Book excerpt: The Writer of this book was driven by a passion to tell this story in the hope that this book will alert and prepare people to watch out for the unfamiliar personalities and circumstances. It is written in plain simple English that everyone and anyone can appreciate. Knowing that awareness is empowering! When you know better, you do better. The Consequences of Not Knowing This is a story of a young girl who was unprepared for the unfamiliar people and the unfamiliar circumstances she would face. She was bought up in a home with Christian morals, where they only knew love and trust in its purest form. Her upbringing is based on a True Story. Some NZ Maori families come from the other side of ‘Once were Warriors’ Her parents brought her up to be kind, loving and caring to all people but never taught her the boundaries of knowing when to say ‘NO’. Maria is a victim of a sociopath or psychopath. She never knew such people existed. She was unprepared. Maria’s parents are also faced with circumstances that are unfamiliar to them. They do not know what to do about these circumstances they are faced with either. They seek help from a society that has people in places that one would think, would know best, and seek to do the best, but they only know a text book result and will stick to the ‘red tape’ rather than common sense. They soon find out that sociopaths are the norm in society. They find a ‘Justice System,’ where an outcome is better than the truth. The whole family is put into unfamiliar ground. The abuse of one person turns this family’s life upside down. This book has all the elements of all human emotions. This young girl experiences a life of tender love and care, and unfamiliar ground with a psychopath. She becomes a victim to his physical abuse and rape. She is unprepared for all that Mr Ian Clarke throws at her. He strips her of her own self worth. Her spirit is taken from her. Killed off by all the abuse she suffered. Book excerpt: "America already has a tomb for the unknown soldier," Lawyer Blake Nepper told reporters. "Can we not have one obituary for the unknown fetus?" Ward Brown's daughter, Mindy, is newly pregnant. It's Thanksgiving of Mindy's senior year of high school. She has already been granted a college academic scholarship. She is no longer involved with her baby's father. Ward Brown fears the dastardly inevitable; he needs a miracle, will try anything to stop his daughter from aborting her baby. With help of a shrewd insurance CEO and his troubled lawyer, Ward Brown takes out a controversial life insurance policy on his unborn grandchild. As his daughter Mindy Brown endures her senior year, delaying an inevitable abortion, the world awaits a civil trial which could topple Roe v. Wade. "A Grisham-like thriller, Grandpa's Hook engages legalized abortion much like Uncle Tom's Cabin engaged, and helped end, legalized slavery." -Jedd Hafer. Scott Degelman came to know Jesus in 1998 at 29 years old. He then transferred his lifelong passion for writing into serving God through the arts. A published poet, speaker, novelist and songwriter, Scott is Director at a Colorado Boys' Home where he has counseled for eight years. He is married with four children the last five years. He will attend a final year of Bible College after he stops having kids. Scott has recently initiated a pro-life ministry entitled Save One Soul, its purpose to unify all pro-life sites, and to propagate art for the pro-life cause. Scott came to know that, born in 1969, he would have been aborted had abortion been legal at that time. His subsequent passion for seeing abortion once again outlawed, and his obedience to God, created this novel. Scott and his family reside in the beautiful mountain town of Woodland Park, Colorado.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Last Giddy-Up is a tale of a young farm girl spirited away by a professional rodeo cowboy. Never being far from home and not realizing what her life was to be, she entered into the relationship with dreams of excitement and travel, only to be awakened to the knowledge she had married a bitter and sadistic man. The author weaves the reader through her childhood, experiencing an out-of-body episode when deathly ill, to twenty years of a turbulent life always hoping to redeem her cowboy. After awaking to the click of an empty cylinder on her husband's revolver, she finally comes to the conclusion she just couldn't make the marriage work. With the help of family, she escapes the physical and mental abuse, the danger and frustrations, to find her soulmate. Hiding at her sister's home and once again threatened, she manages to make it to divorce court. After her new marriage, the extended family comes into the picture, adding more love and support to her battered soul. With that redemption, she was able to obtain the dream she had always wished for. She had hung her head for twenty years, fearing to look anyone in the eyes. Charles would place his fingers gently under her chin, raising her face to his, saying, "Look up and see the light. You are as good as anybody in this world and better than most. I want to see you smile again." The story then takes you to the next phase, a time of joy and wonderful family relations, with gentle lovemaking and desires met far above expectations. As Charles's retirement came near, he had been experiencing a decline in health. A move to Florida and then back north to be closer to family after his first stroke. Salem, Missouri, became our home. Having become an LPN, I worked at the local hospital in a Birthing Center, and juggled my hours to accommodate the care of six registered quarter horses, five dogs, and six cats. I needed to be able to supervise Charles's medication. Coming home one morning, I saw him lying on the ground with his hands stretched out, near a farm gate. When I called out to him, he didn't respond. My heart was in my throat. I thought I had lost him. When I dived out of my vehicle and ran to his side, he looked up and laughed. "What is the matter with you? You look excited." I was furious. That was the only time in nearly thirty-one years that I was truly angry at him. Upon his final stroke and after being flown to Missouri Baptist Neurological Center in St. Louis, there were several red-tailed hawk sightings with spiritual purpose. Through those difficult hours, his children and myself stayed at his bedside. According to Charles's wishes, Chuck and I took his ashes to west Texas for distribution. As we threw his ashes to the wind, they seemed to glisten in the late afternoon sunlight as they were carried upward and out across the desert floor. A golden eagle flew under them seemingly to assist in the flight. We chugged down our cognac to toast a great man, a true gentleman.
