Interview for IAS or an MNC, meeting with the parents of your prospective bride, addressing a public rally, or delivering a speech in an international conference...if you have a confident and pleasing personality, you will surely make your mark! This book seeks to motivate young men and women, particularly students, to make conscious and continuous effort to build character and develop personality. With deep insight, the author has provided valuable guidelines and practical tips on matters of special interest to students. Further, he has given them the benefit of experience, his own as well as those of eminent persons. Considering the significant role of teachers and parents and their responsibility in molding young minds, the book intends to serve the purpose of building firm foundation for a better personality. Some Glimpses: * Manners make the a man. We should be uniformly courteous to all...humility marks an educated man. *It is more fitting for a man to laugh over life, than lament over it. *The art of writing letters is worth culivating, for one`s own sake, and for the sake of others. *Start building a library, of your own (if you do not already have one)...learn by heart significant speeches or passages...be a student all through your life. *`I have developed a such a detached attitude to food where taste is concerned that life is so much easier, and the hazard of becoming a victim to contaminated food are almost nil.` #v&spublishers

NOTE: See also Shine In Your Life''s Journey, the Parent-Teacher-Mentor edition that contains the exact content of this student guide plus helpful suggestions for teaching these lessons to children. Shine In Your Life's Journey is a simply formatted, straightforward guide/workbook to help students learn the important values and behaviors that build and sustain a strong character. Containing concise, thought-provoking, and enjoyable lessons, this easy-to-use guide encourages its student users to discover their own innate strengths as well as improve areas of lesser strengths that will help them achieve their hopes, dreams, and goals in their lives. The lessons are divided into three sections: Being an Honorable Person, Self-Discovery, and Self-Empowerment, and are a result of the curriculum the author has developed for the children he teaches and mentors at Jasper Mountain Center in Jasper, Oregon, an internationally renowned residential facility that addresses the significant needs of children and their families who have suffered the trauma of abuse. Author Greg Ahlijian has been a volunteer at the Jasper Mountain facility since 2008, teaching and mentoring children from ages 8-14 about character development, nature, and poetry. Inspired by the children, he has written two books that contain life lessons: The Large Rock and the Little Yew teaches the virtues of courage, perseverance, self-respect, and hope; and An Elephant Would Be Wonderful, a book about self-discovery. He says, "To be able to provide a smile on a child's face, a bit of joy or inspiration, is what my book projects are all about!"

This book was released on 2013-11-13 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physical inactivity is a key determinant of health across the lifespan. A lack of activity increases the risk of heart disease, colon and breast cancer, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, osteoporosis, anxiety and depression and others diseases. Emerging literature has suggested that in terms of mortality, the global population health burden of physical inactivity approaches that of cigarette smoking. The prevalence and substantial disease risk associated with physical inactivity has been described as a pandemic. The prevalence, health impact, and evidence of changeability all have resulted in calls for action to increase physical activity across the lifespan. In response to the need to find ways to make physical activity a health priority for youth, the Institute of Medicine's Committee on Physical Activity and Physical Education in the School Environment was formed. Its purpose was to review the current status of physical activity and physical education in the school environment, including before, during, and after school, and examine the influences of physical activity and physical education on the short and long term physical, cognitive and brain, and psychosocial health and development of children and adolescents. Educating the Student Body makes recommendations about approaches for strengthening and improving programs and policies for physical activity and physical education in the school environment. This report lays out a set of guiding principles to guide its work on these tasks. These included: recognizing the benefits of instilling life-long physical activity habits in children; the value of using systems thinking in improving physical activity and physical education in the school environment; the recognition of current disparities in opportunities and the need to achieve equity in physical activity and physical education; the importance of considering all types of school environments; the need to take into consideration the diversity of students as recommendations are developed. This report will be of interest to local and national policymakers, school officials, teachers, and the education community, researchers, professional organizations, and parents interested in physical activity, physical education, and health for school-aged children and adolescents.

The book is excellent for any classroom, including those addressing special education, differentiated instruction, and interactive learning, or where there’s active engagement and attention to varied perceptual preferences and learning differences. A classroom that optimizes student achievement through collaborative relationship building is given a good deal of attention with activities focusing on mindfulness and determination through persistence. The book’s premise is the classroom, for optimum learning, needs to be a place of comfort. Modeling/living the six international traits of a person of good character (caring, fair, responsible, trustworthy, respectful and good citizenship) is vital, especially in the educational setting. Practical strategies for character building and conversing with others are provided. Living by two ideas: No put downs, only lift ups for oneself and others, and realizing “being enough,” is exactly what you are.
