Book Synopsis רבדההוהי רבד HaDavar (The Word of הוהי) by : Daniel Perek
Download or read book רבדההוהי רבד HaDavar (The Word of הוהי) written by Daniel Perek and published by Strategic Book Publishing & Rights Agency. This book was released on 2022-03-02 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a temporary Volume IV in a four-volume set on Messianic Judaism by scholar Daniel Perek. It is an English translation of the Aramaic Peshitta New Testament, and will soon be accompanied by a Hebrew translation of the same. The goal of this New Testament is to put the Aramaic Peshitta text back into its cultural context as much as possible linguistically, by transliterating Hebrew names and other words, and looking more closely at the translation of certain words and concepts. It is the author’s contention that the Aramaic texts preceded the Greek NT texts, and that this version will help readers see some of the reasons why. Namely, the use of the Name, ???? , or ???? in the Aramaic, would not be so strategically used in an Aramaic translation from the Greek as it is in the Aramaic Peshitta texts, so one can easily see the Name as it was used by Yeshua and His Talmidim (Disciples). Further, the Name “Yeshua,” ????, the given, human name of the Messiah, is affirmed as Yeshua in the Aramaic Peshitta texts, and is seen readily within this volume. The Hebrew translation will be completed shortly, offering the same and more to the Hebrew reader.

Book Synopsis Defiant Prophets by : Hillel I. Millgram
Download or read book Defiant Prophets written by Hillel I. Millgram and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2022-04-22 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the tales of three remarkable figures of the biblical world: the tragic prophet Jeremiah, and the two atypical prophets Jonah and Balaam. Jeremiah was cursed from birth and condemned to a lifelong losing battle against national disaster. Jonah was notorious for his connection with a whale, whereas Balaam was best known as the owner of a talking donkey. Yet these prophets (servants of their deity) are portrayed as rebels against their god. This book contends that these tales, beyond their intrinsic appeal as stories, were written to serve as metaphors. Although set in ancient times and in the exotic Near East, the issues that underlie these gripping tales are not unfamiliar to modern times and Western lives. These prophets represent "everyman" and these unusual dramas explore the phenomenon of revolt against restrictive conditions and against authority.
Download or read book Go to Nineveh written by Steven Bob and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2013-07-09 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book of Jonah remains an engaging part of the religious lives of Jews and Christians. On the human level, the dramatic story speaks to us of the possibility of second chances in our lives. On the spiritual level, it describes the paths an individual and a people can take leading them back to God.Medieval Jewish commentaries unfold new perspectives of meaning beyond the surface of the biblical text. In explaining the verses of the book of Jonah, the commentators explore many core topics, including human nature, our relationship with God, the interaction of Jews and gentiles, and the meaning of our lives. This book offers the first full English translation of the commentaries of Rashi, Ibn Ezra, Kimchi, Abarbanel, and Malbim. It also provides an explanation of their comments, making them accessible to contemporary Western readers. Until now one needed a high level of Hebrew to explore these works. Go to Nineveh opens this world to the modern English reader. The book also includes the author's own modern commentary, considering questions not raised by earlier commentators.

