Book Synopsis End Time Daniels by : Daniel Gonzalez
Download or read book End Time Daniels written by Daniel Gonzalez and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2009-02 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book of Daniel reveals a life of encounter based on a love for God that has always been available to the church. In the midst of transition and seeking God, He will meet us and increase His presence and grace in our lives. Daniel is written as an example of how to excel in life, receive eternal benefit from the challenges that come our way, and how to change culture. Now and in the end times, the world and the church face the same issues. The World will not understand what is happening, as the inhabitants are being swept along by the Spirit of the Age. The church will discover God's nature and benefit as He reveals Himself in wisdom, understanding, signs, and wonders. Daniel Gonzalez and his wife Laurie live in Roseville, CA. They have been married for twenty-four years and have four children, Meaghan, Daniel, Abigail, and Joshua. Currently, Meaghan attends IHOPU in Kansas City, MO. Daniel jr.'s interest is music and he is a gifted guitarist. Abigail 7, and Joshua 5 enjoy being kids. Daniel has been a student of the word and prophetic ministry since receiving Christ in 1974. 'Teaching on prophetic ministry for the past decade I felt a Holy Spirit nudge to study the Book of Daniel. This study has turned out to be End Time Daniels. Each of us can hear and obey the Holy Spirit; we never know where that obedience will take us. In this case the Lord continually spoke to me and led me as I studied; encouraging me along the way with insight as I asked Him for understanding. My hope is that those who read this book will find the encouragement to be a Daniel in their generation.'

Book Synopsis Darwin's Harvest by : Timothy J. Motley
Download or read book Darwin's Harvest written by Timothy J. Motley and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 2006-01-04 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Darwin's Harvest addresses concerns that we are losing the diversity of crop plants that provide food for most of the world. With contributions from evolutionary biologists, geneticists, agronomists, molecular biologists, and anthropologists, this collection discusses how economic development, loss of heirloom varieties and wild ancestors, and modern agricultural techniques have endangered the genetic diversity needed to keep agricultural crops vital and capable of adaptation. Drawing on the most up-to-date data, the contributors review the utilization of molecular techniques to understand crop evolution. They explore current research on various crop plants of both temperate and tropical origin, including maize, sunflower, avocado, sugarcane, and wheat. The chapters in Darwin's Harvest also provide solid background for understanding many recent discoveries concerning the origins of crops and the influence of human migration and farming practices on the genetics of our modern foods.

Book Synopsis Taking Stands by : Maureen Gail Reed
Download or read book Taking Stands written by Maureen Gail Reed and published by UBC Press. This book was released on 2003 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Environmental activism in rural places frequently pits residents whose livelihood depends on resource extraction against those who seek to protect natural spaces and species. While many studies have focused on women who seek to protect the natural environment, few have explored the perspectives of women who seek to maintain resource use. This book goes beyond the dichotomies of "pro" and "anti" environmentalism to tell the stories of these women. Maureen Reed uses participatory action research to explain the experiences of women who seek to protect forestry as an industry, a livelihood, a community, and a culture. She links their experiences to policy making by considering the effects of environmental policy changes on the social dynamics of workplaces, households, and communities in forestry towns of British Columbia's temperate rainforest. The result is a critical commentary about the social dimensions of sustainability in rural communities. A powerful and challenging book, Taking Stands provides a crucial understanding of community change in resource-dependent regions, and helps us to better tackle the complexities of gender and activism as they relate to rural sustainability. Social and environmental geographers, feminist scholars, and those engaged in rural studies, environmental sustainability, and community planning will find it invaluable.

Book Synopsis Lords Of The Harvest by : Dan Charles
Download or read book Lords Of The Harvest written by Dan Charles and published by Basic Books. This book was released on 2008-08-04 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Once confined to the research laboratory, the genetic engineering of plants is now a big business that is changing the face of modern agriculture. Giant corporations are creating designer crops with strange powers-from cholesterol-reducing soybeans to plants that act as miniature drug factories, churning out everything from vaccines to insulin. They promise great benefits: better health for consumers, more productive agriculture-even an end to world hunger. But the vision has a dark side, one of profit-driven tampering with life and the possible destruction of entire ecosystems. In Lords of the Harvest, Daniel Charles takes us deep inside research labs, farm sheds, and corporate boardrooms to reveal the hidden story behind this agricultural revolution. He tells how a handful of scientists at Monsanto drove biotechnology from the lab into the field, and how the company's opponents are fighting back with every tool available to them, including the cynical manipulation of public fears. A dramatic account of boundless ambition, political intrigue, and the quest for knowledge, Lords of the Harvest is ultimately a story of idealism and of conflicting dreams about the shape of a better world.
