Book Synopsis Handbook of Elliptic Integrals for Engineers and Physicists by : Paul F. Byrd
Download or read book Handbook of Elliptic Integrals for Engineers and Physicists written by Paul F. Byrd and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Engineers and physicists are more and more encountering integrations involving nonelementary integrals and higher transeendental functions. Such integrations frequently involve (not always in immediately re cognizable form) elliptic functions and elliptic integrals. The numerous books written on elliptic integrals, while of great value to the student or mathematician, are not especially suitable for the scientist whose primary objective is the ready evaluation of the integrals that occur in his practical problems. As a result, he may entirely avoid problems which lead to elliptic integrals, or is likely to resort to graphical methods or other means of approximation in dealing with all but the siruplest of these integrals. It became apparent in the course of my work in theoretical aero dynamics that there was a need for a handbook embodying in convenient form a comprehensive table of elliptic integrals together with auxiliary formulas and numerical tables of values. Feeling that such a book would save the engineer and physicist much valuable time, I prepared the present volume.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Upon publication, the first edition of the CRC Concise Encyclopedia of Mathematics received overwhelming accolades for its unparalleled scope, readability, and utility. It soon took its place among the top selling books in the history of Chapman & Hall/CRC, and its popularity continues unabated. Yet also unabated has been the d
Download or read book Number Theory written by W.A. Coppel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-02-02 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This two-volume book is a modern introduction to the theory of numbers, emphasizing its connections with other branches of mathematics. Part A is accessible to first-year undergraduates and deals with elementary number theory. Part B is more advanced and gives the reader an idea of the scope of mathematics today. The connecting theme is the theory of numbers. By exploring its many connections with other branches a broad picture is obtained. The book contains a treasury of proofs, several of which are gems seldom seen in number theory books.

Book Synopsis The SIAM 100-digit Challenge by : Folkmar Bornemann
Download or read book The SIAM 100-digit Challenge written by Folkmar Bornemann and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2004-01-01 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book takes readers on a thrilling tour of some of the most important and powerful areas of contemporary numerical mathematics. The tour is organized along the 10 problems of the SIAM 100-Digit Challenge, a contest posed by Nick Trefethen of Oxford University in the January/February 2002 issue of SIAM News. The complete story of the contest as well as a lively interview with Nick Trefethen are also included. The authors, members of teams that solved all 10 problems, show in detail multiple approaches for solving each problem, ranging from elementary to sophisticated, from brute-force to schemes that can be scaled to provide thousands of digits of accuracy and that can solve even larger related problems. The authors touch on virtually every major technique of modern numerical analysis: matrix computation, iterative linear methods, limit extrapolation and convergence acceleration, numerical quadrature, contour integration, discretization of PDEs, global optimization, Monte Carlo and evolutionary algorithms, error control, interval and high-precision arithmetic, and many more.
Download or read book Chemical Physics written by A. N. Linke and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2006 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemical physics and physical chemistry are closely related fields of study. Together they are distinguished from other disciplines by the incredible range of problems addressed by their practitioners. An effective physical chemist or chemical physicist is a "jack-of-all-trades", able to apply the principles and techniques of the field to everything from high-tech materials to biology. Just as the fields of chemistry and physics have expanded, so have chemical physics subject areas, which include polymers, materials, surfaces/interfaces, and biological macromolecules, along with the traditional small molecule and condensed phase systems. This book gathers research from around the world presenting important new developments.
