Download or read book Imago Exegetica written by Walter Melion and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2014-03-10 with total page 1088 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume consists of essays that pose fundamental questions about the relation between verbal and visual hermeneutics, especially as relates to biblical culture. Exegesis, as theologians and historians of art, religion, and literature, have come increasingly to acknowledge, was neither solely textual nor aniconic; on the contrary, following from Scripture itself, which is replete with verbal images and rhetorical figures, exegesis has traditionally utilized visual devices of all kinds. In turn, visual exegesis, since it concerns the most authoritative of texts, supplied a template for the interpretation of other kinds of significant text by means of images. Seen in this light, exegetical images prove crucial to understanding how meaning was constituted visually, not only in the sacred sphere but also in the secular. Contributors include Giovanni Careri, Joseph Chorpenning, James Clifton, Nathalie de Brézé, Maria Deiters, Ralph Dekoninck, Arthur diFuria, Caroline van Eck, Dagmar Eichberger, Ingrid Falque, Wim François, Merel Groentjes, Agnès Guiderdoni, Barbara Haeger, Alexander Linke, Walter Melion, Jürgen Müller, Birgit Ulrike Münch, Colette Nativel, Wolfgang Neuber, Shelley Perlove, Leopoldine Prosperetti, Todd Richardson, Bret Rothstein, Tatiana Senkevitch, Larry Silver, Jamie Smith, Trudelien van 't Hof, Michel Weemans, and Elliott Wise

Download or read book Semántica de las imágenes written by Mauricio Beuchot and published by Siglo XXI. This book was released on 2007 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book La desilusión de la imagen written by Víctor Silva Echeto and published by Editorial GEDISA. This book was released on 2016-11 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. JENARO TALENS (escritor).

Book Synopsis Waiting Territories in the Americas by : Alain Musset
Download or read book Waiting Territories in the Americas written by Alain Musset and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2016-09-23 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mobility and displacement are major characteristics of contemporary societies. These population shifts are far from fluid, homogeneous or linear, but are, instead, interspersed with a range of longer or shorter periods of waiting. Whether these intervals are technically, administratively or politically motivated, they are often understood in spatial terms: waiting societies have a territorial dimension. This volume examines and assesses the many forms that waiting territories take, in order to better understand their various juridical statuses, their relationships with their spatial environment and specific forms of temporality, and the various economic and social relationships which they foster. The contributions primarily focus on the Americas because this continent is the product of the (voluntary or forced) displacement of various population groups that have themselves left their mark on the territories which they have appropriated. The book is divided into five parts. Part I, “The Genealogy and Stakes of Waiting Situations”, presents waiting as a state of mobility; Part II, ‘”When Waiting Defines a Territory”, focuses on the spatial implications of situations of waiting; Part III, “Social Practices and Spatial Dynamics in Waiting Territories”, explores the ways in which people inhabit waiting territories; Part IV, “Waiting Territories and the Challenges to Identity”, examines the mutations of identity in situations of waiting; and Part V, “The Memory, Heritage, and Curation of Waiting Territories”, looks at the way in which waiting territories can become the focus of heritage practices and the politics of memory.

Book Synopsis Image, Text, Exegesis by : Izaak J. de Hulster
Download or read book Image, Text, Exegesis written by Izaak J. de Hulster and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2015-02-26 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Images from the ancient Near East are an important though generally underutilized source of data for interpreting the Hebrew Bible and the cultural context from which it emerged. The essays in this volume highlight the ways that ancient Near Eastern iconography can inform exegesis. This aim is accomplished through case studies in iconographic exegesis that exhibit sound methodologies for relating images and texts. Since the 1970s, biblical scholars have been turning increasingly to iconography as a source for understanding the religion, history and literature of the ancient Near East. The essays in this volume tackle two thorny issues: 1) how images reflect the cultures that produce them and 2) the nature of the relationship between images and texts, both within discrete cultures and among different cultures. Until now, there have been relatively few methodologically self-conscious treatments of ancient iconography and its relationship to the biblical text. So this volume addresses a clear need for demonstrating transparent and consistent methods for iconographic work among biblical scholars.

Book Synopsis Luna de Vidrio Sobre Imagenes de Arena by : Edel Romay
Download or read book Luna de Vidrio Sobre Imagenes de Arena written by Edel Romay and published by Palibrio. This book was released on 2011-08 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
