When Sean Morgan's first love and high school sweetheart is brutally raped and murdered, he returns home from his year long sabbatical to a hostile welcome and the nightmare of living without her. At first unable to cope, he begins a downward spiral that nearly costs him his life, before he recovers to begin an eight year odyssey that takes him from “deranged hippie” to Sheriff of Rock County in the search for her killer. That search will involve three talented, beautiful women who will hold his feet to the fire; the Rock Creek Stalker, a local legend and a threat to all who enter his domain; and a path of betrayal and deceit that can only end on the killer's terms. As Sean Morgan soon learns, it's hard to trust anyone, including those you love, when he or she has her own secrets to hide, and misplaced trust can lead you everywhere you don't want to go, including the jaws of death.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When David Cantley asked me to write about him for the autobiography on which he was working, it took me about three seconds to say, “Yes.” I consider him to be one of the most extraordinary people I have ever met and felt honored to be able to share my thoughts with others. In The History of Lake Worth High School, I wrote this about his two decades as principal, “Without his guidance, the school might very well have been shut down.” I believed that strongly then, and I still believe it as strongly today. In May of 1980, Cantley became Lake Worth High’s fifth principal during the 1979-80 school year. He took charge of a school that had deteriorated tremendously in the quarter-century since my class had graduated. The campus was overcrowded, and plagued with disorder. White students were fleeing, and academics were lagging. The first thing he did was restore discipline. After that, he instituted magnet programs to arrest the white flight. Finally, he spearheaded efforts to get the campus rebuilt and enlarged. By the time he retired in 1999, the school was a model for how things should be done in secondary education. Along the way, he worked to help the less fortunate achieve an education. He had known hard times as a youngster, and he never forgot his roots. He was instrumental in founding the flea market held beneath I-95 that provided scholarships, school supplies and other aid to those in need. The year he retired, he was a key figure in organizing the Lake Worth High School Alumni Foundation and Lake Worth Dollars for Scholars. The latter has distributed over $1 million in scholarships as of 2017. I can’t say anything about David Cantley before his Lake Worth High years, because I didn’t know him then. But this book fills in the gaps and gives me a better feel about how he became the outstanding man he is. William E. “Bill” McGoun, Ph.D.

Enter into the world of Trey and Andrea Edwards as they are faced with CHOICES. To me, a writer's words are his or her voice. There is no greater gift from the Lord than being able to have one's voice heard and received with power and impact on people's lives that can lead to transformation of their mind, body, soul, and ultimately their lives. If anyone listens to my voice and it has the power to impact and the ability to transform, it's not of me it is of the Lord. I will continue to have a voice, and I pray someone will listen. W. Granville Brown graduated from Hamilton University with a degree in Business Administration after serving proudly in the United States Army. For the past twenty plus years, he worked hard to build Fita Insurance Group into a well-respected insurance agency until he sold his business to pursue other endeavors; that allowed him to use his skills and experience in sales and marketing. After many years of writing manuscripts, he overcame his fears and submitted one to an editor who encouraged him to pursue his life-long dream of becoming a writer. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A captivating drama from the frontlines of the race to save birds set against the devastating loss of one third of the avian population. Three years ago, headlines delivered shocking news: nearly three billion birds in North America have vanished over the past fifty years. No species has been spared, from the most delicate jeweled hummingbirds to scrappy black crows, from a rainbow of warblers to common birds such as owls and sparrows. In a desperate race against time, scientists, conservationists, birders, wildlife officers, and philanthropists are scrambling to halt the collapse of species with bold, experimental, and sometimes risky rescue missions. High in the mountains of Hawaii, biologists are about to release clouds of laboratory-bred mosquitos in a last-ditch attempt to save Hawaii’s remaining native forest birds. In Central Florida, researchers have found a way to hatch Florida Grasshopper Sparrows in captivity to rebuild a species down to its last two dozen birds. In the Sierra Nevada Mountains, a team is using artificial intelligence to save the California Spotted Owl. In North Carolina, a scientist is experimenting with genomics borrowed from human medicine to bring the long-extinct Passenger Pigeon back to life. For the past year, veteran journalists Anders and Beverly Gyllenhaal traveled more than 25,000 miles across the Americas, chronicling costly experiments, contentious politics, and new technologies to save our beloved birds from the brink of extinction. Through this compelling drama, A Wing and a Prayer offers hope and an urgent call to action: Birds are dying at an unprecedented pace. But there are encouraging breakthroughs across the hemisphere and still time to change course, if we act quickly.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Yellowstone. Sacagawea. Lewis & Clark. Transcontinental railroad. Indians as college mascots. All are iconic figures, symbols of the West in the Anglo-American imagination. Well-known cultural critic Norman Denzin interrogates each of these icons for their cultural meaning in this finely woven work. Part autoethnography, part historical narrative, part art criticism, part cultural theory, Denzin creates a postmodern bricolage of images, staged dramas, quotations, reminiscences and stories that strike to the essence of the American dream and the shattered dreams of the peoples it subjugated.
