anyone do anything, he just makes bad look good, and revenge looks rewarding. He knows how to manipulate and deceive you. He uses your mistakes and past of secrets against you. But through all and in the end good always wins one way or another. This book is about life and the things we go through. It tells you there's nothing new under the sun even through the different eras of time. Most of all it tells you that God is and will always be, and that he says what he means and means what he says.

Book Synopsis The Doctor’s Dilemma by : George Bernard Shaw
Download or read book The Doctor’s Dilemma written by George Bernard Shaw and published by Standard Ebooks. This book was released on 2024-09-04T17:32:27Z with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sir Colenso Ridgeon is a respected medical man who has developed a new cure for tuberculosis. His limited resources mean he can cure only a few people at a time, leaving him to decide who lives and who dies. The dilemma he faces is whose life is worth saving: a talented but amoral young artist, or a goodhearted public servant? Ridgeon is helped in his decision by his friends, doctors all, who represent author George Bernard Shaw’s opinion of the medical men of his day: a surgeon who prescribes an operation for every ailment; a general practitioner who sells cheap patent medicines to London’s poor; a wealthy and successful doctor to the rich and famous devoid of any medical talent but with a charming bedside manner; and a cynical retired doctor with no tolerance for modern medical science. Shaw uses this backdrop to draw out the two social problems at the heart of the play. First, what makes one man more worthy of society’s resources: personal virtue, artistic talent, or money? Second, and more important, the play highlights the danger of a medical system where every doctor has an incentive to treat their patients, but not to cure them. This book is part of the Standard Ebooks project, which produces free public domain ebooks.

Download or read book African Genius written by Basil Davidson and published by Ohio University Press. This book was released on 2005-01-01 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The African Genius presents the ideas, social systems, religions, moral values, arts, and metaphysics of a range of African peoples. Basil Davidson points toward the Africa that might emerge from an ancient civilization that was overlaid and battered by colonialism, then torn apart by the upheaval of colonialism’s dismantlement. Davidson disputes the notion that Africa gained under colonialism by entering the modern world. He sees, instead, an ancient order replaced by modern dysfunction. Davidson’s depiction of the sophisticated “native genius” that has carried Africans through centuries of change is vital to an understanding of modern Africa as well.
