Book Synopsis Children in Painting by : Marie-Christine Autin Graz
Download or read book Children in Painting written by Marie-Christine Autin Graz and published by Skira. This book was released on 2002 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the same way Caravaggio was the inspiration behind "Jewels in Painting," so Fra Angelico is the starting point for "Children in Painting." It was while I was looking at his "Last Judgement" in the convent of San Marco in Florence that two child angels filled me with happiness. They are meeting in Paradise and embrace with tenderness before entering the dance of eternal happiness. They make you believe in true love. Fra Angelico is divine but is a child so? From the day of his birth until the age of ten, one might believe so. This is the reason why no child over ten features in this book. Having a child is a universal desire. A child is life, a child is love. Having to choose amongst an infinite number of pictures, I have attempted to select the most representative ones in Italian, German, Dutch, Flemish, Spanish, English, American, Swiss and French painting, in which children play, laugh, kiss, cry, eat or sleep. Each of them reveals a masterpiece, in which the artist has exchanged his knowledge for a marvellous innocence. the ordinary becomes extraordinary, truth reveals beauty and beauty reveals truth. This book is as much for adults as it is for children, who will hopefully be encouraged to delve further into the world of art. To understand it is to start loving it: admire it and let yourself be carried away from everyday's routine.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Describes new state-of-the-science tools and their contribution to industrial R&D With contributions from leading international experts in the field, this book explains how scanning probe microscopy is used in industry, resulting in improved product formulation, enhanced processes, better quality control and assurance, and new business opportunities. Readers will learn about the use of scanning probe microscopy to support R&D efforts in the semiconductor, chemical, personal care product, biomaterial, pharmaceutical, and food science industries, among others. Scanning Probe Microscopy in Industrial Applications emphasizes nanomechanical characterization using scanning probe microscopy. The first half of the book is dedicated to a general overview of nanomechanical characterization methods, offering a complete practical tutorial for readers who are new to the topic. Several chapters include worked examples of useful calculations such as using Hertz mechanics with and without adhesion to model a contact, step-by-step instructions for simulations to guide cantilever selection for an experiment, and data analysis procedures for dynamic contact experiments. The second half of the book describes applications of nanomechanical characterization in industry, including: New formulation development for pharmaceuticals Measurement of critical dimensions and thin dielectric films in the semiconductor industry Effect of humidity and temperature on biomaterials Characterization of polymer blends to guide product formulation in the chemicals sector Unraveling links between food structure and function in the food industry Contributions are based on the authors' thorough review of the current literature as well as their own firsthand experience applying scanning probe microscopy to solve industrial R&D problems. By explaining the fundamentals before advancing to applications, Scanning Probe Microscopy in Industrial Applications offers a complete treatise that is accessible to both novices and professionals. Download or read book Joachim Wtewael written by Anne W. Lowenthal and published by Getty Publications. This book was released on 1995 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Dutch history painter Joachim Wtewael is widely admired for his astonishing small paintings on copper. The Getty Museum's Mars and Venus Surprised by Vulcan is one of his finest works in this unusually demanding medium. Though only eight inches high, this Mannerist painting contains eleven figures in three different spaces, captured in a dramatically charged moment from the famous story told by Ovid in his Metamorphoses. The author's detailed analysis of Wtewael's painting also serves as a fine introduction to Dutch art of the Golden Age. Illustrated with seventy reproductions of paintings, drawings, etchings, and decorative objects, Anne W. Lowenthal's study ranges over the broad historical and cultural context in which Mars and Venus was created.

Book Synopsis Corpus Rubenianum Ludwig Burchard by : Svetlana Alpers
Download or read book Corpus Rubenianum Ludwig Burchard written by Svetlana Alpers and published by Harvey Miller. This book was released on 1978 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shortly before November 1636, Rubens received the commission from Philip IV of Spain to supply more than sixty paintings with mythological subjects for his new hunting lodge, the Torre de la Parada. In about one and a half years, the enormous task was completed. The pictures had been painted partly by Rubens himself, partly from his designs by a number of collaborators, among them Cornelis de Vos, Jacob Jordaens, Theodoor van Thulden and Erasmus Quellinus. Today, forty of these paintings, more than fifty of Rubens's brilliant sketches and a few preparatory drawings survive. Together with three never previously published eighteenth-century inventories of the Torre de La Parada, they have provided the material for the new analysis of the series.