Book Synopsis The Babylon Code by : Richard N. Rhoades
Download or read book The Babylon Code written by Richard N. Rhoades and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2014-10-29 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At a reception in the Kremlin on November 17, 1956, Nikita Khrushchev made a startling comment aimed at America: “Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!” The break-up of the USSR in 1991 was hailed by the West—especially America—as a victory over communism and its global threat of tyranny. Throughout the world the cry was heard: “Communist rule is over! The evil empire is gone!” But was it? In The Babylon Code: Is AMERICA in Prophecy? author Richard N. Rhoades examines the writings of Russian dissidents and high-ranking communist military leaders to explain the real reason behind Khrushchev’s angry outburst and to illustrate why Russia is more dangerous today than ever before. His research reveals a long-range KGB strategic plan for global domination, known among some of the highest ranking Communist military defectors to the West. Rhoades also explores the real reason Russia is now flexing its muscles to the United States and the world, and what the ancient Hebrew prophets said about a great latter nation in the Bible code-named “Babylon,” whose real identity is mentioned in the Hebrew Scriptures not once but twice as “AMERIKA” (AMERICA). The Babylon Code offers a well-researched, in-depth look at the causes of these threats and actions, viewing Russia, America and its Jewish inhabitants with a new perspective.
Download or read book Mastering Self written by Donald G. Hanna and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2019-12-05 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mastering self is commitment to a cause with conviction of conscience that transcends self. Mortal self is created by the person—distinct from immortal soul created by God. Self is courted by culture and politics with a propensity to ignore the lessons of history and practical philosophy by replacing timeless virtues with personal values. Consequently, mastering self has cultural, political, historical, philosophical, and theological implications. Our culture is consumed by idols, materialism, technology gadgets, and entertainment whereby the mindset of most persons is entitlement to benefits provided by government or employer. Most of us live like kings with income and wealth compared to the rest of the world. Check globalrichlist.com to remove any doubt. But what about the immortal soul? Most in our culture ignore this question. Mastering self doesn’t ignore it. Mastering self involves an understanding that doesn’t exist naturally in the human condition. It is cultivated by lifelong learning. This book is for serious thinkers who want to clarify their worldview and become what they should be. It consists of timeless truths and virtues for reference or contemplative study. Understanding them strengthens personal relations. Embracing them increases personal influence. Practicing them benefits anyone responsible for other people. Believing them promotes interpersonal skills. Living them cultivates character. This book consists of 177 one-page essays—white papers that provide insight regarding basic issues in life: written for concise, clear construct and context and organized for coherence and continuity. These papers result from a deep conviction that God counsels and confides in those who fear Him (Ps. 25:14). They are the product of my reading, teaching, writing, and pondering to keep my heart with all diligence regarding issues in life (Prov. 4:23): contemplation of soul in solitude. Some are politically incorrect, viz., those regarding the culture and the federal government with its debt: written by an old curmudgeon, gadfly, and stager with old-school insight and stubborn ideas about stubborn facts about stubborn problems. Stager is an appropriate appellation—experienced through many battles, some literal, during 32 years of law enforcement: 24 as police chief managing police affairs in an urban area with a large university.

Book Synopsis Beware of This False Doctrine by : NngmingBongle Bapuohyele
Download or read book Beware of This False Doctrine written by NngmingBongle Bapuohyele and published by Strategic Book Publishing & Rights Agency. This book was released on 2015-04-21 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Beware of This False Doctrine, a vivid teaching of the born again experience, is presented with a touch of suspense. It is a thrilling and very insightful exposition on Elohiym’s salvation and is based on a conversation Yahushua had with Nakdimon, discernment between forgiveness and remission of sin, the significance of baptism, and the Great Commission of Yahushua to His talmidim. This book brings to the fore the issues of altar calls, Sinners’ Prayer recitals, and the practice of inviting “Jesus Christ” into hearts. It teaches that these rituals, commonly pursued by many as the means of seeking entrance to the Kingdom of Elohiym, are incapable of bringing mankind to the realities of being born again. Beware of This False Doctrine! A multitude of revelations on the mystery of baptism, all laid bare in this teaching, will provoke Bible students to learn even more. This book is a must read.

Book Synopsis Movies and Midrash by : Wendy I. Zierler
Download or read book Movies and Midrash written by Wendy I. Zierler and published by SUNY Press. This book was released on 2017-08-16 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Brings popular cinema and Jewish religious texts into a meaningful dialogue. Movies and Midrash uses cinema as a springboard to discuss central Jewish texts and matters of belief. A number of books have drawn on films to explicate Christian theology and belief, but Wendy I. Zierler is the first to do so from a Jewish perspective, exploring what Jewish tradition, text, and theology have to say about the lessons and themes arising from influential and compelling films. The book uses the method of inverted midrash: while classical rabbinical midrash begins with exegesis of a verse and then introduces a mashal (parable) as a means of further explication, Zierler turns that process around, beginning with the culturally familiar cinematic parable and then analyzing related Jewish texts. Each chapter connects a secular film to a different central theme in classical Jewish sources or modern Jewish thought. Films covered include The Truman Show (truth), Memento (memory), Crimes and Misdemeanors (sin), Magnolia (confession and redemption), The Descendants (birthright), Forrest Gump (cleverness and simplicity), and The Hunger Games (creation of humanity in Gods image), among others. This is a groundbreaking work of originality, insight, and high quality. It will be of great importance not only for Jewish readers but also for non-Jewish readers who long for a non-Christian perspective on popular film. I loved this book! Eric Michael Mazur, editor, Encyclopedia of Religion and Film
