Book Synopsis Hey Dad, It's Me! by : Julie McGhghy
Download or read book Hey Dad, It's Me! written by Julie McGhghy and published by . This book was released on 2021-09-26 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you struggled to see God fathering you throughout your life? Julie McGhghy began the first Father's Day card she sent to her biological father when she was 14 years old with Hey Dad, It's Me! After meeting him when she was 16 years old, they built a relationship that always seemed guarded. At her dad's funeral, she learned why. Julie's dad felt guilty for having left her and her brother when they were small children and letting another man adopt them. For many years afterward, she mentally constructed letters she would have sent her dad explaining why he didn't need to feel guilty. Julie was not fatherless. God fathered her better than any earthly father could have. Julie is one of millions of people who grew up with a physically or emotionally absent father. If you are one of them, or if you minister to someone who is one of them, then read Hey Dad, It's Me! to learn how God has also fathered you. If you don't feel loved or lovable because your father was not present and didn't love you, read how God loved Julie, and loves you, unconditionally and does all the things you wanted your father to do. If you declare by faith that God is "God the Father," but you are unable to see that God has actually fathered you throughout your life, read Hey Dad, It's Me! Julie will help you see that God is not just your Heavenly Father, but He actively fathers you here and now because He loves you.

Download or read book "Hi Dad'' written by Robert Velves and published by Robert S. Velves. This book was released on 2023-03-27 with total page 69 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some soulmates are meant to part ways and not end up together. Although Treb has intense emotions for a colleague, he has the awareness that it would be inappropriate to pursue a romantic entanglement. Treb is the only one Mariella loves. He embodies all the traits that she seeks in a suitable male companion. Despite being aware of Treb's affection for her, she is perplexed by his lack of initiative in pursuing a potential relationship with her. She asserted her interest in him directly and thus took control of the situation. Despite waiting for a long time, she has yet to receive any form of reciprocation. Mariella, who was beautiful, bright, and youthful, had her affections for Treb turn from strong love to hatred because of perceived rejection. In order to seek revenge, she and her friends concocted a plan to create slight nuisances for Treb, just enough to irritate him greatly. Treb, who stoically endured the torment of unrequited love through his adherence to self-restraint, ultimately faced utter devastation due to the uncompromising adherence to his moral values. Inevitably, he was left with no choice but to leave. Forever. ---------------- I sighed and locked the door behind me, telling the reflection to leave me alone. I expect to be welcomed with "Hi Daddy" pleasantries from younger coworkers when I enter the workplace building. Words that have become synonymous with rudeness for me since it suggests age discrimination. Additionally, my stomach doesn't have the audacity to accept certain faces as my children, especially those who appear older than me and whose faces even their own mothers would disown. Even those security guards who have the bravado to be polite call me "dad", and I am not sure if that is now included in their training. Included are those in higher management positions who appear relieved to find someone older in age, as if my face can hide their horrible adult fats. For some people, the fact that the word ''faces'' rhymes with feces is no coincidence. Please accept my apologies for being mean, but I also deserved to be handled with kindness and sensitivity. I remembered Al Pacino’s line in the movie, Devil’s Advocate, ‘’I rest my case. Vanity is definitely my favorite sin. Kevin, it's so basic—self-love is the all-natural opiate.'' Those I consider real friends are those who call me Treb.

In Sandcastle Kings, Rich Wilkerson, Jr. uses four powerful stories from the seventh chapter of Luke to explain why spiritual fulfillment cannot be found in ourselves, in other people, in material things, or even in religion. By studying the stories of the centurion’s faith, the resurrection of the widow’s son, Jesus’ message about John the Baptist, and the anointing by the woman with the alabaster jar, you will be able to face your doubts and insecurities and overcome your anxiety, discontentment, and depression. Wilkerson wants you to understand that the only answer for your spiritual bankruptcy is Jesus and that until you turn to him you will never experience the lasting peace and joy you so desperately crave.

Download or read book The Deed written by Susannah Begbie and published by Hachette Australia. This book was released on 2024-05-01 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Now that's the way to bury your old man ... he sank into his Jason recliner, wincing. A burial: a body wrapped in handwoven cloth, women dancing and wailing. Too much, in Tom's opinion, but at least they were mourning. To hell with that, at least they showed up.' Tom Edwards is dying, and cranky. He's made his peace with the dying part. But he'd bet his property - the whole ten thousand acres of it - that there'd be no wailing at his funeral. His kids wouldn't be able to chop down a tree, let alone build a coffin to bury him in. Then Tom has an idea ... Christine is furious, David ashen-faced, and Sophie distracted. Only Jenny listens carefully as Vince Barton, of Barton & Sons, reads their father's will. Either they build his coffin - in four days - or they lose their inheritance. All of it. A perceptive and unforgettable debut novel, The Deed explores the messy, sometimes volatile, complications that only the best and worst of family can bring. Sometimes greed can be good. 'Splendidly told through a rich layering of characterisation . . . Funny, heartfelt and unforgettable' SYDNEY ARTS GUIDE
