Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Writing poetry, to me, is one of the best therapies that I can imagine. It matters not what the subject may be or what the feeling happens to be;p when the lines are written, the heart becomes light and free. The things on this earth are so exciting and wonderful that merely writing about the antics of an insect can be an enthralling learning experience. A purging of the mind, heart and soul is exhilarating; and one can feel cleansed, even if only for a little while. ....to explore....to go on never as before....to wander into infinity....what else is there in store? ....we love, we cry, we sing, we praise, we live, we die....yet. life goes on.

This scintillating love story will pierce the hearts of all generations, and will uplift the hopes and faith of readers. Jim and Bill worked in the barn milking the cows when the urgent report erupted on the radio. Lilia Faith Christian is reported missing while on vacation with her family. Anyone who has knowledge of her whereabouts, please notify the police. The hair stood up on the back of Jim's neck, as he realized his worst fear of all. Jim, the bodyguard boyfriend, threw down his pail, and sprinted out of the barn with Bill on his heels. We have to think like the kidnappers, Jim. Lilia is on crutches and has a full-leg cast. What are the chances of the kidnappers escaping the resort without anyone noticing, especially with her celebrity? Bill asked with focused calculation. Nada, Jim replied with stern determination. She's probably still there somewhere. When they barreled into the resort, Jim's adrenaline propelled him at lightning speed on the upper path towards the underground cave.Bill pumped his arms as he forced his legs to carry him faster on the lower path. Jim reached the stairs as Bill rounded the bend. Jim pounded down the stairs, and the echo thundered off the walls of the cave. I hope we find her in time! Jim wailed with panic.

Nothing scares Katherine more than stopping, but everyone insists she needs to take some time for herself. Head to a wellness retreat, they said. Enjoy some me-time, they said... Except this retreat isn't the pity party she was hoping for. Instead of massages, she has erotic meditation, and instead of spa treatments she has scream therapy. Katherine has never lost control in her life. In fact, she's fairly certain that if she starts screaming she might never stop. But she's about to let go, and everyone had better stand back... Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the story of one man's amazing journey, his destination and the intervention of an almighty God. The tragic event of May 17, 1951 would change the lives of many families forever. Numerous newspaper articles have been written about that night and what took place but this story is different from anything that was ever printed. This is the event as it happened through the eyes of a 16 year old boy watching as his father was gunned down and died in front of him. James Kilpatrick escaped the hand of death as he dodged bullets standing strong and brave to protect his family. The enemy sought to destroy him but God sent angels to camp around him and protect him. That night began a long, hard journey to places unknown and dangers unseen. Come walk with me through these pages as we pull back the curtain and view the life and testimony of James David Kilpatrick. (Some names have been withheld to protect the innocent victims and their families.)
Book Synopsis The Political Ecology of Climate Change Adaptation by : Marcus Taylor
Download or read book The Political Ecology of Climate Change Adaptation written by Marcus Taylor and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-11-17 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides the first systematic critique of the concept of climate change adaptation within the field of international development. Drawing on a reworked political ecology framework, it argues that climate is not something ‘out there’ that we adapt to. Instead, it is part of the social and biophysical forces through which our lived environments are actively yet unevenly produced. From this original foundation, the book challenges us to rethink the concepts of climate change, vulnerability, resilience and adaptive capacity in transformed ways. With case studies drawn from Pakistan, India and Mongolia, it demonstrates concretely how climatic change emerges as a dynamic force in the ongoing transformation of contested rural landscapes. In crafting this synthesis, the book recalibrates the frameworks we use to envisage climatic change in the context of contemporary debates over development, livelihoods and poverty. With its unique theoretical contribution and case study material, this book will appeal to researchers and students in environmental studies, sociology, geography, politics and development studies.

Book Synopsis Recovering Hispanic Religious Thought and Practice of the United States by : Nicolás Kanellos
Download or read book Recovering Hispanic Religious Thought and Practice of the United States written by Nicolás Kanellos and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2009-05-05 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary role played by religion in the development of the Spanish nation in the Iberian Peninsula and its subsequent role in the Spanish conquest and colonization of the Americas has been well studied. Similarly, Hispanics around the world and in the United States have been characterized in scholarship and popular opinion by the dimensions of their predominant Catholic faith. To date, neither their diversity of faith nor their ethnic and racial diversity have been adequately addressed, thus contributing to a widely held perception of a monolithic culture with its own Catholic world view, a world view often categorized as obscurantist, mystical and anachronistic. Most important, the role of religion, in all of its diversity and historical evolution, in building Hispanic culture in the United States has not been adequately studied or understood. Today, because a corpus of Hispanic religious thought from across the ages in the United States has been reconstituted and there are scholars dedicated to understanding this thought and the experience it reveals, publication of this present volume has been made possible. The chapters of Recovering Hispanic Religious Thought and Practice in the United States have resulted from the research underwritten by the eponymous Recovery project and initially presented at Recovery conferences in 2004 and 2005. After scholarly debate and re-working of the research papers, the articles contained in this volume were selected. They represent original work on topics rarely addressed before, in recognition that these articles are laying the groundwork on which an entire sub-discipline of Hispanic history, literature and theology will be constructed. The material addressed is so rich and the themes so numerous and promising that their presentation and elaboration here most certainly will entice scholars from other disciplines to broaden their perspectives on Hispanic life in the United States and perhaps to look to these religious and other alternative sources in conducting their own disciplinary research.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The New Thought movement (also Higher Thought) is a spiritual movement that coalesced in the United States in the early 19th century. New Thought was seen by its adherents as succeeding "ancient thought", accumulated wisdom and philosophy from a variety of origins, such as Ancient Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Chinese, Taoist, Vedic, Hindu, and Buddhist cultures and their related belief systems, primarily regarding the interaction between thought, belief, consciousness in the human mind, and the effects of these within and beyond the human mind. Though no direct line of transmission is traceable, many adherents to New Thought in the 19th and 20th centuries claimed to be direct descendants from those systems. Contents: Napoleon Hill.
